For souvenirs and personal use ♬ A variety of flavors! Tempting karinto including limited edition flavors ♡ - Osaka limited edition takoyaki karinto @486 yen x 3 - Pizza karinto @378 yen x 2 Total: 2214 yen Crispy and delicious karinto. Looking forward to the limited edition takoyaki flavor. Excitedly popping them in my mouth. Yummy! I asked for simple gift wrapping for souvenirs, but they said the packaging itself is already like a gift (?), so they couldn't wrap it. Disappointing. I wish they could provide a service like putting it in an OPP bag and sealing it.

My daughter really likes the products here and often buys them to take home. They have a variety of products, but my daughter usually eats them all, so I just take a bite. They have a good shelf life and make great gifts because they are colorful and convenient.

"I see, there are so many different kinds of karinto here." That was my reaction when I came across the wide variety of karinto at this shop. I don't usually eat karinto, and my only perception of it was as a stick-shaped Japanese confectionery flavored with black sugar. So, I was quite surprised to see the sheer variety of karinto displayed at this store, to the point where I had to stop and take it all in. Though I didn't count them exactly, I believe there were roughly around 50 different types of karinto in terms of shapes and flavors. I ended up purchasing a few that caught my interest. - Takoyaki-flavored karinto: Unlike other snacks with takoyaki flavor which tend to be more savory, this one had a subtle flavor and was sweeter than I expected. - Yuasa soy sauce black sugar karinto: A limited edition item from Osaka Takashimaya made with soy sauce from Yuasa, Wakayama. The combination of black sugar, soy sauce, and a hint of salt worked really well together. - Cheese mix karinto: A blend of three types of cheese, this one had a strong cheese aroma and seemed like a great snack to pair with alcohol. - Kinpira burdock karinto: True to its name, this karinto had a flavor reminiscent of kinpira burdock, with a spicier taste than I anticipated. It left a lasting impression on me as I didn't expect a non-sweet karinto. Apart from the ones I tried, there are still many other unique karinto that caught my interest, so I would definitely like to visit this shop again. Even if you don't usually eat karinto, I recommend giving it a try.

I finished work and stopped by Osaka Takashimaya in the evening. I found a karinto shop there and bought two kinds of karinto - honey black karinto and brown sugar kinako karinto. Both were reasonably priced and easy to buy. I ate them as soon as I got home. The black karinto was different from the ones you can buy in stores! It was fried but didn't have a greasy smell, and was crispy like karinto should be. The kinako one had a light kinako flavor, which was interesting. Both seemed to have been reimagined in a modern way. Thank you for the meal.

I went to "Azabu Karinto" at Takashimaya Depachika on my way back from drinking in Minami, thinking of buying souvenirs for the kids. I bought the seasonal limited edition Milk Chocolate Karinto, Vegetable Mix Karinto, and Kinpira Gobo Karinto! They were all delicious, but personally, I liked the Vegetable Mix the best! It went really well as a snack with alcohol. The Milk Chocolate was popular with the kids. And the Kinpira had a bit of spiciness to it. Although a bit pricey, they are high-quality snacks with a luxurious feel. Thank you for the meal!

I think it's a cool hobby, but this "Azabu Karinto" is really delicious. I especially love the "Vegetable Karinto." Once I start eating it, I can't stop and end up finishing a whole bag. It's a dangerous snack. You can find it at the Takashimaya in Namba, so whenever I go shopping at the department store, I always end up buying some. There are so many different flavors to choose from, so it's always exciting. The prices are reasonable, the taste is great, so it's a very handy item for gifts, especially for elderly people. The packaging is cute too. Thank you for the delicious treat.

Today I fell in love with a sweet potato snack store! I found a cute package of carrot-shaped candies. Location & Access: 3.8, it's located on the 1st floor of Namba Galleria in Namba Takashimaya, next to QUOLOFUNE & Co. Atmosphere & Cleanliness: 3.6, there were dozens of candies displayed. Package Design: 3.6. Ingredients: 3.8, ingredients include wheat flour, sugar, black sugar, corn syrup, vegetable oil, sweet potato powder, pumpkin powder, carrot powder, spinach powder, onion powder, salt, soy sauce, yeast, gardenia, red koji. Taste: 3.7, the vegetable mix candies were delicious with rich black honey flavor, sweet potato aroma, pumpkin sweetness, carrot juice-like sweetness, and strong onion flavor. They are different from the usual 100 yen vegetable mix candies, with a premium taste. Service & Smiles: 3.5. Cost & Value: 3.5. Overall, it was the most delicious vegetable mix candy I've ever had. It's perfect for a small gift. Thank you for the meal!

This is a corner of the candy section in the food department at Takashimaya. There are many types of karinto displayed in small bags on the racks, making it fun to choose. They don't seem to sell them individually, so it might be difficult if you want to buy a lot of one type. I wish they had assortments available. This time, I bought a karinto called "Umebachi Karinto." It had three colors on the edges and looked pretty. There is nothing particularly noteworthy about the taste. The inner bag is convenient with a zipper closure. The outer bag was very nice. However, I felt that there was too much packaging for the amount of content.

This shop apparently has 50 different types of karintou, so I wanted to try something a little different and bought the Framboise Chocolat for 550 yen. When I tried it at home, it had a refreshing cinnamon flavor and a unique deliciousness from the sweet and sour Framboise powder. I always thought karintou was very sweet and hard, but this one was different and really tasty. I still like regular karintou too though (laughs). Thank you for the meal!

Around 14:45 on May 3rd, I went to Takashimaya in Namba and found a box of Azabu Karinto that my friend from Tokyo gave me in March. I decided to buy one for myself as well. Despite it being Golden Week, the store wasn't too crowded when I made my purchase. I also bought a Kinpira Gobo Karinto, remembering how delicious the Kinpira Gobo Karinto I received in March was. I thought the Karinto must be high in calories, but I felt reassured by the "Kinpira Gobo" label. I ended up eating the whole bag in one go. I also tried the Vegetable Mix Karinto, which had a simple, not-too-sweet flavor that I couldn't resist. I ended up eating half the bag in one sitting and finished the rest the next day. It seems that anything labeled with vegetables or Kinpira Gobo is irresistible to me. However, the Raspberry Chocolate Karinto was a disappointment for me, probably because I'm not a fan of raspberries. When my friend visited, the Mayonnaise Karinto was more popular than the Raspberry Chocolate Karinto, so maybe I'm not alone in my preference. Overall, the Karinto is reasonably priced, comes in cute packaging, and makes a great little gift.

(February 2012 revisit) When I tried to buy my favorite karinto manju, they were sold out... So I looked around for something else and found "Yawaraka Karinto" - available in black honey, flower honey, matcha, and maple flavors. This time, I bought the maple flavor. When I tried it at home, it had a texture similar to sata andagi, with plenty of maple syrup soaked inside. It's quite different from regular karinto, but still delicious! A pack of 7 costs 450 yen. I also bought a Valentine's Day-themed assortment of chocolate karinto (600 yen) for someone special. The packaging was cute with pink floral designs. Overall, it was delicious as always. Thank you for the meal! (December 2011 visit) I bought my husband's favorite karinto manju (6 pieces for 600 yen) as a souvenir while my friends were having a year-end party. They only sell them in packs of 6 (600 yen) or 10 (1000 yen) at the store. The size of each karinto manju is about 6-7 cm. When you open the package, a gentle black honey scent wafts out. Despite being fried, it's not greasy or heavy, with a moist texture. It's more like a soft manju than a crispy karinto. Inside, there's sweet red bean paste that pairs well with the slightly bitter burnt taste of the black honey. Enjoying it with green tea is very comforting. The shelf life is around 5 days, and the packaging in a neat box makes it a great gift. I gave some to my husband's family, and they loved it! This is a lifesaver for when you need a sweet treat or a gift on hand. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

On November 9, 2011 (Wednesday) at Azabu Karinto in Takashimaya Osaka Store Theme: Takeout Sweets xxkattaxx's post When I went to Tokyo, I saw Azabu Karinto at a department store and was curious about it. I found out that there is also a store in Takashimaya in Namba, so I went there the other day. They have a whopping 50 varieties of karinto here, so I had a hard time choosing. I ended up buying five: Azabu Karinto, Peanut, Cappuccino, and Kinpira Gobo, among others. The packaging is from the Bunkyu era map of Azabu, very elaborate and lovely. The one I tried was the Peanut Karinto for 360 yen. It was quite large and had a firm texture with plenty of crushed peanuts, which was delicious. Next time, I want to try the most popular one, Azabu Karinto (brown sugar). Azabu Karinto Takashimaya Osaka Store 5-1-5 Namba, Chuo-ku, Osaka Takashimaya Osaka Store B1 06-6632-9829

"Azabu Karinto" is a shop located in Tokyo's Azabu-Juban district. Their first store outside of Tokyo is at Takashimaya Osaka. The shop offers 50 varieties of karinto and roasted black honey. The packaging of each karinto is unique, giving off a traditional Japanese feel. Today, the "Extra Thick Brown Sugar Karinto" is sold out. I purchased the following items: Soba Karinto for 360 yen, which has a crunchy texture with a hint of buckwheat flavor; Tomato Karinto for 450 yen, which has a unique airy texture with a tomato sweetness; and Karinto Manju for 630 yen (6 pieces), which is a deep-fried karinto bun filled with sweet red bean paste. The elegant aroma of black sugar is delightful. When warmed in the oven, the crispy texture and the sweet-salty taste of black sugar are irresistible. At checkout, I asked if the most popular item was the Karinto Manju, but the staff quietly mentioned that the Soba Karinto was actually the best seller. I felt like I got a good deal!"

I have a backlog of dessert articles, so even though it's Sunday and I usually take a break from blogging, I'll go ahead and post this. When I went to Namba for lunch the other day, I bought this! It's a shop that's quite famous in Tokyo but apparently their first store in Kansai - Azabu Karinto. I'm not really a fan of karinto (sweet deep-fried dough) but my youngest son loves it, and my friend M, who shared the information with me, is a big fan of sweets, so I decided to give it a try. First, I tried the most simple regular karinto. It was completely different from the karinto you find at the supermarket, not greasy at all and really delicious. It was so crispy, I could eat as much as I wanted. The price was ¥360. The other one was a unique karinto with raisins. This one didn't taste like karinto at all, with the sourness of the raisins adding a nice touch. It was light and had a cookie-like texture. This one was priced at ¥400. Azabu Karinto was a hit even with my karinto-loving son. If you like karinto, you should definitely give it a try!

I received another gift from a friend - a specialty store for karinto (Japanese fried dough snacks). The karinto with chili miso flavor contains miso and chili as ingredients. It looks like regular karinto at first glance. But when you eat it... oh, the chili kicks in later! It's really delicious! There are many interesting products like cinnamon karinto, raisin karinto, curry karinto, etc., so I will try buying various ones next time. By the way, my favorite that I always buy is Yamawaki Seika's raisin & karinto (laughs). It's sold in supermarkets. It's my favorite, so I always intend to eat it little by little, but end up finishing the whole bag in one go. So, I have to buy from Azabu Karinto-san too, right? (laughs)

While wandering around the basement of Takashimaya in Namba, I found a shop selling a variety of Karintou. It seems like there's a Karintou boom in Tokyo, with long lines at a shop in Tokyo Station. This shop here offers both sweet and spicy Karintou, as well as options for hard and soft textures. The prices are reasonable at around 300-400 yen per bag, making it a convenient choice for souvenirs. I would love to try out different flavors when I have the chance.

Today, I received some karinto (Japanese fried dough snack) from my father's workplace. Karinto from Azabu Karinto in Tokyo is not commonly seen in Kansai, but can be found in department stores like Takashimaya. They offer a variety of thin, crispy karinto in different flavors which I personally enjoy. The one I had today was a classic karinto. It is considered a high-quality karinto, crispy and not too sweet. Paired with some strong tea, it would make a luxurious snack.

Stylish and elegant karinto shop. They have a wide variety of karinto flavors and the packaging is cute! Since it's a Japanese-style sweet, it's perfect for souvenirs for foreigners. I was curious about the "soft karinto," which is softer, so I bought it. The inside is fluffy and I might like this one better! It's soft, so even kids or people with weak teeth can eat it. The bag also has a zipper seal, so it can be tightly sealed, which is a good impression! With this, you don't have to worry about moisture, and it's easy to carry around, so it's convenient.

This shop has a wide variety of candies! I want to try everything, but I'm afraid of gaining weight, so I always just buy my two favorite bags - the standard Azabu and the lemon flavors. The small bags are really helpful for me because when I open a bag, I tend to eat everything inside, so I would be in trouble without small bags! (laughs) I think even the small bags have a lot of calories, but I don't worry about it and will continue to buy them in the future. (laughs)

While browsing for souvenirs for my friend, I came across a variety of options with stylish packaging at a reasonable price. I ended up choosing black sugar, kinpira, soft maple, and chili flavors. We all tried them together and found the black sugar to be as expected, the soft maple to be a bit too sweet and moist like wet rice crackers. My favorite was the kinpira. They were so addictive and easy to snack on. The packaging for each flavor was stylish and presentable, making it a perfect gift for a casual occasion.
