Located about a 2-3 minute walk northwest from Exit 2 of Nipponbashi Station on the Osaka Metro, this restaurant has around 8 counter seats. I quenched my thirst with bottled beer. I had some karaage as a snack, which was served as 6 pieces of tebasaki karaage. It was seasoned with salt and pepper, with a crispy coating and juicy meat inside, making it a perfect match for beer or sake. So, I added some sweet potato shochu (Satsuma Shiranami). Feeling hungry, I decided to order more food. I had the stir-fried liver with leeks and rice. The dish consisted of liver, leeks, and bean sprouts stir-fried together with a rich flavor that went well with the rice. It was a great experience to enjoy traditional Chinese-style food and drink. I look forward to trying their ramen and gyoza next time. Thank you for the meal.

In September of the 5th year of Reiwa, the business hours are from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM. The ramen costs 700 yen. It is a typical ramen from a Chinese restaurant, which is just right for a meal after drinking. The restaurant has a traditional counter-only seating and smoking is allowed, which is convenient for smokers.

At the Nankai Nihonbashi, there is a small town Chinese restaurant called "Hiroya" that I didn't notice despite passing by often before my first visit. The restaurant only has a counter. The dishes I tried were: bottled beer, dumplings, fried chicken, shochu with water, fried rice, and soup. The dumplings had just the right amount of garlic, the spicy fried chicken wings were addictive, and the fried rice was flavorful with a crispy finish. I look forward to trying other dishes on my next visit!

Sakamachi's Chinese restaurant Hiroya is quite a longstanding establishment. I had the Chinese set meal for 1150 yen (tax included). It included sweet and sour pork, stir-fried pork and bean sprouts, and Chinese-style omelette. It's a classic Chinese meal. Of course, it also came with soy sauce-based soup. The only downside was the quality of the white rice.

I've been here before. I remember drinking in Minami, getting drunk, and using this place, but I don't even remember what I ate. I just remember that it's always open late and always crowded with customers. It was unusual to see only one customer inside on this day, so I went in smoothly. The interior of the restaurant has a yellow L-shaped counter with 8 seats. It's packed with just enough space for 8 seats. There is a TV installed. Eating at a Chinese restaurant in the evening with this capacity is calming for an old man like me. The owner is running the place alone. I ordered a bottle of beer. Kirin Lager medium bottle for 600 yen. I also ordered gyoza for 400 yen and vegetable stir-fry for 750 yen as side dishes. You can see the owner preparing the food and the kitchen is fully visible. They were boiling a base in a large pot. The gyoza doesn't look great, but the filling is meaty and simple. The vegetable stir-fry doesn't look impressive either because it's brown, but it tasted good. I finished with my current favorite dish, champon. It's completely different from Nagasaki champon. The soup and noodles have a Chinese restaurant vibe. It was delicious in its own way. Thank you for the meal.

Today's second stop was at a Chinese restaurant called Hiroya near Nihonbashi Station, recommended by a gourmet friend. We ordered the classic dishes of gyoza, sweet and sour pork, and fried rice. Everything was delicious!! The master was also unexpectedly warm and friendly, which was very touching. ^_^

I finally visited the Chinese restaurant "Kitanashuran" that I had been wanting to go to for a while. It always seems crowded with older men, which made me feel a bit hesitant to enter as an older guy myself. However, this time I arrived before the rush hour. For my order, I chose the Tianjin rice bowl and some dumplings. The Tianjin rice bowl had less spiciness than I expected, with a soy sauce-based flavor. I also detected a hint of dashi flavor, which I enjoyed. It was so delicious that I wanted to order more. The dumplings were already seasoned with soy sauce when grilled, so they tasted great even without dipping sauce. Alternatively, they were also tasty with just a bit of chili oil. The dumplings with a good amount of garlic flavor were also delightful. Now I understand why the older men like to gather at this restaurant.

I visited the Chinese restaurant "Hiroya" in Nihonbashi. The atmosphere inside is quite crowded and has a cool vibe. It seems like a popular spot for a late-night meal or drinks. I ordered the mapo don and grilled dumplings this time. The mapo don had a nostalgic taste, not too spicy or numbing. The grilled dumplings were crispy and delicious. There was a hint of garlic in them. It reminded me of the flavors I had when I was a kid in my hometown. I can see why this restaurant is essential in this area. I would love to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

It's a small, unassuming Chinese restaurant, but it might be tastier than the upscale ones around. Most importantly, the bottled beer is ice cold, which is great. The pork tempura is incredibly delicious! I'm starting to crave it again!

On my day off, I wandered around the Minami district (''◇'')ゞ The main event of the day was to greet the Okame lady for the New Year! But since I had some time to kill, I decided to head out to Minami during the day, eat some curry, and stroll around Namba Walk. There was still 40 minutes until Okame opened, so I stumbled upon a slightly run-down looking restaurant!! Haha, I thought why not grab some dumplings here before heading over! So, I walked in (*^^)v The interior of the restaurant was... the counter was extremely narrow (;゚Д゚)!? And it was quite messy and greasy, but for me, it didn't detract from the experience and rather added to the nostalgic old Chinese restaurant vibe! Or maybe I'm exaggerating!? Haha I ordered a large bottle of lager and one serving of dumplings. And also, the mapo tofu that the guy next to me was eating looked pretty delicious, so I ordered that too. First up, the dumplings. The garlic flavor was moderate, and the taste was decent. The skin was a bit chewy (;^ω^) but it was fine as a beer snack. Next, the mapo tofu♪ It was quite hearty with lots of ingredients, but the taste was... well, not bad! But it felt like something you could get from a store. I'm not really a fan of spicy food, but I wished it had a bit more kick. However, it was a good place to pass the time and fill my stomach, so it was all good♪ Now, time to go meet Okame (*´▽`*) Thank you for the meal m(_牛_)m

Hiroya, a Chinese restaurant near Nihonbashi WINS, has been in business for 40 years. It is a popular spot among horse racing fans and locals. The atmosphere is cool and the clientele is friendly and welcoming. The owner's son even offers a service to buy horse racing tickets. The food is not the main highlight, but the cozy vibe of the restaurant is what makes it special. During my visit in January 2018, I stumbled upon this place with a friend after being turned away from another restaurant. The interior was stylish but small, and it quickly filled up with people watching horse racing on TV. Everyone had horse racing newspapers and the staff even offered to buy tickets for customers. We had some drinks and ordered dishes such as mapo tofu, dumplings, soup, and roasted pork. The mapo tofu was flavorful, the dumplings were light, and the soup was simple and comforting. We also tried the recommended roasted pork, which was fatty and had a unique taste. Despite the food not being exceptional, the warm and cozy atmosphere of the restaurant made the experience enjoyable. We received some horse racing tips from regular customers and even considered buying tickets ourselves. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience at Hiroya.

After leaving Shibacho from the previous visit, we went to the second place which was here!! The shop we were looking for was in Hozoji, but it was closed, so we wandered around the area...and entered the Club Keiba area where everyone gathers!! There were many charming shops here♡ Among them, we chose this one!!! Following my foodie instincts, we visited♪ Inside the shop, there were already some Club Keiba customers, spreading out horse racing newspapers and getting into the mood...! It seemed like there was a big race happening that day? Everyone was predicting it! We just enjoyed ourselves, raising a toast to being foodies without worrying about the race, and decided to try some interesting dishes~( ´艸`) ● Mapo Tofu The spiciness was not there at all, it was a mild and sweet type that even kids could eat. So, we got some chili oil! The chili oil had a strong sesame oil flavor, but it wasn't spicy. We used the shichimi pepper on the table to adjust the taste! Before we knew it, the chili oil was taken away! (・∀・) But we enjoyed changing the flavor with the shichimi pepper! ● Gyoza The customers sitting next to us, who were playing and predicting, recommended this dish! So we ordered it♪ It was a simple gyoza with a homemade feel, easy to eat in one bite. ( ´艸`) ● Soup This shop has the kitchen surrounded by counter seats, so you can see the chefs cooking! And then, I saw a delicious-looking soup――(゚∀゚)――!!!!!! I wanted to try it♡ So I asked for "that soup!" even though it wasn't on the menu, they made it for me! The other customers had a set soup that was smaller, but since we ordered it separately, it came with quite a volume! It was a Chinese-style soup with plenty of eggs and seaweed! It was easy to drink with lots of vegetables, perfect as a side dish for shochu, and I couldn't stop drinking it~( ´艸`) I enjoyed it until the end! ● Char Siu Half When I looked at it, I thought, "Isn't there too much blood...? Isn't this too much for a half portion...? Doesn't the fat zone stand out too much...?" In times like this, I always perform the inspection ritual (。・ω・。) Jirojiro...I only took a bite of the non-fat zone, but it wasn't to my liking! If you're curious about the taste, you should go and try it yourself! (`・ω・´)> This shop has a wonderful system where you can entrust the son of the owner with your betting slip, and he will buy the horse racing tickets for you, making it a great place for Club Keiba customers to gather! Sorry for occupying the place before the race as foodies, but it was a very nice and cozy place for foodies as well♪ Thank you for the meal!!!!!(・∀・)!!!!

This is a quite well-established Chinese restaurant that you might just pass by normally. When you enter, you will find a narrow counter-only shop where regular customers are eating and drinking, creating a lively atmosphere. The standard Chinese menu is lined up with dishes ranging from around 600 yen to 800 yen. Reasonably priced. I heard that the fried chicken here is delicious, so I decided to give it a try. They fry large chicken wings on the spot, seasoning them perfectly, making them juicy and hot. They remove one side of the bone, making it easy to eat. It goes really well with alcohol, creating a lively atmosphere. The seasoning on these chicken wings is magical. I have tried many restaurants before coming here, but I couldn't resist trying their fried noodles. I was curious about what fried noodles were. It turns out that it's a thick noodle version of plate udon. I love plate udon, so if it's thin noodles, I order "plate udon" here. If it's thick noodles, I go for "fried noodles." It's a perfect snack to go with alcohol, so I ended up using this place like a regular customer. This kind of unassuming yet delicious restaurant is a hidden gem. It may feel deep and out of the way, but don't worry about it. They have a TV and even a restroom in the back.

I unexpectedly ended up eating a lot at the first restaurant, so I couldn't visit the izakaya or the standing bar I wanted to try. I wandered around Minami, desperately looking for Tianjin rice with green peas. It seems like someone whispered in my heart. While walking around in a tipsy state, I found a small restaurant where I decided to try Tianjin rice. The restaurant only had a counter, and it seemed like there used to be a second floor. The staircase leading to the second floor was there, but it didn't seem to be in use. The owner was cooking takeout dishes even though there were no customers. I sat at the counter and ordered the Tianjin rice. While waiting, two women came to pick up the dishes they had ordered for takeout. They were not regular customers but friends who had asked them to pick up the food. They found it unusual that I was taking photos and even posed for me when I asked for a photo. The atmosphere and friendliness in the area were truly unique to Osaka. Unfortunately, there were no green peas in the Tianjin rice, but I didn't mind. The fluffy egg with soy sauce and oyster-based sauce was delicious. The fluffy egg was accompanied by shrimp and green onions. Although it may be a bit pricey, considering the location in the heart of Minami, it was worth it. It turned out to be a great choice for my first day in Osaka. The owner mentioned that the restaurant has been around for over 30 years and is acquainted with the couple who run Rakurotei Nihonbashi, the restaurant I visited earlier. They used to go golfing together in the past. It seems like I hit the jackpot with the barbecue and Chinese restaurants in Osaka Minami. It was a satisfying first day in Osaka. Thank you!

There was a small Chinese restaurant with only a counter that was always busy, so I finally decided to try it on my third visit. It seemed like the regular customers were mainly there for drinks, giving it a bit of an outsider feeling. I wanted to order the Chinese set, but it wasn't on the menu. Maybe it's only available for lunch? I ended up ordering the Tianjin rice bowl and ramen. The Tianjin rice bowl was close to my taste preference and quite delicious, with a lot of umami seasoning used. The food was served promptly, within about 5 minutes. The ramen was like the old-fashioned Chinese noodles, which brought back nostalgic memories, with a hint of pepper in it. Overall, I think the place offers good value for the money.

On this day, I had the opportunity to go on a food tour with a famous ramen shop owner, and we visited a Chinese restaurant in Nihonbashi that is known for its delicious food. The name of the restaurant is "Hiroya," located in Chuo-ku, Sennichimae 1-chome. It's about a 2-3 minute walk from Nankai Nipponbashi Station. The street seemed a bit shady, but there were various dining establishments around. The restaurant had a quite historical feel to it, with a counter seating for about 10 people. It was run by a male owner. The menu was displayed on the wall, with prices ranging from the 500 yen range to a set meal at 1000 yen, typical of a casual Chinese restaurant. After a day of eating around, we ordered the following dishes while enjoying bottled beer: - "Fried Chicken Wings": These were seasoned and fried chicken wings, with the seasoning being exquisite and the batter incredibly tasty. The wings were deboned on one side, making them easy to eat. They paired perfectly with the beer and are a must-try at this place. - "Gyoza (Dumplings) for 2 people": These were well-cooked gyoza with a nice sear on the outside. They seemed homemade and were generously filled with the meat mixture, making them easy to pick up with chopsticks. - "Shrimp Omelette": This dish consisted of two shrimp omelettes, which were different from what was expected but delicious nonetheless. They came with a sauce for dipping, but even without it, the sweetness of the eggs was enjoyable. - "Pork Tempura": A substantial portion of pork tempura was served, along with fried vegetables like onions. The crispy batter and tender pork, fried individually in lard, made it quite delicious. - "Miso Ramen": A miso ramen with plenty of onions and minced meat was served. Despite being quite full by this point, the nostalgic flavor of the dish was irresistible. - "Curry Ramen": Lastly, we ordered the curry ramen, which was served piping hot. Although not a heavily spiced curry, it had a rich flavor that went well with the noodles. It was a bit on the salty side, making it ideal to pair with rice. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, and I would recommend stopping by this restaurant when feeling hungry as it is conveniently located near the station. Full and satisfied, thank you for the meal. TEL: 06-6211-6098 Address: 1-2-11 Sennichimae, Chuo-ku, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture ↑ Feel free to check it out! ↓ Japan Blog Village
