Before climbing to the famous cherry blossom spot, Matsumae Castle, we had lunch. The restaurant had moved, so we missed it as the map on Tabelog was incorrect. The interior had tatami seating which was almost full, while the counter had some seats available, with many families and groups dining. We ordered the "jyou nigiri" set for 1700 yen. We were quickly provided with hot towels and tea served in teacups with the restaurant's Ezo (Hokkaido) name on them, which was delicious. After about a 10-minute wait, our order arrived on wooden geta sandals, served over the counter. The set included 8 pieces of nigiri and 4 rolls, for a total of 12 pieces. Starting from the bottom left, we had abalone, hairy crab, squid, flying fish roe, yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna, flounder, shrimp, cucumber roll, pickled plum roll, cucumber roll, and minced tuna with green onion roll. The abalone, bluefin tuna, flounder, and shrimp were particularly delicious. The quality of the ingredients was high and tasty, so I would like to try the "special" set for 2400 yen next time. Thank you for the delicious "jyou nigiri" sushi.
