Osaka Umeda Station has a new popular izakaya called "Hassen" in the Higashi-dori area. The atmosphere is exactly what I love, embodying a nostalgic old-fashioned izakaya. The BGM playing nostalgic songs adds to the relaxing vibe. And this place is incredibly cheap! Beer is always 150 yen, even for a Super Dry! Highballs are also 150 yen, and during happy hour until 6 pm, they are only 90 yen! It's been a while since I found a place this affordable. The food is also very cheap and delicious. The famous tebasaki (chicken wings) are only 90 yen each, but they are quite large. The plain salt flavor is addictive and goes perfectly with beer. There are also special spice options for 20 yen extra. The new specialty dobu-zuke chicken skin skewers are crispy and chewy with a generous sweet and savory sauce, also priced at 90 yen each. I couldn't stop eating and ended up trying various dishes. It was a delightful experience in a nostalgic atmosphere.

A 24-hour izakaya with a wide selection of items but often out of stock. The atmosphere is relaxed, but you can't order every 30 minutes and they rush you to pay. It's unclear if it's just how this place operates or if it's a Osaka thing. It's nice that they're open all the time and they have a decent amount of customers from morning. The food is average.

A shop where you can have a quick drink and head home. It seems to be open 24 hours! They even have alcohol for 90 yen, which is great. You have to order by scanning a QR code with your phone! What if your phone is out of battery?! I wish they wouldn't make everything so reliant on phones! I had some edamame, yakitori, and grilled chicken wings as appetizers.

HASSIN operates about 100 restaurants mainly in Osaka and manages various brands. This store features a Showa-style izakaya interior and cheap menu. The three major specialty dishes are chicken wings, pickled chicken skin skewers, and fried chicken. The chicken wings and chicken skin skewers are priced at 99 yen each, which is very reasonable. Also, drinks like draft beer are priced at 150 yen, making it friendly for those who enjoy drinking. We were served a nori tempura garlic for 330 yen as an appetizer. It had a crispy and crunchy texture with a junk food-like taste. The pickled chicken skin skewers for 99 yen per skewer were deep-fried until crispy with a sweet soy sauce glaze. The soy sauce was spicy, but the flavor of the chicken was not very prominent. The chicken wings for 99 yen each were served juicy and freshly fried. However, the seasoning was light and the chicken flavor was weak. It's hard to say they were delicious, but considering we had two drinks, an appetizer, and two dishes for less than a thousand yen, the cost performance was excellent. In the end, these izakayas are the easiest to chat in and everyone loves them. During the bonus time from 11:00 to 18:00, highball and lemon sour drinks are only 99 yen no matter how many you order. Their specialty chicken wings are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and they come in four flavors: salt, addictive spice, Mao Zedong, and curry. The pickled chicken skin skewers are also irresistible. We ordered about 3 servings of red wieners and stacked them up for a fun presentation. They have over 80 small dishes to choose from, making it a great spot for 2nd or 3rd rounds. It's a lively and enjoyable place, so be sure to check it out!

A super cheap izakaya located in a great spot in Umeda. Orders are placed through a QR code in a large box. The tororo yaki seemed to have a texture similar to takoyaki without octopus. The maguro yukke and skewers were delicious, although the portions were a bit small. In the end, some say that drunk potato is the best dish!

The seating is limited to 2 hours. Until 6:00 PM, you can enjoy drinks (with several options) at a much cheaper price. They offer a wide variety of unique and recommended menu items.

The dishes were oily and I felt full quickly. It seems like they don't use good quality oil, and I felt like I might get indigestion. However, the light appetizers were excellent, and I would like to visit this place again!

Cost performance is good. High smoking rate. Menu is accessed through QR code. It's hard to get the attention of the staff when you want to order a highball because there are too many customers. The tongue was delicious!

I made a reservation but the customer service was terrible, very unfriendly, the chicken wings were delicious but what a waste.

I wouldn't go as far as saying all seats should be non-smoking, but I would definitely consider going if they at least had designated smoking areas. Unfortunately, in the current situation, it is almost impossible to leave without being exposed to secondhand smoke, so I am thinking of looking for another restaurant.
