I was born and raised in Kishidado, Fuse City, Osaka Prefecture. Although Fuse City is now known as Higashi-Osaka City, I moved to a new location within the same city due to my childhood home becoming too small. About 50 years ago, Fuse City merged with Kawachi City and Hiraoka City to become Higashi-Osaka City. I lived in Kishidado, Fuse City for 43 years before moving. Even after moving, I often visited my childhood home with my sons to see my late mother. The area where the family restaurant used to be at the Kishidado intersection has now changed. It made me feel lonely. My late mother used to go to that restaurant with her grandchildren, but the only remaining place from our memories is "Washoku Sato Kishidado Branch." This is the only place in Kishidado, my hometown, that holds memories with my mother. Therefore, it is a restaurant filled with my personal memories and that's why I gave it a high rating. Today, I had the daily special which was the "Mixed Fry Set." It included fried white fish, beef croquette, and shrimp fry. I personally do not like fish except for sashimi or sushi because of the bones. However, for those who enjoy fish, the thick and satisfying portions without bones or fishy smell would be delightful. The croquette was crispy and delicious, and the plump shrimp was tasty. I was worried about the fried food being heavy on the stomach, but the oil used was good. My stomach is fine even at my age. The fried food was gentle on the elderly as well. The set also included a mountain of cabbage salad, pickles, white rice, red miso soup, chawanmushi, and a choice of mini udon or mini soba. I chose the mini udon. The dashi soup had a good flavor with bonito and kelp, and the light soy sauce was just right. The udon was round, not square, which is the traditional Osaka style. My father, who passed away 47 years ago, used to say that udon should be swallowed, not chewed, to enjoy the smooth texture. This udon was the Osaka style with a round shape. The total cost was 645 yen including tax. The only difference from before was that the tea was self-serve now. The ordering process was done through a touch panel, which I couldn't operate, so the staff kindly assisted me. The customers ranged from a group of women in their late 20s to elderly couples in their 70s. I was glad to see that the restaurant is still popular among many people. It was a great experience, thank you for the meal.
