I was looking for a souvenir for a business associate at Umeda Hankyu. I wanted to give something other than Kyoto sweets since the recipient was from Kyoto, but most of the shops there were from Kyoto. I was in a bind until I found out that this shop was from Aichi. I had received rice crackers from a friend in Nagoya before, so I decided to buy some here. I also bought a baked chocolate that I had never tried before for myself. The shrimp flavor was perfect and matched well with the sweetness of the chocolate powder. The elegant sweetness was delightful. Thank you for the delicious meal! ♡

I was looking for some Christmas-themed snacks and came across this one. Established in 1866, Kaishindo is a long-established confectionery shop famous for its shrimp senbei. I purchased a bag of their Christmas limited edition shrimp senbei for 237 yen at their store in Hankyu Umeda underground. When I opened the bag at home, I found cute reindeer and Santa designs on the senbei. I arranged them on a plate, took a photo, and then tried them. The reindeer had a rich shrimp flavor, while Santa had a salty taste, also with shrimp flavor. The pink one was strawberry-flavored, the green one was matcha-flavored, and the white and yellow ones were sugar-coated. Despite being small snacks in a bag, I feel like they are packed with dreams and deliciousness.

I received a delicious box of shrimp senbei with four different types to compare: shiba shrimp, botan shrimp, akashrimp, and ama shrimp. The shiba shrimp is grilled to bring out its unique flavor, while the botan shrimp is carefully grilled to preserve its rich sweetness. The akashrimp is a mix of selected shrimp from around the world, creating a deep flavor and crispy texture. Lastly, the ama shrimp is grilled using the entire head to bring out its unique flavor and deliciousness. I didn't realize there could be such a difference in taste. Delicious.

※This review is currently on hold for publication, but as of July 2020, the store is open. In July 2020, I stopped by Hankyu Umeda Main Store on my way home from work. This time, I decided to buy senbei from "Kaishindo" after a long time. I aimed for the grilled ones, and although there were sweet shrimp and red shrimp available, I chose the red shrimp this time. (6 bags for 519 yen) The red shrimp are said to be carefully selected from the seas around the world. (I think the sweet shrimp was from Hokkaido?) I tried them at home right away - they are packed with the deliciousness of shrimp and have a fragrant taste. Shrimp senbei is definitely a must-have. It was a perfect snack to go with beer! Thank you for the meal.

Ebi senbei is said to have originated from fishermen grilling minced shrimp into hanpen, a type of shrimp cake. Ebi senbei is made by finely grinding shrimp meat, grilling it on an iron plate, and then carefully finishing it off with a searing process. There are different varieties such as red shrimp, sweet shrimp, shiba shrimp, and botan shrimp. Each type offers a rich and intense shrimp flavor. The taste varies depending on the type of shrimp used. This goes beyond just being a simple rice cracker.

I tried a sample and it was delicious, so I bought it as a souvenir. The staff was very kind and thoughtful! During the rainy season, they even provided a cover so it wouldn't get wet if it rained on the day I was giving it as a gift. They also packed it neatly in a beautiful bag before handing it to me. It was a very pleasant shopping experience with such helpful service. The taste is also delicious, so I will definitely use it in the future!

I received some incredibly impactful shrimp senbei! They are shaped like shrimp and have a really strong impact, so I couldn't resist buying them. A set of 5 costs over 3,000 yen, making each one over 600 yen, which is quite expensive for senbei. With that money, you could buy about 20 bags of regular kappa ebisen. They are popular as gifts and the shrimp shape really stands out. I tried them right away, and they are dried shrimp. The technique is impressive, but in terms of taste, I prefer the senbei from the shop. If you are in Nagoya, YUKARI senbei is the way to go. These dried shrimp are tasty, but if you ask me if it's a snack, it's a bit questionable. They are interesting, so give them a try!

Katsushindo is known for their unique shrimp senbei, where whole shrimps are used as toppings. The designs on the senbei change with the seasons, and they are available in small packets, making them a great choice for a small gift or souvenir. Even though they are not in a box, they come with a plastic tray for added protection.

I received this as a souvenir. It seems to be a shop that is quite common in famous department stores. It is called "Kaigara Gokasho" and all the senbei (rice crackers) have a nice shrimp aroma. They are crispy with just the right amount of firmness and thinness, which is exquisite. The seasoning is gentle and not too salty, making it delicious to enjoy with tea. I could easily eat as many as I want. Among senbei, I think this is of a high level of quality.

I found this at the Hankyu Department Store Umeda Main Store basement. I was looking for a seasonal snack within my budget of 1620 yen for a gathering with my colleagues. I wandered around the department store basement and found this perfect package - featuring goldfish, yo-yos, takoyaki, and grilled corn rice crackers. The packaging is named "Summer Festival" and it's not just appealing to the eyes. The grilled corn rice crackers are fragrant, the takoyaki senbei has a subtle sauce and pickled ginger flavor, and the shrimp senbei shaped like goldfish is adorable. It reminds me of the nostalgic summer festival snacks from my childhood. Summer is coming to an end soon, so why not experience a summer festival with these rice crackers?

Osaka Series...continued...After buying tiramisu at C3, I finished with Western sweets and moved on to search for Japanese sweets. I originally wanted to buy cubes from "Fukusaya" but they were sold out. As a backup plan, I bought something from the shop across the aisle from Fukusaya, which seemed to specialize in shrimp senbei. As usual, I asked the lady for recommendations and she suggested their grilled shrimp senbei, specifically the sweet shrimp and red shrimp varieties. I bought both types. The total cost was 648 yen and 518 yen. With that, my shopping at Hankyu was done, and I headed home. As usual, I took photos and tried the snacks. Each pack contained 6 individually wrapped pieces. When I tasted them, both had a crispy texture and a savory aroma. The red shrimp had a stronger shrimp flavor, while the sweet shrimp had a more refined taste. Both were authentic shrimp senbei, not just imitation. They were delicious. Thank you for the meal. 2015.04 on Tabelog with a rating of 3.10 points.

Osaka Travel ♪ Limited to Umeda Hankyu Department Store? Nice, right?♪♪ I'm always interested in the Sumo wrestler paintings and heart designs added to existing products. I love the whole crispy shrimp senbei♪♪ This time, I went to buy souvenirs for a welcome party at my friend's shop because my friend's friend was coming from abroad. I found the perfect souvenir for me♪♪ The variety of flavors in the items I always receive gives a luxurious impression, but the prices are reasonable♪♪ There were heart-shaped senbei for Valentine's Day, but that's not really my style... the Sumo wrestler ones are nice♪ But, in the end, I went with the Osaka theme!! (^~^) They were very pleased with it!! My friend, who purchased it with the store's expenses, complimented me for the first time!! Thank you very much♪♪

I received a gift of "Ebi Zukushi" from the long-established shrimp confectionery shop "Keishindo" in Nagoya as a baby gift. In our house, "Yukari" from Sakakado Sohonpo is a staple when it comes to shrimp senbei, and we had never tried Keishindo's products before. The most impressive item was the "Grilled Shrimp Car", which is made by packing fresh domestic shrimp that can be served as sashimi and grilling them in their original form (to be honest, I prefer to eat them as sashimi...). You can enjoy the appearance of the shrimp, as well as the elegant sweetness and rich shrimp flavor. Under the shrimp, there are mini senbei arranged in a spiral pattern called "Uzumaki". Unlike Sakakado's products, this one feels perfect as a snack with alcohol. Thank you for the delicious treat~

Mrs. Umeda's souvenir series is back after a long time (lol). The day after Valentine's Day, I suddenly received this from Mrs. Umeda. When I opened it, I found cute heart-shaped senbei with heart designs drawn on them. The taste is okay, but it's quite enjoyable because of the shape and designs. Personally, I think I prefer this kind of gift over chocolate. Thank you, Mrs. Umeda! (^_^)

I often use this as a souvenir for elderly people, but I have never actually eaten it myself. So, I decided to buy it this time to have it as a snack with alcohol. I purchased the "Summer Festival" assortment, which includes takoyaki and goldfish-shaped senbei crackers. It's a limited-time offer, so I couldn't resist buying it. The shrimp senbei crackers are said to be better as a snack with alcohol because they are salty. Indeed, the Summer Festival series may not be suitable for alcohol as it includes sweet items. The store also offers a point card where points accumulate based on the number of purchases, not the amount spent. Looks like I'll have to visit the store more often...

We gather at grandpa's house. Everyone brings a souvenir, but since there are many red bean paste treats, I chose shrimp senbei to avoid duplication. It has a long shelf life, so it's okay even if there are duplicates. I like this store because they have senbei with seasonal illustrations. This time, I bought "Summer Shrimp Story" for 1575 yen (tax included), which contains 15 bags. The seasonal illustrations are senbei in the shape of fireworks and sweetfish, as well as classic senbei. Boxed options start from 1050 yen, making it convenient for small souvenirs.

I used it for the memorial service. I bought it thinking it was similar to Yukari. I also asked for some shrimp senbei for myself. I haven't compared them, so I might be wrong, but I still couldn't tell the difference. The shrimp senbei is good. After all, the appearance is rare and makes you happy because it looks like "shrimp!" The shop is in a pretty good location near Hankyu, so the reputation must be quite good.

You can enjoy various types of shrimp senbei at this place. They offer seared and whole grilled shrimp senbei, with different types of shrimp for each. The shrimp varieties include red shrimp, sweet shrimp, shiba shrimp, botan shrimp, and car shrimp. The seared red shrimp senbei had a rich and savory shrimp flavor, with a slightly firm texture that provided a satisfying crunch. It seemed to be made with luxurious shrimp paste and seared to perfection. I also tried the seared sweet shrimp senbei, which had a slightly sweeter flavor compared to the red shrimp, showcasing the differences in shrimp varieties. I really enjoyed the rich and decadent taste of the shrimp. The whole grilled shrimp senbei had the shrimp grilled flat in its natural form. It had the appearance of a shrimp with its shell intact and a natural shrimp color. The whole grilled shrimp senbei allowed you to savor the simplicity of the shrimp itself, with a deliciously savory taste due to the shell being left on. I also tried the whole grilled car shrimp and sweet shrimp for comparison. The whole grilled shrimp had a gentler flavor compared to the seared ones. Additionally, they had shrimp senbei that resembled the ones you might find at a candy store or festival, with a light and round white senbei featuring drawings on top. These had a subtle shrimp flavor and a gentle taste. The drawings on the senbei changed seasonally, with the product name changing accordingly. For example, when it had a snowflake and flower pattern, it was called "snow flower," and when it had a morning glory pattern, it was called "morning glory." The seared shrimp senbei offered a unique and intense shrimp flavor that is not commonly found in other stores. I was glad to be able to try a variety of shrimp senbei with the assortment pack. I particularly enjoyed the seared red shrimp and sweet shrimp senbei, and I look forward to purchasing them again in the future.
