I used to go there before, but now it seems they are only open on weekends. The charcoal grilled local chicken was delicious, with a crispy texture that is addictive. The light sauce was tasty, but I recommend trying it with salt. The mixed rice dish was also excellent.

Strolling through Akizuki and heading to Koishiwara on Route 500... I saw a sign for grilled chicken on charcoal at a place called Takakura on Route 211 towards the old Hoshuzan direction. It is located across from a riverside play area called Poon-ta's Forest. You can enjoy fresh local chicken at this restaurant as advertised. The chicken is incredibly delicious, with options like meat, liver, and sasami sashimi. The chicken rice is especially delicious. The restaurant is run by a couple in their 70s, and sometimes their grandchildren work there part-time. There are charcoal grills both inside and outside the restaurant, but I recommend sitting outside. You can enjoy the trees planted by the owner according to the season, and during firefly season, you can see many fireflies flying around in Poon-ta's Forest across the street. Although the restaurant is not open at night, if you make a reservation in advance, you can have a meal until around 8 or 9 p.m. Enjoying delicious chicken while watching fireflies is the best experience.
