After going to a tea shop, I went to Shimaya to buy souvenirs. I bought the classic strawberry daifuku (250 yen including tax) and two sets of two uguisu mochi (260 yen including tax). The strawberry daifuku is bright and eye-catching, while the uguisu mochi was something new for me to try. I bought the strawberry daifuku for my children and my partner's family as souvenirs. The uguisu mochi had a light yellow-green color and was filled with plenty of sweet bean paste. Although the mochi was thin, the taste of the bean paste was delightful and spread in my mouth after taking a bite.

March 26, 2021 (Friday) My number one favorite is the strawberry daifuku (^o^)/ I ordered it from a friend's family that I have known since my student days, after several years. The white bean paste has a faint hint of cinnamon, and the sweet mochi? is sweet, with a slight acidity from the sweet strawberry, creating a perfect harmony. The white chocolate daifuku has a condensed milk-like sweetness that hits the spot in your brain. Oh, and just to reassure you, I am a frugal person who values cost performance.

Fruit daifuku is always focused on seasonal fruits. As autumn deepens, I imagine a persimmon daifuku would ripen inside the white bean paste... During this season, I went to Shimaya to buy orange daifuku. I also bought the classic strawberry daifuku to share with my family. The strawberries were small, as they are not in season. The orange daifuku was quite large, with a perfect balance of sweetness from the white bean paste and juicy orange flavor. It's always fun to browse through the different products and choose which ones to buy.

Shimaya is located very close to the shopping street in front of the station. I have used it several times and almost conquered their fruit daifuku. A few years ago, fruit daifuku became popular. Later, this place was introduced in a TV show and I visited it. The daifuku here are small, but the balance of sweetness and sourness is just right. In addition to traditional Japanese sweets, they also sell rice cakes and red rice. The prices for rice dishes seem relatively cheap if you look closely at the menu. Every time I leave, the owner says "Take care" and sees me off, which makes me feel happy. I always enjoy shopping here.

Before January 11, 2016, a customer from my workplace brought me a delicious fruit daifuku as a souvenir. I decided to visit the shop where it came from because I wanted to try their strawberry daifuku. I found the shop by going south from Imazato Station, walking through the shopping street and turning right at the first corner. I arrived around 3 pm and they still had the strawberry daifuku for 170 yen each. They also had other flavors like chestnut, matcha milk, chocolate, and orange, all priced at 170 yen. Apart from daifuku, they also sold traditional Japanese sweets and rice-based snacks. The shop had a nostalgic atmosphere of a traditional Japanese confectionery. The strawberry daifuku had a white bean paste filling with a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity from the strawberry. Each daifuku was individually wrapped, so it's best to consume them promptly. Overall, it was delicious and enjoyable.

Chacha loves strawberry daifuku. She eats a lot of them every year. There is a traditional Japanese sweets shop near Imazato Station that sells a variety of fruit daifuku. Before visiting a friend's house, she bought a few as a snack and two for herself. The strawberry daifuku is wrapped in mochi and is on the smaller side. There was also a persimmon-shaped wagashi with white bean paste inside, but it lacked the persimmon flavor. Lately, many wagashi shops are using mochi to wrap their fruit daifuku, perhaps because people prefer the soft texture. Chacha prefers daifuku with mochi wrapping over those with mochi, even though they tend to get harder over time. She enjoys the mochi-like texture of daifuku with mochi wrapping.

On February 23, 2013 (Saturday), the strawberry daifuku for 170 yen with its consistently delicious taste is available. Discover a new deliciousness with the chestnut milk daifuku for 170 yen. Sorry for the old information from 2006, but I can't forget the strawberry daifuku here. It's not always available, but it is usually sold from around November. It's best to call and confirm before visiting. I'm generally not interested in sweets, but sometimes I am captivated by something. That something is the strawberry daifuku here. The sweetness of the strawberry, combined with the sweetness of the red bean paste, is just perfect. The acidity, aroma, sweetness of the red bean paste, and the texture of the mochi all come together perfectly, making me feel happy. Unfortunately, I haven't tried other fruit daifuku that are available when strawberries are out of season. There is also a cafe called Shimaya Ayaka, which is part of the same group, in the neighborhood. This is not a biased review because it's a friend's shop, but a genuine impression. Highly recommended!

There is a shop near Kintetsu Imazato Station. They also have their products in nearby supermarkets and cafes. The shop is small and feels like a traditional Japanese sweets shop. The fruit daifuku is usually priced at 150 yen. The size of the fruit is average. The prices are low, so it's understandable. They have a variety of options depending on the season. It's convenient to buy when you feel like having a snack. I wonder if it's run by just one person, they seem busy but still take the time to explain things. Thank you very much.

I often buy steamed buns at this store. I think it has a high cost-performance compared to other stores, so I buy it.
