We visited the sake brewery "Yamaguchi Sake Brewery" in Kitano, where the atmosphere was like a garden with nightingales. Although my child suddenly became interested in Japanese sake for some reason, we visited a few other breweries in the Mitsui and Kitano area before finally arriving at this old brewery. Unfortunately, there were no tasting sessions available, so we purchased a bottle of Junmai Ginjo for 1393 yen. It was delicious, with a refreshing taste perfect for summer. Overall, it was a nice experience.

【Revisit】A few years ago, the "Uguisu Toro" was crowned as the best plum wine in Japan. It is pronounced as "Ou Toro" - a thick plum wine with a rich mouthfeel and a sharp throat sensation. The deliciousness of the plum is conveyed directly! It is a "premium sake" that makes you want to drink it when you remember it. It costs 3,218 yen for a large bottle and 1,598 yen for a small bottle. Thank you for the meal. I had seen various advertisements for it and felt the urge to try it, so I came to Kitano. I'm not particularly a fan of plum wine, I just like alcohol (laughs). "Uguisu Toro". It is pronounced as "Ou Toro". Made using plums from Oita for a village revitalization project, this plum wine was completed by the 11th generation of Yamaguchi Sake Brewery. It costs 1,554 yen for 720ml, which is a modest price for being the best in Japan. I took it out of the refrigerator where I had been chilling it since yesterday. "Since the pulp has settled, please shake it well before drinking." I gently shook it and poured it. It's thick and gooey. This is the first time I've had such a thick plum wine. Truly "Ou Toro". It's the complete opposite of modern plum wines. You can hardly feel the pulp. It's not sweet, more on the acidic side. But it's not sticky. This is a gem worthy of my 500th review. It was a goal to reach 500 reviews. When I started on Tabelog, I never thought I would get this far. Those who write 1000, 2000 reviews are truly amazing. Thanks to that, the number of my fellow reviewers has gradually increased. I don't know how far I'll go, but please continue to support me in the future! It was a perfect 500th review for a sake lover like me. Thank you for the meal.

In October 2014, a friend in Fukuoka got me "Niwatori JUGEM" from Yamaguchi Sake Brewery, which is known for its cute design. The label was designed by Jiro Ando. JUGEM is the first sake made using the sake rice "Jugonmugi" developed jointly by a brewery and farmers in Fukuoka. Jugonmugi was created in 2012 by crossing Yamada Nishiki and Yumeikkon, and it is the third most suitable sake rice in Fukuoka. The main label features the symbol for "infinity" and the number "88" representing the number of steps in the rice cultivation process. The label is made of semi-transparent paper that becomes translucent under pressure, creating an interesting and unique design. The cap also has a cute bird mark. I decided to enjoy JUGEM with friends at our regular sake tasting event. We paired it with a set of Oita snacks from Shokuhouzousaku at Sansou Muryoutou in Yufuin. JUGEM is a refreshing and easy-to-drink sake with a hint of acidity and a sharp taste. It pairs well with any dish and is dangerously easy to drink. Despite its cute label, it has a mischievous charm that makes you want to keep drinking. We finished a 720ml bottle in no time, savoring every sip. I hadn't tried much Fukuoka sake before, but it's clear that a city known for its nightlife has good sake too. I can't wait to drink JUGEM again! Cheers to JUGEM!

Yamaguchi Sake Brewery is located about a 15-minute drive from Kurume Station. They are well known for their brand "Niwano Uguisu." Before visiting Kurume Meat Off, I decided to go there by car. I now have the opportunity to visit the brewery directly and hear about their dedication to shochu and sake from the brewery owner, which has really increased my attachment to these beverages. Although factory tours are currently not available due to construction, the store selling their products is open and they allow tastings. While you can also purchase their products online, there are limited edition sake, sake lees, and plum wine that can only be obtained by visiting the brewery in person, which is great! Today, I was the driver so I couldn't taste the samples, but the person I was with tried them and based on their feedback and the information from the brewery owner, I made some purchases. - Special Plum Wine "Uguisu Tomari Uguisu Toro" 720ml 1554 yen - Sake Sparkling 360ml 840 yen - Junmai Daiginjo 720ml 1496 yen - Nuru Hada 720ml 1260 yen - Sake Lees 400 yen During the period from March 20th to March 31st, they are holding an event called "Chikugo no Dozou," featuring a patchwork exhibition in the main house and brewery, as well as sake tastings and sales. It's a lovely brewery that is making efforts to create connections with consumers. I couldn't resist and joined their fan club, the "Uguisu Club." Membership Fee: 2,000 yen Benefits: Invitation to new sake unveiling events, free entry to "Chikugo no Dozou," a gift of Junmai Ginjo new sake selected by the brewmaster (720ml), seasonal updates (spring & fall), and 3% off all products at the brewery opening event. I'm looking forward to it! [Link to the club: http://niwanouguisu.com/uguisu-club/]

I visited the famous Yamaguchi Brewery owned by Reiko Yamaguchi, known for their patchwork, and then stopped by Uguisu no Niwa in Kitanocho. This place is famous for their Uguisu Toro, which won the award for the best plum wine last year. From October 1st to 31st, there is a festival of sake, food, and patchwork at the Chikugo Dozou. I enjoyed Reiko Yamaguchi's patchwork, had a meal for 500 yen, and bought some Uguisu no Niwa sake as a souvenir. First, I visited Yamaguchi's grand mansion, where patchwork could be seen everywhere. Then, I was amazed by the patchwork displayed on the second floor of the brewery. For lunch, I had the vegetable and meat wrap set for 500 yen, while my friend had the pork cartilage genmai tea pickles for 500 yen. The meat wrap was tender and paired well with the rich sauce. My friend's pork cartilage tea pickles were like risotto. After the meal, we went shopping and bought the famous Uguisu Toro, the best plum wine in Japan. We bought around six bottles as souvenirs. A pack of plum pickled in plum wine was also cheap at 350 yen. The plum tasting here is a no-go for drivers, as eating the plums and driving under the influence seems likely. Let's support the revitalization of Kitanocho. Interestingly, the real Kiichiro from Tokyo, Kiichiro Takayama, is somehow related to the Yamaguchi Brewery, and had a nice chat with Reiko Yamaguchi and the company president. Even the fake Kiichiro was treated well.

Today, my wife and I set out to visit a ramen shop in Kurume from the morning. We arrived at the first ramen shop around 12 o'clock, had some ramen, and then wandered around "Yume Town" to kill time before heading to the next ramen shop. While wandering around, we bought Valentine's Day gifts and passed by a liquor store, which reminded me of the plum wine I had with relatives during New Year's. I asked the store clerk if they had "Yamaguchi Sake Brewery" plum wine, but they said it's only available at select stores due to limited supply. So, I decided to go to the brewery thinking they would have it. After searching for the location and setting the navigation, we arrived in Kitano-cho in about 20 minutes. The brewery had a traditional atmosphere, and I quickly found the plum wine I was looking for. The clerk tried to engage in conversation, but I was fixated on the plum wine. When I mentioned that it tasted similar to Nectar by Fujiya, the clerk was momentarily surprised and complimented my taste. The plum wine was really delicious, and I made sure to get the right one, called "Uguisu Toro." It might not be available for online purchase, so be careful!

This time, it's a small talk. ■ Meeting with a trendy liquor store in a cool town I happened to discover a trendy liquor store in Itabashi. I think I'll start buying local sake here from now on. This time, I purchased the following: ★ Uguisu from Uguisu Inari "Niwano Uguisu" @ Yamaguchi Sake Brewery. It has an alcohol content of 6%. It's unfiltered, but there are many cloudy parts even when left still. I'll shake it well before drinking. It flows out thick and creamy, it's irresistible. It smells nice. When I tried it, the refreshing acidity and fruity richness derived from lactic acid fermentation are characteristic and extremely delicious. It's so good that it's a shame to drink it all in one day. I enjoyed it one more time the next day and finished it. This is a definite repurchase, and the town liquor store in Itabashi is also a definite repurchase. Thank you for the meal! \(//∇//)\ ===========

After enjoying golf in the JR infield, I'm on the move. I'm approaching Kitano-cho. Just a few days ago, I came here for work. I'm heading to "Yamaguchi Sake Brewery" to buy some sake for home. It's famous for "Niwatori no Uguisu" sake. The brewery is located along the road leading to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, straight on Prefectural Road 81. The building looks like an old white-walled mansion, with a spacious parking lot on the west side where you can park dozens of cars. There is a large cedar ball hanging at the entrance, giving a sense of the changing seasons. I originally planned to buy the classic "Niwatori no Uguisu" sake, but I changed my mind and decided to get the seasonal limited edition sake. I purchased the "Special Junmai Natsugakoi (1.8L, 2,860 yen, tax included)". I will take it home. It's a matter of personal preference, but when I tried it chilled, it gave an impression of a dry sake. However, it's even better when lightly chilled, with a refreshing fizziness that is pleasant on the palate. Enjoying it with a cucumber and myoga salad, the summer heat seems to vanish. (laughs) It's a refreshing sake that goes down smoothly, so be careful not to drink too much! (laughs) A local sake brewery that continues its tradition and adds modern elements. I want to continue supporting this shop. Thank you for the meal.

Yamaguchi Sake Brewery in Japan has been awarded the best plum wine. I was guided by a MyReviewer to a favorite liquor store in Kokura and received a souvenir, so I am sharing it here. The plum wine has a thick texture with chunks of crushed fruit, and I enjoy it little by little in a small glass with water. I realized I get tipsy easily, so I don't drink outside much. I didn't take any photos, but I actually visited this brewery before. During the Kinabe Off event, I went to eat eel and visited a sake brewery with a sake lover MyReviewer. I didn't buy any because I can't handle alcohol well, but my companion bought some plum fruits pickled in sake lees. It's something you can only buy locally. The area around Kurume has a charming atmosphere with lined up sake breweries. It's a delicious area for those who love sake.
