I enjoyed a variety of dishes including a drinking set, chicken skin with vinegar, chicken miso with cucumber, mochi cheese, agedashi tofu, rolled omelette with dashi, pork belly, enoki mushrooms, and homemade sausage. I also had beer and sake, and the total cost for myself was about 4000 yen. It was delicious and reasonably priced. Thank you for the meal!

I suddenly remembered this place while passing by, so I decided to visit for the first time! This is "Minamichiku Farm," a restaurant run by a professional company that deals with everything from eggs to raising chickens. I couldn't drink alcohol because I came by car, but I thoroughly enjoyed the food! Just as it was featured on TV, the "Sazanami Dori" was incredibly delicious. I was impressed all the way to the chicken porridge and oyakodon at the end! I'll make sure to come back when I can drink alcohol again. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

This is my first time having lunch at JR Kurume Station. I ordered the parent and child rice bowl for 680 yen, which came with salad, chicken broth soup, and pickled vegetables. There seemed to be a little less onion, but there was a half-cooked egg on top in the center. It felt like half egg over rice! After the meal, I also ordered a hot coffee and a creme brulee ice cream, each for 100 yen. The coffee was so-so, but the creme brulee was quite good! All of this for only 880 yen, and they served tea instead of water. Great value for money.

I entered the restaurant to have lunch. At first, I didn't notice the street lined with places to eat, so I went down to the 1st floor after leaving the station and then took the elevator back up to the 2nd floor. Now, for the menu, should I go for fried chicken, tonkatsu, or nanban? I quickly stopped pondering and chose the "Hearty Set Meal" for ¥880. With the hearty set meal, it seems you get all three options I mentioned earlier. The meal was served promptly and had a good amount of food, making it great value for money. The staff were also polite and left a good impression. Thank you for the meal! ♩

I went to JR Kurume Station for some errands. It was 12:30. I peeked into Gurume Shokudo connected to the station building. There are four shops: Manichi (ramen), Rokkakudo (yakitori), Soukoren (yakisoba), and Hana no Mai (izakaya). Three out of four shops were open for business. I decided to have lunch at Rokkakudo. I sat at the calm counter inside the restaurant. The lunch menu at the yakitori restaurant offers 9 options: 1) Chicken and egg rice bowl, 2) Yakitori rice bowl, 3) Fried chicken set, 4) Chicken cutlet set, 5) Chicken nanban set, 6) Fried chicken & cutlet set, 7) Grilled chicken set, 8) Chicken broth dipping noodles, 9) Hearty set meal. I ordered the Yakitori rice bowl for 650 yen. After ordering, I carefully looked at the menu. It mentioned that they have 9 owned farms where they raise Kurume Sazanami Midori and Hakata Ichiban Dori chickens. Exciting, right? The Yakitori rice bowl arrived. It came with yakitori, salad, soup, and pickles. It smelled delicious! The sweet and savory sauce, tender chicken, and green onions made the rice go down smoothly. I thought there was a bit less yakitori, but there was a hidden onsen egg inside! A delightful surprise. I enjoyed the meal with the light and tasty chicken soup. Although I had lunch this time, it seems they also offer daytime drinking, so yakitori and beer at the station! I'd like to try it if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I walked the course from Hiyoshi Shrine to Sasanoyama Castle as part of the JR Kyushu Walking event, and then returned to Rokkakudo. I ordered the set meal again, which came with a special bonus. This time, I chose the hearty set meal (850 yen) which included Chicken Nanban as an additional set to what I had previously eaten. The Chicken Nanban was sliced relatively thin, with four pieces served with vegetables. The tartar sauce didn't have much acidity, but it was not bad. It seemed like there was no sweet vinegar sauce, but perhaps the sauce itself contained sweet vinegar? With fried chicken, chicken cutlet, and Chicken Nanban, it was truly a hearty meal for 850 yen. It was surprisingly good. Thank you for the meal.

I traveled all the way to Kurume City, the third largest city in Fukuoka Prefecture, for a business trip. The clock tower in the station square, where the Kyushu Shinkansen also stops, plays melodies by local artists such as Seiko Matsuda and The Checkers every hour. It has a nice local touch. I decided to have lunch inside the station building, which was built in conjunction with the Shinkansen station development. As I was looking around, I suddenly came across a sign for the origin of tonkotsu ramen! I had always associated tonkotsu ramen with Hakata's food stalls, so I was surprised to find out that it originated here in Kurume. A few hours earlier, I had been researching whether to try yakitori or Kurume's specialty, and I ended up at Rokkaku Michi. As a lone wanderer, I quickly found a seat at the counter and ordered the yakitori bowl for 650 yen. After a short wait, the bowl arrived. The combination of generous sauce-covered yakitori and rice was not what I had expected, but the refined and light flavor of the yakitori, along with the nori, egg hidden beneath the yakitori, was a perfect trio that I couldn't resist. After finishing my meal and savoring the chicken broth soup, I felt refreshed and ready for my afternoon meeting.

I participated in a walking event in Kurume, which took about 3 hours round trip to the Kurume City Art Museum. Along the way, I took breaks at key points, so even though it was past 12:30 pm, I had time for lunch. As part of the walking event, there was a special service for participants at Rokkakudo in Kurume Station, located on the second floor of Ekimachi 1-chome. This place is originally a yakitori restaurant where you can enjoy Kurume's specialty yakitori at a reasonable price. I visited for the first time during lunchtime, and the atmosphere was different from nighttime. The restaurant has around 7-8 counter seats and several table seats. The lunch menu mainly consists of chicken dishes, with the yakitori bowl being a popular choice. I ordered a set meal, which included chicken nuggets and chicken cutlets (750 yen). The dish arrived after a while, with 3 pieces each of chicken nuggets made from thigh meat and chicken cutlets made from breast meat. I sprinkled salt on the chicken nuggets and had the chicken cutlets with sauce. The chicken cutlets were light and crispy, while the chicken nuggets were juicy despite their decent size. The rice and pickles were good, but the unique part was the soup, which was chicken soup with a taste similar to sukiyaki broth, albeit in a smaller portion. Overall, in terms of cost performance, it was not bad. Thank you for the meal.

Located outside the ticket gates of Kurume Station, this yakitori restaurant in the station building is a convenient choice for those looking to quickly enjoy Kurume-style grilled chicken. The menu may not have stood out in terms of unique offerings. There aren't many dining options near JR Kurume Station.

I visited this restaurant while on a business trip to Kurume. I wanted to have lunch near the station, so this place was convenient. I had a grilled chicken bowl, and the grilled leeks in it were delicious. I learned that in the Kyushu region, they use a sweeter sauce. The miso soup was also sweet and comforting. It was lunchtime and the locals were crowded. Everyone seemed familiar with the place, ordering by the numbers on the menu. I ordered with a smaller portion of rice, which was just right for me.

I had a delicious meal at Rokkakudo at Kurume Station, from appetizers to yakitori. Next time I visit, I plan to try their lunch menu.

The yakitori rice bowl set and the pudding yakitori rice bowl both had a soft-boiled egg on top, making it satisfying until the end. The pudding was also satisfying.

It was a unique flavor of fried chicken. The taste was strong but delicious. However, I will never go back because the man in the kitchen was talking without a mask.

This was my first time in Kurume for work. I arrived earlier than my appointment time and wanted to have lunch somewhere, but unfortunately it was pouring rain outside. I found this place inside the station. It had a few counter seats and tables, and seemed like a yakitori restaurant with about 7 or 8 lunch set options. I ordered the yakitori bowl that was born from the staff meal menu that day. The juicy chicken was delicious, and the grilled green onions were also tasty. All this for 650 yen seemed like a good deal. Although it's a station where the Shinkansen stops, it's not that big, so you can have a peaceful meal. It was a bit strange to see the manager or someone similar sleeping at one of the empty tables.

The last restaurant in Kurume rice was decided to have lunch at this restaurant located inside the station. It is next to the ramen shop visited on the first day. It was a little past 1 pm when we visited, and there were few customers. We chose to sit at the spacious central table instead of the counter. It was nice to be served cold tea instead of water. There were several lunch menu options, and I ordered the grilled chicken bowl. It was priced at 650 yen, which was pleasing. The bowl was generously topped with grilled chicken and green onions. It also came with a side salad and pickles in chicken soup. The sweet and savory sauce of the grilled chicken made the rice delicious. The grilled chicken was tender and tasty. The soup was not a large portion but had a refreshing and flavorful taste. The portion of rice was quite generous, so I think it was a good deal for 650 yen. The Chicken Nanban was said to be the number one lunch menu item, but the grilled chicken bowl is also recommended. The restaurant operates as an izakaya specializing in grilled chicken at night. The staff was attentive, refilling tea and providing polite service. Being located inside the station, it seems like a good place to eat even when the train time is approaching. It was a good choice to end the Kurume rice experience here. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant "Yakitori Rokkakudo" located in the dining area "Gurume Shokudo" on the east side of JR Kurume Station in mid-March during my trip to Kyushu. The restaurant has a total of 30 seats, including counter seats and table seats. I was seated at the center seat of the counter. The staff, who were young and cheerful, managed the place, making it easy for solo customers like me to feel comfortable and enjoy a relaxing atmosphere. I started with the "Banquet Set B" (1000 yen), which included draft beer and a variety of grilled skewers. The skewers included heart, homemade wiener, breast meat, shishamo, and pork belly. Each skewer was juicy and full of flavor, making every bite a delight. The homemade wiener made from chicken breast was particularly delicious and unique. After the beer, I decided to try a local sake and asked for the spiciest one available. A female staff member poured the sake into a glass placed on a masu. Although I forgot the brand, the dry and spicy sake was a perfect match for the food. Next, I ordered the "Kurume Sazanamidori Chicken Tataki" (680 yen), which had a chewy texture and was also delicious. I enjoyed another glass of the same local sake. With that, I settled the bill for the night. It was a delightful evening spent enjoying good food and drinks during my trip. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I stayed near JR Kurume Station. Inside the station building, there is a dining area called Gurume Shokudo with various restaurants. I found a yakitori restaurant and couldn't resist trying their evening set, which includes 5 yakitori skewers and a draft beer for 1000 yen. The yakitori skewers were priced around 150-200 yen each, so it felt like a good deal. You can also choose to have the chicken skewers charcoal-grilled. Among the 5 skewers, the pork belly was particularly delicious. I also ordered extra items like chicken gizzard and tsukune. The gizzard is made by boiling and then grilling pork intestines, offering a mix of tender and crispy textures. In Tokyo, they might use white intestines instead. I once heard that there is a difference between "yakitori" and "yakitori-ya" written in hiragana. Yakitori refers to skewered chicken and chicken offal, while yakitori-ya includes skewered chicken, pork, and other meats and offal. In Kurume, it's more like "yakitori" as they grill a variety of items. That's what makes Kurume yakitori enjoyable with its variety.

There is a gourmet street with about four shops near the escalator at the east exit of JR Kurume Station, and one of them is this izakaya where you can enjoy Kurume yakitori. It has a slightly stylish atmosphere like a regular izakaya, perhaps because it has windows on the second floor. The counter seats with a lineup of sake and shochu bottles are cozy, and the table seats also seem spacious. The restaurant mainly uses ingredients from Fukuoka prefecture, such as Kurume and Hakata local chicken, and Ukiha city pork "Eranoi-to". It is a perfect place to enjoy local flavors. - Charcoal-grilled Chicken (780 yen) Chicken charcoal-grilled with a burnt finish using charcoal fire. It is a Miyazaki specialty dish, with a slightly blackened oiliness that adds a rich aroma. It is firm, providing a chewy texture, allowing you to enjoy the juiciness of the meat fibers and oil along with the aroma. - Fried Tofu in Broth (350 yen) Soft tofu with a milky texture, topped with a soft and gooey fried surface. The fried tofu is soaked in a slightly sweet and moderately salty broth, making it rich in flavor. - Yakitori "Darm" (200 yen) When it comes to Kurume yakitori, the intestine (Darm) is usually prepared at most restaurants as a part not commonly seen in other prefectures. The unique smell of offal is still present, and the softness of the intestine releases oil in the mouth. Despite having some uniqueness, it has a pleasant texture and taste that is easy to eat as offal. - Yakitori "Tsukune" (150 yen) Tsukune with a ground meat texture. The sauce is not too strong, allowing the ingredients to shine. As a staple of Kurume yakitori, it is served with ponzu cabbage as an appetizer. The cabbage is also served with the charcoal-grilled dishes, giving an impression of being cabbage-heavy. - Barley Shochu "Tsukushi" (350 yen) Barley shochu from Nishiyoshida Sake Brewery in Fukuoka prefecture, with a rich flavor at normal pressure. It is a thick and rich alcohol that seems likely to cause a hangover, perfect for those who enjoy drinking. - Sake "Aota" Special Junmai (600 yen) A fruity sake from Yame with a strong apple-like flavor. Although each item seems slightly priced, the charcoal-grilled and one cup of sake set for 1,000 yen is a great deal.
