In Fukuoka, we ended our night of drinking with ramen. Once again, we were recommended a delicious ramen spot by the staff at a bar in Nakasu, and we headed to Karashimen Tsurushoten in Nakasu. Upon entering the restaurant, we were seated at the counter. I ordered the level 3 spicy ramen. When I asked the staff, they said level 3 is normally spicy, and level 5 is even spicier. The soup was spicy with garlic and green onions, and it was really tasty. In Fukuoka, where tonkotsu ramen is popular, this spicy ramen was a nice change. Especially after drinking, I personally think this is better as a way to end the night than tonkotsu ramen. Right as the ramen was served, a group at a nearby table seemed quite drunk, and they ended up knocking over bowls and cups, causing a commotion. I forgot to take a picture of the ramen amidst the chaos, but it was really delicious. I'm already thinking of having spicy ramen again as the perfect way to end a night out in Nakasu next time (laughs).

The other day, the bartender at my favorite bar in Nakasu recommended Tsuru Shouten for spicy noodles, so I decided to give it a try. I had noticed that a massage parlor I used to visit often had been turned into a restaurant, so I was curious to see how it had changed. The restaurant is located behind the Nakasu Police Box, with a sign that makes it easy to find. When I entered, it had just opened, so I had the place to myself. I ordered a beer and some appetizers before trying the spicy noodles. The soft and tender simmered cartilage was a must-order for me, and it did not disappoint. The gyoza that followed was crispy and delicious, although the filling was a bit sparse. The spicy stir-fried Japanese beef offal was juicy and flavorful, perfect with a bowl of rice. Finally, I ordered the spicy noodles at 5 times the spiciness level. The broth was delicious, and I chose egg noodles which were cooked perfectly. Overall, the meal was satisfying, and I was impressed by the fact that the restaurant stays open until 6 am. It seems to be popular among locals, and I can see why. If you're a fan of spicy noodles, I highly recommend giving this place a try. Next time, I want to try the pig's feet that caught my eye.
