The sushi was fresh and delicious! The mentaiko dashimaki, butter-fried squid and mushrooms were also delicious. The mango sour was tasty and satisfying! It was nice to meet the manager and I look forward to coming back to Isshin again! The food was even better than I imagined and I was so happy! I finally got to visit Isshin as I had been wanting to, and I feel so lucky!

The menu was unique and fun. I was surprised by the price of the highball. The location in Hommachi seemed quiet at night, but the inside of the restaurant was warm and inviting. The staff who took our orders were cute. It was a good value for the money, so I would like to go back again. The sushi pieces were also large.

I visited a sushi izakaya near Hommachi Station in Osaka during my trip. They had a wide variety of seafood dishes. Since I was planning to visit multiple places, I only had appetizers, but the rolled omelette had a gentle and delicious taste. It seemed like many people were stopping by after work, but there was also a counter where you could visit alone.

I visited "Sushi Izakaya Isshin Honmachi" in the Funabashi Center Building in Honmachi for the first time. I had been there for lunch a few times, but this time they were closed during the day so I went in the early evening. When I entered, there was no one inside, so I was seated at a table. I started with a draft beer and some tsukudani. The sashimi was good and the tsukudani had a nice flavor. The sushi was also good, with items like squid, flounder, medium fatty tuna, and grilled skin. The rice was not too vinegary and a bit sweet. Overall, the food was good. They are not serving lunch now, but it's a good place for a quick drink and meal, although it might be a bit pricey!

After asking if it's okay to have coffee after the meal, it was brought to me. The lunch menu is extensive and I had a hard time deciding. In the end, I ordered the safe option of fried chicken set meal. After ordering, I was told that the Karaage set meal has more food, but the fried chicken was large with three pieces, which was enough for me. It was juicy and exactly the type of fried chicken I like. It's nice to be able to relax and drink coffee after the meal.

For my business trip in Osaka, I decided to have dinner at a sushi izakaya called "Isshin" located in the Senba Center Building No. 10 in Honmachi. I started with a lemon sour cocktail. The eel sushi stick was quite filling and paired well with drinks. I also had a highball, which was only 140 yen here, making it easy to drink. The dried squid tempura is a classic drinking snack in Osaka, especially delicious with a bit of mayonnaise. The spicy cod roe rolled omelette was also very satisfying and had a great flavor. I ended the meal with about five rounds of highball refills.

During the day and night, this restaurant is always bustling and has become my favorite. It's cheap and delicious, there's no greater joy. The only downside is that it's a smoking-permitted establishment. On this day, I found myself fighting against secondhand smoke. A group at a nearby table had been loud and smoky since 5 pm, with no sign of leaving even after over 2 hours. We endured the wait until our reservation time at 7 pm. It was a rare gathering of 4 former colleagues from my previous job. There was a former boss, former subordinates, and a former beautiful office lady. I'm grateful that we could all come together like this. Cheers to being alive and well. Let's not die before I do, okay? The conversation never seemed to end, so I decided to call it a night at the right moment. This is where the organizer's skills come into play. For dinner, we had: - Assorted sashimi platter x2 - ¥1,380 each - Wagyu beef tataki - ¥1,280 - Fatty mackerel salt-grilled - ¥680 - Local chicken salt-grilled - ¥680 - Grilled stingray fin - ¥380 - Rolled omelette - ¥580 - Smoked sausage - ¥480 - Eel sushi roll - ¥980 - Cucumber roll - ¥310 - Tuna roll - ¥510 - Fermented soybean roll - ¥360 Noteworthy was the deliciousness of the fatty mackerel salt-grilled. I wish I had ordered one for each person. The eel sushi roll had a rich umami flavor and the three types of light and crispy rolls were perfect for the end. I drank nothing but a ¥270 black label and a ¥140 highball. The incredible cost performance is to be expected. The smoking group next to us had disappeared without us noticing. Now, each of us is walking our own path in life. When will we meet again? Let's head to the second place for drinks. Thank you for the meal.

In a positive light, the restaurant is lively and bustling during weekday lunch hours, with less than half the usual customers due to the pandemic. The music playing is of the rock band genre, which is quite unique for this area but I personally like it. The lunch menu is reasonably priced and even comes with coffee. I had the seafood bowl, which was decent for the price, although the rice was a bit disappointing. The miso soup was okay for a set meal but lacked depth of flavor compared to what you would expect from a sushi restaurant. It was a letdown to see that the dishes were served in plastic containers. The sight of staff shoes piled up at the entrance was off-putting. The service staff was polite and attentive, but the kitchen staff inside weren't wearing masks. Despite my nitpicks, I will probably visit again due to the affordable prices.

The fatty mackerel I had for lunch was so delicious that I came back for dinner. This time, I met up with a senior colleague from my early career days for a drink. It was a celebration of two old men still alive and kicking. I learned during lunch that the prices here are unbeatable - Black Label for $2.70, Highball for $1.40. You won't find a place with such prices even at standing bars. That's why, even after 7 PM, the place was almost full. However, with the current situation, there was enough space between tables. Let's be grateful for being alive, my senior colleague. Let's drink and eat. First, a toast with Black Label - Cheers! We ordered some classic izakaya dishes and one special item. Here's a quick rundown of the nutritional highlights of the day: - Octopus balls for $5.80 - Edamame for $3.30 - Grilled chicken tataki with ponzu sauce for $6.80 - Rolled omelette for $5.30 - Grilled fatty mackerel with salt for $6.80 - Eel sushi sticks for $9.80 The sushi here truly lives up to its name. The grilled chicken tataki was also exceptionally delicious. However, the stars of the night were the fatty mackerel and eel. I recommended the fatty mackerel to my colleague, and it did not disappoint. The eel sushi sticks were divine. The tender eel with crispy skin and rich flavor was a delight. I wished I had some rice to go with it. So, we ordered the sushi sticks. They were so good. The size was just right, but we could have used one more for each of us. The eel was outstanding. The sauce was thicker and more flavorful than the usual eel sauce, which paired perfectly with our tipsy state. Ah, so delicious. The $1.40 highball with a choice of Dewar's, Black Nikka, or Kakubin was a great deal. On the other hand, the non-alcoholic beer for $3.80 was an interesting price point. On a scorching hot day, I decided to have lunch at a restaurant without having to leave the subway station, and I ended up at this place, the Senba Center Building 10. It had been a while since I last visited, and I wondered if there were any new places to try. Turns out there was! This place is a sushi izakaya with a wide range of lunch menu options, from a ¥580 fried chicken set to a ¥980 seafood bowl, among 10 other choices. Apart from fish dishes, they also offer options like grilled meat and mixed fry. I ordered my favorite, the "Toro Saba set" for ¥780, which also came with a complimentary drink. I sat at a slightly uncomfortable counter seat in the corner and waited a few minutes. The half-sized Toro Saba was just the right size, hot and crispy with a perfect char. The side dishes included a bite-sized cold tofu, a salad, and a clam miso soup. The service was quite generous. The Toro Saba tasted as delicious as it looked. The portion of rice was also generous, and they even offer a free "extra large" service for those who need more. The complimentary after-meal drink service was a nice touch. I chose an iced coffee, which was served in a plastic tumbler resembling a rocks glass. I've decided to visit this place regularly. It's a great restaurant. When I glanced at the evening menu, I noticed they offered "Highball for ¥140, Black Label for ¥270." It seems their service is great both during the day and at night. I'll definitely be coming back. Located directly connected to Honmachi Station on the Osaka Metro, on the 2nd basement floor of the 10th building of "Funebashi Center Building". Opened in 2019 at the site of "Yamano-ya Honmachi Honten", this sushi izakaya used to have lots of posters and signs outside, but now it looks much cleaner after the change. The exterior and interior remain largely the same as before, operating as a transfer business. The spacious interior has a typical izakaya atmosphere, with table seats and a counter. The lunch menu includes various set meals such as sushi, fried chicken, grilled fish, and beef harami all priced under 1,000 yen. The recommended "Isshin's Nigiri Set of Ten" comes with ten pieces of nigiri sushi and red miso soup. The sushi pieces are relatively large and the taste is decent. It seems relatively quiet, so it might be a good recommendation for lunch seekers.

I had the "Isshin's 10-piece nigiri (with red miso soup + drink after the meal)" set. This place opened on December 20th last year, so everything feels new and clean. The food arrived about 10 minutes after ordering. The sushi pieces were thick and had a nice volume to them, which got me really excited. The egg was flat and not watery, with a fluffy and sweet taste. The freshness of the sea bream was noticeable, with a pleasant and bouncy texture. The standout was the red miso soup with clams, which had a perfect balance of flavors and was piping hot! The staff was friendly, and I even got a coffee after the meal. At 980 yen, the cost performance was great. Highly recommended!

A new renovated restaurant appeared in Building 10 of the Funabashi Center Building. I visited one of the shops with my colleagues. I noticed this place on the board menu while riding my bicycle to Kyutarocho, and I bookmarked it. Later, I saw it on MyRebi. Truly, the master of Honmachi. I couldn't miss the grilled salted mackerel on the board menu. As a mackerel lover, I had to try it. I ordered it with a little extra rice. One of my colleagues from a mid-sized company ordered the tender beef harami set with a large portion. The other colleague ordered a 10-piece sushi set from Isshin. The beef harami arrived first. The rice portion was large, but I was worried if the side dishes and balance would be enough. So, I asked if I could have more rice. I got confirmation from the kitchen that it was okay to have more rice. Next came the sushi. My colleague said it was enough, but if you're confident in eating it, maybe the rice could be a little smaller? He was disappointed that the eel in the photo had been replaced with clam. The grilled salted mackerel arrived last. It came with clams and mitsuba in a red miso soup for flavoring. It was delicious, but adding a bit more dashi might bring out more richness. I enjoyed the grilled mackerel with grated daikon and a lightly flavored soy sauce that came with it. The freshly cooked rice was Nara's Hinohikari rice. It was a bit sticky, maybe due to the water or not being new rice. If this can be improved, it would make the lunch even more fantastic.

At the Shipyard Center Building No. 10, there is a new sushi izakaya called "Isshin." Can you believe it? Highballs are only 88 yen here, and that's the regular price, not even during happy hour! You can order affordable sushi and they will prepare it fresh for you. In addition to sushi and sashimi, they also have a variety of izakaya dishes. Despite being part of the 3G Lunch Series, I stumbled upon a new restaurant called "Sushi Izakaya Isshin Honmachi" which opened on December 20th last year. Located in a place that used to be a soba restaurant, the lunch menu at Isshin includes options like a 10-piece sushi set with red miso soup for 980 yen, salmon yukhoe set for 880 yen, fatty mackerel salt-grilled set for 780 yen, fried chicken set for 580 yen, Isshin sashimi set for 980 yen, and tender beef harami set for 980 yen - all with free extra rice. Additionally, after your meal, you can enjoy complimentary coffee, iced tea, cola, or ginger ale. The prices for alcoholic beverages are also surprisingly cheap, with options like highball for 88 yen and Sapporo Black Label draft beer for 230 yen. Even though it was lunchtime, the affordable prices for alcohol were tempting. I ordered the fatty mackerel salt-grilled set for 780 yen, and it was served in about 6-7 minutes. The mackerel was well-cooked and flavorful, with just the right amount of fat and seasoning. The set also came with salad, tofu, pickles, red miso soup, and rice. I had the fried chicken set meal. It was just a regular fried chicken, lacking juiciness and seemed like it was just coated with store-bought fried chicken mix. It cost 780 yen so I guess it's understandable. It seems like they don't put much effort into their lunch menu. There were no other customers while I was eating.
