I went to Bar Nagata in Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City. As always, I had sushi from Sakonosuke-san and felt "happy" as usual. Then, following our usual routine, we headed diagonally to Bar Nagata. I had the Moscow Mule cocktail to recover from all the eating. It's a popular cocktail, but at Nagata-san they use ginger beer instead of ginger ale, which gives it a delicious taste. It was served in a copper mug, which was a nice touch. I also ordered a Side Car, which I couldn't try last time. Watching Nagata-san's dancing shaker made me enjoy the drink even more. After enjoying the delicious drinks, I somehow managed to make it home safely. Cheers to a great meal!

I stopped by even though they were closing soon after having a meal nearby. "We'll be closing in about 30 minutes," Mr. Nagata told me, but I just wanted to have one drink before heading home. My favorite, the Sidecar cocktail, was the first choice. Mr. Nagata's Sidecar is always to my liking. I quickly finished the drink, and then I thought, what was the other drink I wanted? On this day, the charm of the bar, which is my favorite in the fruit drink and food category, stood out. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to visit due to the COVID-19 situation. I hope we can return to our normal lives soon.

In March 2020, I realized that I've been only going to the same places like here or there lately. I've been letting myself be swayed by a certain fancy gourmet website for new discoveries lol. Started off with a "John Collins" for some fizz, then moved on to a "Royal Lochnagar 12 Year" - a brand fit for royalty! Generally, whiskies with "Royal" in the name have a light and delicious taste. This one also has a light and smooth finish. Next up was the "Lagavulin 12 Year Cask Strength 2019" - just seeing the bottle gets me excited ⤴ It has a nice peaty flavor and you can tell from the color that it's a bit young and has a roughness to it, which I like. But oh no, I'm already at my limit after two drinks... It's a time for some serious thinking.

It's been quite a while since March 2020~ Seems like you've been doing well♪ The number of customers is still low, but we make up for it by drinking a lot haha. Enjoy a "Gimlet Highball" cocktail, shaking and then refreshing with a fizzy drink. It's so delicious and invigorating♡ Today's amber is... "Glenmorangie Signet" - a unique drink made by roasting malt like coffee, with an amazing chocolate-like sweet scent. I think I'll always drink it when I find it♪ "PITTYVAICH 29y" - a rare drink from a closed distillery... It's quite expensive, even at cost (sweat). A smooth drink aged in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks and Oloroso sherry casks, over 50% ABV, with a rich flavor that doesn't need any water added! The taste in the mouth enhances the aroma more than the nose... The charm of amber is endless... the happiness is never-ending haha ===========

I stopped by Mr. Nagata's place for a drink to welcome the beginning of spring in 2020. I started with a cocktail to quench my thirst before ordering a glass of amber... and this amber was outstanding! The "Glenmoramgie Signet" was presented in a gorgeous package with a sleek bottle. When I savored the aroma neat, it was surprisingly impactful! Perhaps due to the malt being roasted like coffee, it emitted an incredibly sweet chocolate-like scent. The taste spread rapidly in my mouth when I took a sip, and it was truly wonderful. Could this be the most enjoyable drink I've had recently? I got carried away and ended up having two glasses without even adding water... Encounters like this are why I can't stop exploring different types of amber.

It's been a while since I last saw Mr. Nagata, but he suddenly said, "Last time it was from Mummy Taylor, right?" How does he remember that from just one visit a long time ago? I was recommended Hot Whiskey on this cold day, it really warms you up. There was Amaretto and Whiskey bottles on the table, so it must be a Godfather cocktail. They asked if I liked Sidecars, but I declined this time. They mentioned that I had said the same thing last time. I ended up ordering it anyway, sorry! The dancing Shake I saw after a long time was still lovely. I ordered a Martini for some reason, probably because I read in reviews that shaking is not good, but it was too strong for me. I forgot to take a picture, but the Charm of the day was chocolate and fruits, delicious as always. That familiar regular customer was there again this day.

I went to see Master Nagata, who had a hard time being hospitalized in late autumn 2019, after a long time. Yes! He is still smoking that pipe (mystery). I took a look at the shake after a long time, but it still doesn't seem to be in top condition... So I decided to relax this day without ordering a shake. I quenched my thirst at "Solcubano" and then enjoyed some amber. "COLLECTIVUM XXVIII" is a blended whisky with over 57% alcohol, made from 28 distilleries!? It's amazing... When I took a sip, I was surprised that it didn't feel like 57% alcohol, but had a refreshing taste with a mouthfeel of around 45% alcohol! It has a light sweetness, not quite reaching sherry, with hints of citrus and a bit of bitterness, making it an enjoyable drink! Lastly, I had a "Martini" stirred by the bartender, making it a perfect time. ...The next day, I overslept and had a hard time...

I found "Bar Nagata" when I visited the sushi restaurant next door before! Finally, I had the opportunity to go there. The interior of the restaurant is so similar that I almost mistook it for the previous one! The size is about the same too, right? The master is still the same, and his impressive shake is still there. My friend had a "Calvados" while I had a "Negroni". Next, we tried Scotch - we both like smoky flavors, so we each had a different Scotch with a snack of blowfish skin. It was delicious. It seems like there are various developments ahead, looking forward to it! I'll definitely go back again.

I had always wanted to visit this restaurant, so I called ahead to confirm and then visited. I like whiskey but I'm not very knowledgeable about it. I told them the kind of taste I was looking for and they recommended something for me. I was a bit worried about the atmosphere because the bars I usually go to have high chairs at the counter, but the staff here made me feel comfortable. I started with a whiskey on the rocks from the right end of the menu. It was smooth and easy to drink, very delicious. I thought I might keep going with that one, so I tried something different next. I had the one in the photo on the rocks, and for my fourth drink I had it straight. They were all delicious. A regular customer even treated me to a drink. The aroma of the whiskey lingered much longer compared to what I've had before, and it was also very tasty. Thank you for a wonderful time. It was a happy experience. Thank you for the meal.

I have been taught all the wonderful aspects of this bar and it has become my favorite place. I feel strongly that those who cannot follow proper etiquette should not go there. I may be the only one feeling this way, but I believe it is important to show consideration towards others and the staff, regardless of where you go. I always try to be mindful and show respect to those around me. I hope there are always people who think of Mr. Nagata.

I visited this bar across from "Wa-Sake Nagata" for the first time. The space between the counter and table seats is wide. I ordered two drinks, leaving the final one as a Sidecar. The Mamie Taylor Whiskey and a drink made with Glenmorangie were delicious. I also enjoyed a brandy-based drink. The Sidecar was incredibly delicious. The bartender was so cool that I ended up taking multiple photos. Just when I thought I would leave, a celebrity-looking regular treated me to a Gin and Tonic. The fruits and cheese were also tasty. I love bars with delicious cocktails and charm. Although the location is a bit inconvenient, I definitely want to revisit this bar.

During the hot summer of 2018, don't you sometimes feel like seeing Nagata-san dancing like crazy? (lol) Enjoy the usual shake at the classic "French 95" and have fun with the squats ♡ Today, while looking at the amber, I enjoyed a smoky drink at another bar. Tried the "Ardbeg Grooves" before it disappears, and I still love it. The limited edition model with a unique character enhanced by wine barrels is delicious! ...I had a great time getting tipsy again today ♡

On this spring evening in 2018, a middle-aged man searches for amber once again. Hmm, I feel like watching Naga-san's dancing shake tonight. I saw a rare gin, so I'll try it with a light carbonated mix. "Monkey 47 with soda" has a unique strong aroma, but it's best to drink it straight or with soda. It's a bit too strong for delicate cocktails, but I like the hint of sansho pepper-like scent. "GLENMORANGIE ORIGINAL" is great with orange peel in a highball - refreshing, right? Orange goes really well with it, better than lemon. Lastly, I played around with bourbon and had a fun time once again. Oh! I forgot to order something to shake... I'll have to come back again. That's the kind of playful night it was.

The first night of spring in 2018, I had a delightful drink, or should I say three drinks haha. The big parties are finally slowing down, so I've been going to bars more often. When I come here, I always like to try something fizzy, like the "Gimlet Highball." It's refreshing with a hint of lime, perfect as a starter! I wanted to order a Mint Julep, but they don't have mint during the winter, of course haha. I ended up trying the "Woodford Reserve Derby Bottle 2014," which I bought just because of the cool bottle design. It has a rich flavor but finishes smoothly, even when drank straight. Next, I tried the "Colonel E.H. Taylor Four Grain" bourbon, which is quite premium. It's not as sweet as typical bourbons, but the aging in barrels gives it a deep and flavorful taste. I really enjoyed it! I also ordered some chocolate to go with my bourbon and had my usual "Sidecar" cocktail. It was a fun and enjoyable time at the bar! Oh, and at the end, someone asked me what I was drinking haha...I guess I should try to keep it a bit quieter in the bar next time, especially with unfamiliar neighbors!

Late autumn of 2017, tonight's final stop is definitely a bar, right? Enjoying Mr. Nagata's unique shake is fun, but tonight, starting with a whiskey exploration from "Solcubano"! Starting with "SCAPA 2005", a light and easy-to-drink whiskey, then moving on to "Ardbeg ANOA" with Pedro Ximenez sherry cask finish! It's great - my current favorite is sherry cask, where the peaty aroma of Islay combines with the spiciness of sherry. Why is it that when Pedro uses the barrel, it turns out so well? Well, as long as it tastes good, it's all good, right? Next time, I'll go see Mr. Nagata's shake performance! 😄😄

In 2017, bartender Nagata is known for his unique shaking style, which is worth seeing at least once. At first, it may be surprising, but you'll get used to it quickly. Today, I ordered a Sherry cask from my favorite bar, "Solcubano," and got a 10-year-old Glenmorangie Sherry Wood Finish. It's a shot I've had for almost a decade, not too expensive but hard to come by these days. It has a smooth Sherry-like sweetness with a light dried grape aroma lingering in the finish. After finishing the drink, you can enjoy the lingering scent in the glass. Finished off with a Sidecar, it was a great time.
