There are times when I want to decide on a dessert main even for office lunches. And it was hot that day. I chose Uji Kinjito with confidence. The shiratama here is also delicious. If I had to say, I wish they would increase their love for condensed milk lovers... hmmm. By the way, for lunch I had Yuba Don. The topping of ginger on the donburi, with the yuba mixed in the dashi sauce and white rice, was delicious. The entwining of flavors like in Fukken fried rice is irresistibly simple and happily tasty. I enjoyed the simplicity of wabi-sabi in Japan with my Kakigori afterwards ^_^ It goes without saying that being able to work hard in the afternoon was a known fact.

Three Bancho discovered a Japanese confectionery shop. I purchased Ametsuki and Kuden. Ametsuki is a sweet treat with a soft castella dough folded into a half-moon shape and filled with a light sweet red bean paste. Kuden is a standard Japanese confectionery made with mochi dough wrapped around red bean paste and dusted with kinako (roasted soybean flour). They were delicious.

On January 2nd, Reiwa 5 (Monday), I requested to send Fukujudo Shushin's red bean paste-filled rice cake to a friend as a gift! Initially, I planned to send the impressive bracken rice cake that I had recently experienced, so I went to a shop in front of Osaka Tenmangu Shrine. However, due to the huge crowd for New Year's shrine visit, I couldn't even make a purchase, let alone arrange for delivery. I managed to find the shop manager in the crowd and asked about sending the gift, but I was informed that it would be difficult for a while due to the crowded conditions at Tenmangu Shrine! I wandered around a few other shops in the area, but they were all crowded on New Year's Day. While they were friendly for takeout, when I mentioned sending the gift, most of the staff gave me a bitter look! Among them, only this shop warmly accommodated me, and since I love red bean paste-filled rice cake, I decided to go for it! However, following my philosophy that I must confirm the taste of the product before sending it, I purchased two separately for tasting. It may be too late since I will confirm the taste after sending them, but oh well! (laughs) The next day, I received them in an octagonal box. The skin of the rice cake (or should I say the outer layer of the rice cake?) was a bit thin, but the center with the red bean paste-like filling had a piece of bracken rice cake inside, which was reasonably delicious and relieved me! However, I keep reflecting on the fact that gifts should be something that you have tried and been impressed by yourself! Thank you for the meal.

Founded in 1948 in Minamimachi Sounemon-cho, we use Tamba Dainagon adzuki beans for our chunky anko, and Tokachi adzuki beans for our smooth anko, with a focus on quality. It takes 4 days to make our chunky anko, showing our dedication to the process. One popular item is the "Fukufuku" (chestnut and matcha) sweets, named after the wish for continuous good fortune. Made with rice flour, these steamed sweets with anko mixed into the dough are moist, chewy, and just the right amount of sweetness, appealing to a wide range of ages. The "Kinoumi" chestnut yokan features diced chestnuts in our homemade yokan, adding a nice texture to the smooth yokan. The "Kuri" chestnut yokan wraps a whole chestnut in red bean yokan, allowing you to enjoy the chestnut in a unique way.

I bought some offerings to take to my husband's family's house in Tsukaguchi for the "Ohigan" holiday. I decided to go with a set of these flavored sweets (10 pieces). I chose the matcha flavor and everyone at the house, including my in-laws, loved it. They even suggested going to a cafe together next time.

"I wish this could become a popular souvenir in Osaka." That's what I thought when I came across these coffee manju (Japanese sweet bun) created through a collaboration between this traditional Japanese confectionery shop and a long-standing coffee shop. "Fukujudo Hidenobu" is one of the Japanese confectionery shops that I often visit, but it had been a while since I visited their store in Hankyu Sanbangai. What I found at this store this time was the "Osaka Strong Coffee Manju" created in collaboration with the long-standing coffee shop "Marufuku Coffee." As a self-proclaimed coffee enthusiast, this sweet treat was very appealing to me, so I decided to purchase it immediately (laughs). When I got home and tried it, the rich aroma of coffee spread in my mouth along with the perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness in the red bean paste. The sweetness didn't linger, leaving only the lingering taste of coffee. There aren't many Japanese sweets with a coffee flavor, but this coffee manju I had this time is one of the best coffee-flavored sweets I've ever had. This coffee-flavored manju I had this time is also available at other stores such as the Muneemoncho store, JR Osaka and Shin-Osaka stations, and the Itami Airport shop. When it comes to Osaka souvenirs, there are various options like takoyaki or okonomiyaki-flavored snacks, but for those looking for a sophisticated and Osaka-like souvenir that can be used by adult business people, it can be quite challenging to find. For those people, I highly recommend this manju.

This restaurant mainly serves healthy udon noodles and is not just popular with women, as there were also several male customers. There were quite a few young women as well. It is a cafe of a famous sweet shop, where you can also have a meal. It has an old-fashioned light meal cafe vibe, similar to Kyoto's Bunnojo Chaya. It was a great place to eat when you want something light but your stomach isn't feeling great. The set of black glutinous rice and Inaniwa udon noodles costs 1,080 yen. It's not expensive for Umeda. The dessert of large red bean paste was truly delicious. Black glutinous rice is similar to red rice, with a gentle sweetness. The Inaniwa udon noodles were not the chewy type, but rather served in a Kyoto-style broth with plenty of vegetables. It was a udon that would make any woman happy. It's a place that makes you want to come back in winter.

I had a summer limited-time shaved ice! It was very big and enjoyable to eat. It was sweet and perfect for the hot summer. By the time I finished eating, it had gotten cold, but I was able to relax in a warm tea in a cozy space.

The Yuba Donburi in small size is just the right amount for those who eat lightly, and the mini dessert is a guilt-free treat. (Please note that the mini dessert is only available during weekday lunch hours from 11am to 3pm.)

I've been trying to give my tired stomach a break by opting for a light lunch lately. Today, I finally had the chance to visit Fukujudo Hidenobu, a place I've been curious about for a while. When I walked in, all the customers were women. I ordered the set meal with black glutinous rice and Inaniwa udon for 1080 yen, which comes with a petit dessert during lunch hours. The gentle dashi sauce with yuba and mushrooms was delicious. The maple leaf-shaped sweet treat was so cute and fitting for a traditional Japanese confectionery. I enjoyed the warm feeling from the dashi sauce and ginger on top. The sweet black glutinous rice was also tasty. It was just right for giving my tired stomach a rest. The large red bean dessert with soft shiratama added to my satisfaction. Overall, I was very happy with this stomach-friendly lunch. Thank you for the meal.

Well, I came to Umeda and visited Hankyu Sanbangai where I tried the Rokumantou from Fukujudo Hidenobu for 140 yen including tax. The taste was sweet with black smooth bean paste, and even though it was small, I was satisfied with its deliciousness. The only downside was that it was small, and I wished it was bigger. Overall, it was a delicious treat! Thank you for the meal!

[July 2015 revisit] I love the "Fukufuku" series of sweets from Pregel. Following the seasonal limited edition lemon flavor, now they have mango flavor! This summer limited edition mango sweet is priced at 180 yen (excluding tax). It is made by combining Alphonso mango puree and diced mango. The sweetness of the mango is quite strong, even sweeter than the lemon flavor. It tastes more like a Western-style dessert rather than traditional Japanese confectionery. Highly recommended for mango lovers. The colorful packaging is cute, making it a perfect little gift for girls when placed in a transparent cube-shaped box. According to the staff, the next flavors in the "Fukufuku" series will be black tea and then marron glace. They also recommend the marron glace flavor. Let's enjoy the seasonal flavors one by one! [First visit] Located in the traditional Japanese confectionery area in Hankyu Sanban-gai, I happened to discover cute sweets at this store while looking for a thank-you gift for a friend. "Fukufuku" is such a cute name, isn't it? It is said to be a wish for "good fortune to continue repeating". This sweet is perfect as a gift for a friend, so I decided to go with this sweet for my friend and also got one for myself (laughs). I love lemon cakes, and this sweet is a moist and fluffy steamed cake with Setouchi lemon peel that gives it a nice sweet and sour taste. The "Fukufuku" series also includes matcha and red bean flavors, with the "lemon" flavor being seasonal. The staff advised me that some people don't like sour flavors, so in addition to "lemon" for my friend, I also got "matcha" and "red bean" mixed in. It was packaged in a transparent cube-shaped box, making it a cute gift. The "lemon" flavor is said to be available until mid-June, but the sales period may have been extended slightly. It's quite popular! Next up is the mango flavor. While buying sweets, they also served tea and sweets. It was a heartwarming gesture. I found my favorite sweets at Pregel. Lemon lovers, grab yours soon!

Today I fell in love with a restaurant - Early February 2015, weekday night - Setsubun. When I went to Hankyu Sanbangai, I found a lucky charm Setsubun zenzai (sweet red bean soup with rice cakes). Location & Access: It is located in the middle of the basement 2nd floor of Hankyu Sanbangai South Building. The atmosphere & cleanliness: There were various Japanese sweets available. Package design: The wrapping paper is orange with a yellow diamond pattern in the middle, making it easy to recognize as Fukujudo's zenzai. Ingredients: Zenzai - sugar, rice cakes - glutinous rice (domestic). Content: Zenzai 150g, 2 rice cakes. Food & Taste: Lucky charm Setsubun zenzai is sweet and delicious. It comes with two small rice cakes. When you eat it with zenzai warmed in a gas oven, it has a fragrant and delicious taste. Service & Smile: The tea and water yokan (sweet bean jelly) served were also delicious. Cost performance: One word: Delicious! Thank you for the meal.

As it gets hotter, I crave light Japanese sweets rather than cakes. The "An Warabi" is a delicate warabi mochi with a refined sweetness from smooth red bean paste. The roasted soybean flour adds a fragrant touch. The mochi has a bouncy and smooth texture that blends perfectly with the fine and smooth red bean paste, making you feel "happy~(☆∀☆)" when you eat it. However, if you prefer a thicker and more jelly-like warabi mochi, you might find this one a bit thin. The "Kuzu Mochi" is a classic summer Japanese sweet with a smooth texture and a translucent appearance that lets you see the red bean paste inside, giving a cool feeling. Eating chilled kuzu mochi while drinking hot green tea is really satisfying! The jelly-like texture and refreshing taste make you feel grateful for being born Japanese.

This is a traditional Japanese sweet shop in Osaka. As a souvenir, I bought their signature sweet called "Sohemon". The name is very fitting for a traditional Japanese sweet shop in Osaka. Sohemon is a steamed confection made with high-quality red bean paste from Tamba and wrapped in steamed mochi. It is a single piece, so you need to cut it with a knife. While some similar sweets can be dry and crumbly, this one is perfectly moist with just the right amount of sweetness. The name is also inspired by the bustling Minami district in Osaka, making it a great souvenir option. They also have another signature sweet called "Dotonbori", which is made with white bean paste wrapped in steamed mochi. If you're not a fan of red bean paste, you might prefer this one.

This is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop located in the Gourmet Museum on the 2nd floor of the south building of Hankyu Umeda Station, Hankyu Sanbangai. They offer a steamed cake called "Fukufukufu" which I have recently become fond of. The cake has flavors like "red bean," "matcha," and a limited-time "mango." The texture is chewy and fluffy, with the sweetness and flavor of the ingredients condensed in the dough. It goes well with tea as recommended by the staff. The cakes come individually wrapped in bags, making them convenient for souvenirs. I usually buy a pack of 5, but you can also request specific flavors and quantities. It's a delightful Japanese confectionery for personal enjoyment or as a gift.
