Next to Hakataza in Shimokawabata, there is a small space in a paid parking lot that houses a bar called "GARDENBAR&CAFE" with a look of a food stall. Despite the name, there is no garden, which made me curious. Upon entering, I was greeted by a friendly master and beautiful female staff. Regular customers were already drinking early in the evening, so it seemed like a casual bar. They serve standard drinks like beer and whiskey. It's a casual place for a quick drink. They are open until late, so it could be a good spot for a last drink even when you're tipsy.

The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making it a safe and comfortable place for solo visitors. The staff and customers are friendly, and the prices are very affordable. It's a cozy spot for a casual drink or a light meal, with a bill of around 2,700 yen for two people enjoying seven drinks and two snacks. 【Revisit】I'm in the Nakasu Kawabata area of Fukuoka City. Our company's important person has finally returned. So, let's go relax a bit. That's why I'm heading to "Garden." It's still bustling with a lively atmosphere. I ordered a draft beer and looked around. The manager mentioned they have oden. Oden here? It's unexpected but might be nice. I headed to where the oden was kept and found it being kept warm on a barbecue grill set. It's a pretty unique touch! The taste is like homemade, simple but delicious. Next, I had some raw ham with crackers. No fancy ingredients like Iberico pork, just simple home-cooked food. But the atmosphere of enjoying drinks here makes everything taste even better! I switched to Campari soda and ordered an onion bacon pizza. It's a pizza that you might only eat occasionally, but the cheese was gooey and tasty! Today, Kei-chan was having a good time with customers, holding a Shima beauty. When I mentioned our different preferences in shochu, Kei-chan said she's a "Black Kirishima fan." Despite some small talk, the enjoyable night continued. It's been a while since my last visit today. I had been drinking at a food stall called "Okamoto," so I started with a Vinius Chardonnay white wine here. As always, the conversation flows smoothly. The owner, manager, Keiko-chan, and the customer, as well as the jazz singer & songwriter matsuura masumi who is visiting as a customer. It was a fun time as usual. Although I don't know much about wine despite being a wine lover, this Chardonnay isn't bad at all. Anyway, it's about time for me to go home. I thought about ordering the shop's recommended "tantanmen," but then I saw "Kei-chan's Green Curry" on the menu! Oh, how can I not try this! However, being a bit of a wimp, I custom ordered a "half" portion (^^;) and requested it to be extra spicy. Sorry for being picky (^^;) The Green Curry is as shown in the photo, full of ingredients, and even the half portion has a good amount of volume. There are plenty of vegetables and mushrooms. The taste is quite delicious! I ordered it extra spicy, so it turned red instead of green (Kei-chan's words) (^^;) Oh, no matter when I come here, I can enjoy it (^^;) It has a stylish atmosphere like a bar, but a wide range of people, young and old, come here. On the evening of October 18, 2014 (Saturday), I flew from Kansai to Fukuoka. The purpose of this trip was to enjoy the night in Hakata. I tried delicious motsunabe, decent yakitori, and made a spontaneous stop at "GARDEN BAR & CAFE." It's a small container-like shop, and I wasn't sure if it was the kind of place tourists would go to, but I thought, "If it's not great, I'll just have a drink and leave." I wanted to interact with the locals in Hakata, so I gathered my courage and went in. And it was a huge success! First of all, it was cheap! Wine starting from 300 yen per glass, and I believe sake was also 300 yen. Since I was already full, I ordered a cheese platter to snack on while drinking. The regular customers started talking to me. It was so much fun! The friendly Hakata owner and the very sociable regulars made the experience enjoyable. I thought, "If there was a place like this near my home, it would be so much fun." I didn't want to leave, but ended up staying way past closing time, enjoying the drinks. I would love to visit again when traveling to Hakata. The conversations with the regulars were the best accompaniment. Thank you very much.
