Pochi Pochi
Matsuya has re-released Shukumeru at the same time as Matsunoya has started selling Shukumeru Cheese BIG Menchi Hamburger. I don't really understand what Menchi Hamburger is. In Kansai, it is called Minchi Katsu. In Kansai, ground meat is called Minchi. It's a cutlet made with ground meat, so it's called Minchi Katsu. Apparently, in Tokyo, they call it Menchi. In Kansai, you should not use the word Menchi carelessly. If you use it carelessly, you might get approached by a scary guy saying, "Hey, what are you talking about Menchi?" That being said, what exactly is Menchi Hamburger? I don't even understand what "Menchi" is, so when I convert it to Minchi in the Kansai style, it becomes Minchi Hamburger. Since Hamburger is made with ground meat, it's obvious, or rather, it's a metaphor that's too much to handle. It gives me a headache. Surely, Hamburger is not cutting Minchi, right? Shukumeru is a local dish from Georgia, a garlic-flavored stew. What would happen if you put this on Minchi Katsu? Let's try the Shukumeru Cheese BIG Menchi Hamburger set for 790 yen. It's a self-service restaurant, so you have to go and get it yourself. But there are benefits that outweigh that. Wow, the Minchi Katsu is huge. It comes with salad and miso soup. The salad includes potato salad. The rice is free for a large serving, but I deliberately didn't get the large serving of rice. The regular size of rice is actually in a small rice bowl. It's smaller than the miso soup bowl. Oh, the garlic smell is strong. It's stinky. Now, let's try the Shukumeru Jumbo Minchi Katsu. Hmm, it's different. It doesn't go well with rice. This Shukumeru, it's unfamiliar taste. It doesn't match with rice. I tried adding table sauce, special sauce, and soy sauce to change the taste, but it just doesn't work. It goes in an unexpected direction. Yet, I asked for a rice refill. The Chidori Bridge store is a self-service restaurant, so you have to serve yourself rice. Since I had the opportunity, I indulged in nostalgic stories. Miso soup and rice go really well together. Let me share another nostalgic story. I wish I could have had the Jumbo Minchi Katsu as it is, or with demi-glace sauce. This was me, wanting that.
