I searched online for a restaurant to have a seafood bowl for lunch. I prefer fish over meat, and if I have the money, I would eat sushi, but when I don't, a seafood bowl is enough for me. I went to an izakaya that I found online to have a seafood bowl. The location was in Rokumoncho, Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture. I set the car navigation for a distance of 22 kilometers one way. When I arrived nearby, I parked at a convenience store and searched for the restaurant's location on my smartphone. Oh no, I couldn't see the restaurant sign. I asked someone nearby and found out that it had closed. Since I parked at the convenience store, I didn't want to waste the parking fee, so I had to find another restaurant nearby. I found one that seemed to be a teppanyaki restaurant. It seemed to have opened last week, and I visited on a weekday at 11:30 am. Two women greeted me with smiles and seated me at the counter. They offered me a cold towel and a menu where I could choose between pork or chicken and select the seasoning from spicy miso, ponzu, or wasabi. I ordered the chicken teppanyaki with spicy miso for 900 yen including tax and asked for a medium portion of rice. The male chef appeared from somewhere and started cooking. Once the cooking was done, he disappeared. The dish was served on a plate. It was similar to the chicken version of a famous Fukuoka B-class gourmet dish called "Bikkuri Tei," which usually uses pork belly. The dish was addictive, with only cabbage and garlic lightly stir-fried with salt and pepper. The spicy miso was provided on the side, and I dipped the tender seven pieces of chicken breast meat in it while eating. I prefer chicken thigh meat with more elasticity, but the stir-fried cabbage with autumn cabbage was cooked perfectly, with a nice softness. Even when eaten with the spicy miso, the sweetness of the cabbage could still be tasted in the mouth. The miso soup only had seaweed without green onions. The rice was delicious, with a great stickiness and sweetness. I should have ordered a large portion instead of medium. The chicken teppanyaki with spicy miso that I tried for the first time was different from the pork belly version, with a lighter taste. It might be more appealing to women than men. I later found out that the pork was some kind of tongue meat, and if they had used chicken thigh meat, I think the evaluation would have been higher. Overall, the lunch was reasonably priced, and I left the restaurant satisfied.
