You can enjoy various flavors of soft serve ice cream at the racecourse. Located in a position overlooking the paddock, it might be best to enjoy it from here during the summer. It's a wonderful shop where you can heal your heart, hurt from losing at the races, with sweetness.

After the calmness of the coronavirus, I finally got to visit the G3 race at Kokura Racecourse, which I've been wanting to go to for a long time! I'm so excited to see the horses. I thought about having lunch first, but every place had long lines. Both the food court and restaurants had lines of about 20 people each... I found a place called "Nakatsu Karaage Moriyama" in a corner of the food court where the line was short (only about 2 people), so I ended up snacking on some karaage there... Small size for 500 yen, large for 1000 yen. The small size had about 5 pieces, so I went for the large. They were continuously frying the karaage, so I got to eat them fresh. They were very juicy and delicious! A bit pricey due to the location, but that's understandable. There were no water stations, so you either had to buy beer or juice, or get some tea from the tea servers scattered around the racecourse. It would be nice if they accepted payment methods like PayPay, but all the shops were cash only.

Vol.2 "Kyoto Racecourse" has good reviews, so isn't Kokura Racecourse also nice? The food court has a good amount of seating for the few customers, so it's rarely full which is convenient. They have Kentucky Fried Chicken and Ramen Yamaokaya, but I recommend the long-standing udon restaurant "Tachibana". In the central area, sometimes there are no seats so you have to eat in the food court, but here it's comfortable. On the other hand, unlike central racecourses, there is no private restaurant for horse owners. I haven't dined with horse owners myself, but even owners of Grade 1 winning horses seem to eat in the regular restaurant, which seems a bit inhospitable. Additionally, out of the two restaurants, one closed down and the remaining one serves poorly poured beer. If you complain about bad service at a cheap bar, you might be told to go to a high-end or chain restaurant, but for owners investing millions, shouldn't they receive better treatment?
