In June 2023, I was in Kabukicho, Shinjuku for a solo trip, leaving work behind. After spending a night in Sapporo, I visited my hometown of Koshinai City before staying in Takikawa and then Nakagawa, where I was born. Finally, I stayed in Wakkanai. It was a great trip, although it was challenging to stay connected with my smartphone everywhere. As the journey came to an end, I decided to spend time in Shinjuku, where I had spent my student days. After checking into the hotel, I headed out to have a drink in Kabukicho, which I hadn't done in about 40 years. It was also about 30 years since I last wandered into the area. After having a drink at a yakitori restaurant, I headed to Golden Gai. The transformation of the area was both surprising and amusing. The dark, shady atmosphere and the gay man walking around that used to be there were nowhere to be seen. I was supposed to have ramen as a final meal, but ended up visiting a few more bars in Golden Gai and got too drunk to even take photos. I barely made it back to the hotel. The next morning, I was dealing with a massive hangover, but I knew I had to eat breakfast. The breakfast area was bustling with foreign tourists, all patiently waiting in line. Since I was alone, I sat in a corner of the counter. I had ham, eggs, and bread, which was more than enough for me. Thank you for the meal.

I stayed at a hotel in Shinjuku, Tokyo, called Toyoko Inn Shinjuku Kabukicho for a night before attending an event starting on Saturday morning and ending on Sunday evening. The hotel is located near Shin-Okubo in Kabukicho, with a batting center next door. Toyoko Inn is known for its cost-effectiveness and is a popular nationwide business hotel chain. The breakfast provided was simple and complimentary, typical of the chain. The breakfast area had around 10 counter seats, one two-person table, and eleven two-person tables. On the first day, I arrived at 8:32 am and found the place quite crowded, with a variety of dishes available. The majority of guests seemed to be of Chinese or Korean descent, which was interesting. The breakfast included bread, rice balls, salad, various side dishes, soup, and drinks. On the second day, I arrived early at 6:35 am to avoid the crowd.

The morning meals at Toyoko Inn are made by local mothers, so they have a nostalgic and gentle taste. I always enjoy adding something between the bread slices to customize it. It's always something to look forward to. Thank you so much! Thank you! Thank you!

The ladies' membership at Toyoko Inn used to offer 1 free night for every 5 nights stayed, with a good redemption rate. However, starting from March, it will change to 1 free night for every 10 nights stayed. Therefore, it is more beneficial to use up points instead. I stayed here for 3 nights to use up my points. Although I didn't take any photos, I did capture the complimentary breakfast. On the second day, they served curry which was delicious, but the breakfast curry at the Toyoko Inn in Kushiro with plenty of seafood was unbelievably tasty and unforgettable. The breakfast here includes various onigiri, white rice or mixed rice, 2 types of dressing, cabbage salad, tamagoyaki, harusame salad, pickles, meatballs, and a daily rotation of potato salad or macaroni salad. For dessert, they offered almond jelly, among other options. Coffee can be taken to the room in a paper cup. The nearest station is Higashi-Shinjuku Station, and there are plenty of shops around. It's convenient, so I will definitely use it again.

I stayed at the Toyoko Inn in Kabukicho for a business trip. The hotel is located just a short walk away from the bustling entertainment district, about 10 minutes from Shinjuku Station. It's nice to be a little away from the hustle and bustle. There are quite a number of foreign guests as well as staff at this hotel. Breakfast is included for guests, starting at 7:00 am, but there is already a long line forming around 6:50 am. The breakfast includes onigiri, rice with side dishes, salad, simmered dish, bread, and drinks. It's a decent spread for a complimentary meal, but the small venue requires some patience and cooperation. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Walking from Shinjuku Station through the entertainment district of Kabukicho is a downside, but the hotel itself is relatively clean. The breakfast has a limited selection, but it's sufficient for a quick bite. The onigiri was delicious. Most importantly, staying on a Saturday night for 9000 yen is quite a good deal for Tokyo.

When I tried to buy a ticket to go to Osaka after buying souvenirs at Tokyo Station, I was shocked by the crowdedness. The Shinkansen was not running due to a power outage in Shizuoka, so I had to stay in Tokyo for another night and went back to Shinjuku. I was too tired for a sauna stay, so I stayed at Toyoko Inn where members get 20% off on Sundays. I had a peaceful sleep at the hotel, enjoyed the free breakfast, and geared up for the final stretch! #ShinkansenNotRunning #ToyokoInnShinjukuKabukicho #20PercentOffOnSundays #FreeBreakfast

The series of business hotels in Shinjuku Kabukicho has continued for 4 days now. For breakfast, we had "mushroom curry," "mixed rice," "mushroom curry," and today we had "onigiri." The onigiri had seasoning sprinkled on the surface, but there were no fillings inside. It's a complimentary breakfast, so there are no complaints. I was more pleased with the simmered dish, tamagoyaki, and fried sausages. There were also fresh vegetables. Overall, I think the breakfast at this hotel chain is of a high level for being complimentary. The staff are mostly foreigners, but they all greet you warmly. The rooms are spacious compared to another hotel chain. If you're unsure, I think it's a good business hotel to stay at.

【3-day stay】The series of Shinjuku Kabukicho business hotels continues, with breakfast for the third day in a row. Yesterday was "mixed rice," but today it's once again "mushroom curry." It's technically a complimentary breakfast, so it's totally fine. In fact, the fact that they don't serve the same thing every day shows that they are considerate of guests staying for multiple nights. We also get fresh vegetables and meatballs as promised. With miso soup on the side, I feel satisfied after eating in the morning. After the meal, we are also served instant coffee and corn soup as a bonus. I can't help but feel a little guilty... (laughs)

It seems like it has turned into a series of reviews for business hotels in Kabukicho, Shinjuku, but today is the second day of breakfast. Yesterday it was curry, but today it was "mixed rice". It was most likely a commercially available mix in the rice cooker, but since it's a complimentary breakfast, it's totally fine. What's even more exciting is that there was simmered vegetables and cabbage salad with sausage as promised. I won't talk about the taste, but I'm grateful for being provided with such a variety of dishes, so I'll give them extra points for service. The dining area is still crowded as usual, but when I see groups sitting at tables without ordering anything after finishing their meal, I can't help but feel the cultural difference. I also feel sorry for the management, as it must be quite challenging.

【Revisit after 10 days】I live in Shinjuku and my life has turned into staying at different hotels in Shinjuku. So, I stayed at this business hotel again and had breakfast. This time it was a weekday, so it wasn't too crowded, which was a relief. When I arrived at the breakfast venue before 7:30, they had mushroom curry! Last time, it was sold out because I came late. On this day, while I was eating, I heard them announce that the curry was sold out again. Meatballs and salad are also a standard offering. As for the taste, considering it's a free breakfast, it was not bad at all. In fact, it was quite good. The generous amount of mushrooms in the curry was really wonderful.

It might be the hotel I use the most at Toyoko Inn in March 2017. But this is my first post! lol Even though I'm a little hungover, I always go to the lobby next to the esophagus for breakfast. This time, I had breakfast with various foreigners. I had two rice balls, a little curry rice, some meatballs and simmered hijiki, and a lot of salad. The miso soup didn't look like it had any ingredients, but it was a vegetable-rich, slightly light miso soup. It's nice that Toyoko Inn here uses the member's card as the room key, right? I wish all Toyoko Inns nationwide would switch to card keys instead of room keys. Now, I'm going to head to work through the morning Kabukicho.

During my business trip to Tokyo, I stayed at this hotel for its convenient location. It's a business hotel with all the necessary amenities, and as a female member, I find the loyalty program quite good so I use it occasionally. The atmosphere is not exactly cozy, so it can feel a bit tight for multiple nights. The complimentary breakfast includes various onigiri, mixed rice, several types of bread (rolls, croissants), side dishes like simmered hijiki seaweed, potato salad, sausages, broccoli, and pickles, as well as coffee, green tea, and other drinks. While not extravagant, it's more than enough for a business hotel breakfast. The menu may vary depending on the location, and the miso soup tastes slightly different at each hotel. The staff serving breakfast are very friendly and their cheerful greetings are always a nice touch. It's interesting how their tone of voice is the same at every Tokyu Inn (laughs). I tried to make my breakfast look a bit nicer for the photo, but I still have a lot to learn (laughs). The area around the hotel has a somewhat sketchy vibe, so it's safer to come from Higashi-Shinjuku Station rather than Shinjuku Station. However, the hotel itself is clean and safe!

I stayed for 4 nights this time. The familiar simple breakfast buffet is excellent value for money. Despite being in the top city in Japan, I am grateful that you can provide this service at a reasonable price. Thank you for taking care of me!

I stayed at this Toyoko Inn because I had an early morning tour departing from Shinjuku. I was a little worried being in the middle of Kabukicho, but it was actually quite quiet. One advantage of this hotel is that you can pay with JCB gift cards or other vouchers when booking through their official website. This time, I had accumulated enough points for a free night's stay. As for breakfast, it was basically the same as Toyoko Inn's usual buffet, with the only difference being that the rice was cooked with other ingredients. I prefer not to overeat, so I stuck with bread.

In the middle of Kabukicho, there is a chain hotel that offers free breakfast for guests only. On a holiday morning, there was a long line for the self-service breakfast, even though there weren't many options. The space was cramped, making it difficult to move around, and all the tables were crowded. The breakfast included onigiri, several side dishes (vegetables, hijiki seaweed, potato salad, meatballs), and miso soup. The breakfast was typical for a free meal, and it was appreciated considering it was included in the room rate. The cooking seemed to be done by foreign staff, but the taste was fine. Some guests even brought additional side dishes from convenience stores... (laughs)
