A shop located on the second floor or mezzanine of a cat cafe, with a variety of unique menu items. The male staff member was friendly, while the female staff member seemed a bit indifferent. The tapioca was delicious, but there were a lot of clumps. Maybe it had been sitting for too long? I want to go back again! I want to eat something delicious!

I went to get some tapioca after a long time. Tapioca, which has already established an image of being "outdated" in society, can still be seen around town. Places like Doutor and Tully's are promoting tapioca drinks, and there are specialty stores that have popped up, like "Gong Cha," where lines are forming. Once something creates a big trend, it never completely disappears... I feel the staying power of tapioca. So, after a long time, I visited a tapioca drink shop. I actually planned to go to a different shop, but it was sold out due to the congestion during Golden Week. While strolling near Shinjuku Station, I came across "16 TAPI" near the west exit of the station. It's close to the place with the famous 3D display of a cat. Speaking of which, recently, Kyuruga from "Night is Short, Walk On Girl" has been appearing. Even though it's not entirely focused on cuteness, I can't help but smile while watching. I want to be like Futa-kun. The building where the shop is located has a cat cafe on the 3rd to 5th floors, and it seems you can bring the drink you purchased here inside. However, when I visited, it was already late at night, and unfortunately, the cat cafe was closed, so I decided to take out the drink and enjoy it on the way home. Here's what I drank: Roasted Brown Sugar Tapioca Milk (Large). It's been a while, so I went with the basic brown sugar flavor. The milk base with a generous amount of brown sugar flowing in a smooth stream. The tapioca pearls were on the smaller side but had a nice chewy texture. There was quite a lot of tapioca in the drink. With less ice, the flavor didn't become too diluted even after some time. It's been a while since I had one, but I still enjoy the chewy texture of tapioca. I think it would be nice to see tapioca spread even more beyond just drinks. Thank you for the meal!

Black sugar tapioca milk in large size! Lots of ice and plenty of tapioca pearls! The warm, chewy tapioca pearls were delicious. The strong black sugar flavor was just right for my taste, and it was very tasty. At 650 yen, it's a great deal. There is almost no seating space for eating in, only enough for one group. Thank you for the meal! ^_^

It is located right across the signal from JR Shinjuku Station East Exit. The prices are reasonable, and personally, I like the slightly firm texture, so you can enjoy drinks with just the right texture of tapioca. By the way, if you go to the store on a day with a 6, something good might happen.

This place is the best! You can buy tapioca here and then spend 15 minutes playing with cats at the cat cafe upstairs. I actually ordered milk tea without tapioca, but it was so good. The management is really smart. The cats are adorable and the cat snacks are also cheap at 330 yen.

After drinking, I suddenly realized that I had tapioca in my drink. Apparently, it's from a newly opened shop in the same building as a cat cafe and a pet shop, making it a dream-like place for young people. They offer 16 flavors to choose from, and I ordered the Black Sugar Soy Milk Blueberry Tapioca for 700 yen (with less ice). It was quite sweet and lukewarm, probably because I asked for less ice. The tapioca kept getting stuck in the straw, and when I tried to suck it out forcefully, it shot straight into my throat, making me choke. Maybe this is just part of the tapioca experience. It's recommended to have normal or more ice during this season. Looking back, I didn't think much about it at the time, but paying 700 yen for a drink seems like a good business idea, especially for tapioca lovers. Tapioca dreams indeed. Thanks for the meal.

Whenever I look, there is always a line, but I really wanted to go before June 16th, so I decided to line up around 5 pm on Sunday! Finally, when I thought it was my turn, they said they had sold out of tapioca (;´Д`A How can a tapioca shop be out of tapioca...! So, I had to think of a menu other than tapioca! The Strawberry Milk (M) for 500 yen and (L) for 600 yen only cost 172 yen (((o(*゚▽゚*)o))) It's a delicious strawberry milk made with rich milk and additive-free strawberry jam. I was told that it would be an additional 50 yen for no ice, so I ordered it with less ice! It was not too sweet and had no aftertaste, very delicious! Happy~ The Eatery Rating (as of June 2020) is 3.00!

I had some free time and decided to extend my trip to Shinjuku. I was intrigued by a flyer that was in my mailbox, so I decided to visit this store. I'm usually not drawn to tapioca drinks, but I thought it would be a good opportunity to try it out. They had a special opening promotion where you could get up to 2 drinks per person for 160 yen each plus tax. The promotion was until June 16th. Despite the current situation, there was a line with people keeping a good distance from each other. There were couples, groups of girls, surprisingly some middle-aged people, and even someone like me, an older lady. Inside the store, the staff of about 6-7 people were very busy, working in the kitchen, handling the register, and overall seemed very rushed. I decided to try the Black Sugar Tapioca Almond Milk Tea and the seasonal limited Dragon Smoothie. I wasn't sure what the Dragon Smoothie was made of, so I asked the cashier. She kindly explained that it had dragon fruit jam in it. They packed the drinks in a special bag for takeout. I planned to bring them back to my workplace, so I walked for about 30 minutes and the drinks didn't spill at all. The nylon bag was really impressive. When ordering, they asked about the size, sweetness level (from none to 4 levels), and ice amount (from none to extra with additional cost). I chose the smoothie with no sweetness. Maybe it would have been better with some sweetness. The smoothie had more of an icy texture than I expected. The Dragon Fruit jam added a sweet and sour taste, and the cream was light and not very sweet. I wondered if I should have mixed the cream in. I felt like I was a bit late to this trend. It was my first time trying this kind of drink and it was interesting. The Tapioca drink was quite sweet with the Black Sugar Tapioca and Almond Tofu. The tapioca had a chewy texture and added a nice bite to the drink. The black sugar flavor was strong. I also want to try the Blueberry Tapioca drink that was sold out. They had a variety of fruit drinks, soda drinks, and cheese cream tea series. I discovered a new world and had a great experience. Thank you for the meal.

There is a tapioca shop in Shinjuku. It is located just 1 minute from JR Shinjuku Station East Exit, right next to Shinjuku Alta. This new store opened in May 2020. I heard that they are having a campaign where all drinks are 160 yen until June 16th to commemorate the opening, so I went there immediately. The shop is called 16tapi, so maybe they set the campaign price to 160 yen and the deadline to the 16th (lol). I went there on a Sunday around 4 pm. There were about 16 people waiting in line. The interior of the shop has a pretty pop atmosphere that young people would like. There is a cat cafe attached, and during the campaign period, if you buy a drink, you can experience the cat cafe for 15 minutes for free. I am more of a dog person, so I just bought the tapioca (lol). After waiting for about 40 minutes, I ordered the following:
- Burnt Brown Sugar Tapioca (normally 620 yen)
The sweetness of the brown sugar is a bit weak. When you mix it and drink it, the brown sugar is almost overshadowed by the milk. I'm not a big fan of the taste of milk itself, so I didn't really like the combination (^_^;) I also tried the matcha latte that my companion was drinking, but the matcha flavor was quite weak too. Well, I can't really complain too much since I got it for 160 yen. Thank you for the meal.

When you order one tapioca drink, you can play in the cat cafe on the second floor for 15 minutes for free. I confirmed with the staff, showed them my tapioca receipt, and entered the cat world! The 15 minutes flew by, and the cats were so cute that I decided to extend my time and paid for the extension before leaving. The cats were adorable and very soothing, making me want to buy tapioca here again. The indoor space was calm and relaxing.

On the 16th, all items were priced at 160 yen, so I decided to order the Oreo brown sugar tapioca drink. It wasn't as sweet as I expected, almost like they forgot to put in the sugar, and there was no hint of brown sugar flavor. Also, the tapioca pearls were undercooked, with a hard and chewy center. When the drink was handed to me, even the staff seemed surprised. Maybe there was a mistake with the product. It was more disappointing than any other tapioca drink I've had before, and I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it.

Tapioca cafe in front of Alta in Shinjuku. I used it to adjust the meeting time. There is a cat cafe on the second floor. Even though it's a tapioca cafe, they also have a good selection of drinks without tapioca. I had jasmine milk tea in ice. It was refreshing and surprisingly not crowded, making it easy to use. It seems like a good deal, as you get one free when you order with Uber. Thank you for the meal.

After visiting the dentist, I was shopping at Takashimaya and wandering around when I saw a lady calling people in front of the East Exit station, so I decided to stop by (*゚ω゚)ノ Until June 16th, everything is 160 yen. Well, with tax included, it's actually 172 yen. Still, it's cheaper than any other tapioca drink shops in the past! I tried the matcha latte. It was not too sweet and came with ice by default. No toppings. Yeah, it was just right with the sweetness level σ(*´∀`*) They have a variety of flavors, and if it's a promotional period until June 16th, I might come back again♪ And guess what...while waiting for my order, there was another sweet temptation...(/ω・\)チラッ They offer 15 minutes free at the attached cat cafe, Sorariku-ya (=゚ω゚=)ナニ! Of course, I had to go ⭐️ So, let's continue the adventure at Sorariku-ya ε=(ノ・∀・)ツ
