Eating and drinking together took over 30 years to happen. Y-san, who invited me here, is a former colleague who now owns two buildings in front of Hakata Station. He is one of the most successful men I met in my youth. He appeared before me with kind, shining eyes. It would be rude to suggest splitting the bill with him, so I graciously said, "I'll treat you today," and we toasted! I learned many things that day, including that Iki is the birthplace of barley shochu. Y-san, who loves Iki's representative barley shochu, chose "Iki Super Gold." The rich aroma of this barley shochu is rare. Y-san, a customer of 20 years, was friendly with the owner and hostess. When I asked to take many photos for posting on Tabelog, they gave permission because I was with Y-san. Thank you. It was the start of a meal between two elderly men. I lived my life as a salaryman, while Y-san started a business in his twenties and has been running it for 40 years. Our paths may have been different, but our brief encounter brought back various memories and happy moments from our youth. I'll skip the explanations of the dishes and plates this time. But I must mention how delighted I was to have whale bacon with sashimi. The special simmered pork was plump, the thick swordfish was delicious, the deep-fried okoze, and the large nodoguro (red rockfish) were all great. Despite just being two men, the conversation flowed, and the meal passed quickly. It's always a joy to see acquaintances succeed. Let's meet again! Next time, should we split the bill??? (^^♪

The ingredients are great, but the finished product is amazing.

When you go a little further from the end of the Canal City Hakata side of Kawabata Shopping Street towards Tenjin, you will find a small cozy restaurant on the left side. The first floor has a counter, and the second floor has small tatami rooms. I have only been there for banquets, but if you want to eat delicious seasonal fish, this place is highly recommended. The sashimi is really delicious. I had natural tiger pufferfish last time, and this time I had horse mackerel. They also serve whale sashimi. You can tell that the ingredients are fresh and of good quality. They have a great selection of sake that goes well with fish. As a service, they even served Dassai sake for all-you-can-drink, so I was very satisfied.
