A Western-style restaurant that opened half a century ago. Over the past 50 years, amidst the changing eras from Showa to Heisei to Reiwa, many new restaurants have emerged in Kyoto, competing with each other. Personally, I hope for changes that reflect the times, but it may also be important to maintain the unchanged taste for those who seek the flavors of the good old days of Showa.

Handmade Western food & coffee Kitchen Potto. I was interested in this place after seeing a post by Follower-san. The hamburger with a sunny-side-up egg in the middle was so delightful and delicious. My wife ordered the pork cutlet, which was tender and also delicious! Above all, the portions were generous and the cost performance was excellent!

I revisited this place, and although it's been a while since my last visit, I remember the portion size being quite large. I chose the "Special" lunch set which included beef cutlet, chicken piccata, and shrimp fry. The chicken piccata was a bit bland for my taste, but the beef cutlet and shrimp fry were delicious. The set menu portion sizes were a bit small, with only a small piece of beef cutlet and one shrimp. I felt like I wanted more. My companion chose the "Combo" where you can pick two dishes, and selected the hamburger and shrimp fry. I tried a bite of the hamburger, but it wasn't to our liking, and we both agreed that the shrimp fry was the highlight. The rice portion felt like a regular size, and we were curious about the large size option. The sauces served with the dishes were a bit scarce, and I wondered if the menu mentioning "extra sauce" for demi-glace and tartar sauce was for that reason. Overall, the lunch was indeed generous in portion size as I remembered, and with a wide variety of menu options, you can find dishes you like and get good value for your money. *There is parking available with space for 8 cars across from the restaurant.

I went for lunch based on my partner's recommendation. The restaurant seemed quite established, with a calm atmosphere that felt familiar, and the waitress exuded elegance. There were many options for Western-style lunches, but the omurice with demi-glace sauce had a gentle flavor that I really enjoyed♪ I wonder if I should go for lunch next time⁉️ It was delicious and I left feeling satisfied♪

I arrived in Kyoto on Sunday, June 25th. For lunch, I went to a Western-style restaurant in Kita-ku, Kyoto called Handmade Western Food & Cafe Kitchen Pot. The restaurant has a parking lot for 8 cars, which is convenient. I had to wait 20 minutes until opening time, so I wrote my name on a board and waited. There were already 6 people waiting, showing that it's a popular place. Finally, it was time to enter the restaurant! I sat at a table at the back of the restaurant. Except for the counter seats, all other seats were quickly filled. The ordered dishes arrived. I had the Special Set - Beef Cutlet, Shrimp Fry, Chicken Pita Curry Rice with miso soup. The rice was normal but a large portion. The beef cutlet was delicious with two pieces of lean meat. I shared one piece with my wife. Ordering it as a single item might be good too. The shrimp fry with lemon and tartar sauce was amazing. My wife had the Mixed Fry Set - Fish Fry, Shrimp Fry, Cream Croquette, with bread and miso soup, all for 1000 yen, which is cheap! It was a delicious Western meal with a good portion size. The total for two people was 2150 yen, great value for money! I'm interested in trying other menu items next time. A restaurant I want to visit again.

The jumbo chicken cutlet is amazing. Not only is it large, but the meat is tender and delicious. The sauce is also delicious. The texture of the firm cotton tofu is great. The maximum width is 150mm, just fitting on a large plate. Everything was delicious.

The service was very polite, and the kind waiter was very nice. The food was surprising! I chose the chicken cutlet and fish fry from the combo menu. I'm sure the other dishes are delicious too. I heard a lot of good things about the rumored jumbo chicken cutlet, which seems to be served in limited quantities of 5-9 pieces per day. I definitely want to try it. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. Also, the chef is too cool!

I stopped by because I was passing by. We arrived right at 12 o'clock and managed to find parking. When we entered the restaurant, we barely found seats. We ordered the combo menu and chose hamburger and shrimp fry. The shrimp fry was huge and had great value for the price. It was delicious. I want to go back again soon!

*Combo (Hamburger & Chicken Cutlet) ¥1000 There were various menu options to choose from, but I went for the combo set where you can choose your favorite 2 items ♡ I chose the hamburger and chicken cutlet, and to my surprise, the chicken cutlet came with not just one, but two pieces (°_°) I had the image that chicken cutlets made from breast meat would be dry, but it was surprisingly moist and delicious✨️ I thought two pieces might be too much, but before I knew it, I had finished them all. The hamburger had an egg on top and was topped with a ketchup-flavored sauce! The texture was fluffy and the size was just right ◎ Brown foods are always the most delicious, aren't they? ☺️

Arrived a little before 12 o'clock on Saturday. The counter had empty seats and we were seated right away, but it soon became full and later arriving groups were turned away. It was crowded and the cooking took over 30 minutes to come out. I ordered the jumbo chicken cutlet again, which itself takes time to cook. Since it was busy, I refrained from having coffee after the meal. We had time before the concert hall opened, so we headed towards Kamigamo Shrine.

Located within walking distance from Kamigamo Shrine in Kita Ward, Kyoto City, it is situated on the south side of Kamigamo Hondori near Okamoto-guchi Kodomo Park. The exterior has a clean and traditional appearance, while the interior has a seasoned and casual atmosphere. The menu offers a variety of Western dishes as the main focus, with a wide selection and abundant choices. The Jumbo Chicken Cutlet comes with rice and red miso soup, and each set has its own unique contents. The Jumbo Chicken Cutlet lives up to its name with a large size, topped with a light demiglace sauce. The chicken breast is sliced open and fried lightly, using domestic young chicken that imparts a gentle umami flavor. The meat is firm and packed with flavor, providing a moist texture that blends well with the breading. The fine breading highlights the presence of the chicken breast, allowing the subtle taste of the ingredient to shine through. The demiglace sauce complements the dish with a smooth finish, and the side dish consists only of shredded cabbage, keeping it simple. Despite its reasonable pricing, the dish is generous in portion size and clearly made with care. The restaurant is popular, quickly filling up with customers even on weekdays, and gives off an impression of being well-established and beloved in the local community.

A Western-style restaurant located near Ota Shrine in Kamigamo, Kita-ku. The hamburger set meal costs 750 yen, which is quite cheap compared to recent prices. It's not just cheap, but it's done properly. The nostalgic seasoning is comforting. The photo is of the hamburger set meal, and it's hard to tell from the picture alone, but there's a sunny-side-up egg in the middle that oozes when you cut it, with sauce overflowing. The portion of rice is quite generous. If you're concerned, you might want to order a smaller portion. The set menu options are varied, allowing for different combinations. There are about 5 parking spaces right in front of the restaurant. I visited at an off-peak time, but there were two groups that came in later. It seems to be popular among locals.

I entered because there was a parking lot nearby (which can accommodate 7-8 cars). An elderly chef, his wife, and the part-time female staff welcomed us in a serious atmosphere. There were also families coming in at the last minute. When I looked at the menu, there was an option for a double portion! Of course, I chose the fish fry and tonkatsu. Oh, the fish fry was delicious! It was fluffy, tasty, and quite big. The tonkatsu was also tasty with a rich demi-glace sauce! With this, our lunch go-to place at home is definitely decided for just 1000 yen!

Upon returning to Kyoto, I felt like having a fillet steak as part of my meal rotation. The fillet steak, also known as tenderloin, is a unique cut that contains elements perfect for recovering from fatigue. It is tender, lean, and a rare cut that elderly people may enjoy. This particular fillet steak is tender, easy to eat, and bursting with flavor. The master's cooking technique and seasoning are exceptional. It's so good that I want to have it every month. The steak has a buttery aroma, seasoned with salt and pepper, and a touch of soy sauce at the end. It comes with a side of three types of warm vegetables: broccoli, carrot, and corn, which may vary depending on the day and season. Additionally, a generous portion of fluffy hot rice is served. The soup is corn soup, not too sweet and softer than Knorr cup soup. The last order is at 19:20, and the restaurant closes at 20:00, with very few customers present.

When you feel like having Western food nearby, I also visit Kitchen Pot in Kamigamo. Today's order here is my ultimate combo! Fried squid & pork cutlet. The fried squid here is thick and bouncy with a sweet aroma of oil, quite nice for a Western restaurant in Kyoto. And the pork cutlet, with tender and simple pork loin covered in soft breading, is delicious and highly recommended. The fried squid comes with homemade mayonnaise sauce, while the pork cutlet has homemade tonkatsu sauce on top. I also add Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor. I asked for a bit more rice because the side dishes are so tasty, making the meal go down easily. The total bill came to 1050 yen. Thank you very much. After returning home, I'll have a black coffee to balance out the oil. ☕

Ota in Kamigamo, Kyoto! This place is located in the northernmost part of Kyoto in the Kamigamo area. If you're looking for a casual Western lunch, this is the place to go. Cheap and fast! Actually, when I saw Cinderella-sama from Kobe, I felt like eating it. I think her name was officially Gluttonous Princess-sama. During the pandemic, most customers come for lunch alone while working. There are few university students, so it's quiet and a time for silent eating. It's always nice like this, but I became the first customer right after opening at 11:30. I'm aiming for a time when no one is there. We need to lower the risk even a little bit. They have set up transparent plastic shields at each table to ensure a safe distance. Everyone is required to wear a mask. They have alcohol, but maybe just beer. When I tried to order curry rice from the menu, they said they weren't making it. I wonder when they will make it. Their recommended menu is the Combination. It's not about who is with who, like at a Yoshimoto stage greeting. I chose the Cream Croquette and Shrimp Fry combination. First, they served wet towels and water, then the Cream Croquette and Shrimp Fry were beautifully presented on a long plate with a vegetable salad and roast ham (tomatoes, cabbage, lettuce). There were potato salad and tomatoes hidden. I love lemon. They served lemon in a comb shape. Then came the red miso soup (with fried tofu and seaweed) and a generous portion of rice. It's a hearty meal. The Combination set is basically 950 yen, and adding Cream Croquette costs an extra 100 yen.

I visited this restaurant for lunch today. It's a Western-style restaurant that I was quite interested in. It's known for being reasonably priced and delicious. I saw that it opens at 11:00, but it actually opens at 11:30. I waited a bit in the parking lot and entered as soon as it opened. There were various set menu options, but my wife and I ordered the Special (beef cutlet, shrimp fry, chicken piccata). The order was taken before cooking started, so I was prepared to wait, but the dishes were served in about 10 minutes. Just by looking at them, you could tell they were delicious. The rice wasn't a large portion, but it was a decent amount. The beef cutlet had a slightly tangy demi-glace sauce and the meat was so tender it could be cut with chopsticks. I prefer the shrimp fry that's not opened, but this one had a nice crunchy texture. The chicken piccata was very tender and well-seasoned, very delicious. Hmm, all of them were of a high standard, and the portion size was sufficient. All this for 1000 yen is too cheap. Maybe it's because it's in a student area.
