On this day, I was feeling hungry before going to Fukushima's favorite bar, so I decided to look for a place to eat heartily. I took a stroll through the Seiten-dori shopping street, which I don't usually visit. And I found a flashy red lantern! Looking at the menu, it seemed like a skewered cutlet shop. When I checked this restaurant on Tabelog, there were only 3 reviews, and there hadn't been any new reviews for over a year. It was surprising to see that in Fukushima, one of Osaka's top gourmet spots. Despite my concerns, I decided to go in because a top reviewer in Fukushima, Ash-van, had given it a good rating. The interior of the restaurant had a counter with 7 seats, two 4-seater tables, one 2-seater table, and a sunken kotatsu table that could seat up to 6 people at the back. It didn't have a particularly stylish feel, but the simple decor was neat and likable. I sat at a 2-seater table and ordered a draft beer. The draft beer was Super Dry and cost ¥290, which was cheap and convenient for someone like me who enjoys beer. Looking at the menu, skewered cutlets were the main items, ranging from ¥100 to ¥180, which was reasonable. I started with a skewer assortment (5 skewers). I also ordered three recommended side dishes other than skewered cutlets. - Super Dry draft beer ¥290 - Skewer assortment ¥700 (beef skewer, shrimp, pork cutlet, vegetable (shishito pepper), red wiener) - Tuna and egg potato salad ¥350 - Beef tendon ¥390 - Simmered sardines with plum ¥380 The skewer assortment arrived, and the skewered cutlets, fried to a golden brown, were generally large in size. When dipped in the sauce and eaten, they were surprisingly delicious! They were crispy and fried just right, with a perfect balance of thickness in the batter and a good amount of filling. Moreover, the sauce was quite tasty! The sauce itself had a strong umami flavor, with a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity that complemented the skewered cutlets well. The beef and pork meat were of good quality and tender, and the red wiener was also delicious. The shrimp was thick and satisfying to eat. The other side dishes, such as beef tendon and potato salad, were standard, but the simmered sardines with plum was light and tasty. After that, I added 7 more skewers! - Skewers (7 skewers) total ¥1,050 (kisu shiso, pickled ginger, quail egg, salmon, crunchy minced meat, scallop with salt, onion) The additional skewers were all crispy and delicious, with just the right amount of batter thickness. The kisu shiso and scallop with salt were delicious when eaten with salt, but they might have been even better with sauce. This sauce was perfect for skewered cutlets and really delicious! The staff's service was good, and the owner was also a nice person. I only had two draft beers this time, but the total bill was about ¥3,500. There are still hidden gem restaurants like this in Fukushima, it seems. Amazing Fukushima! Thank you for the meal!
