You can hear the lively "Fried ___" at the Takashimaya department store basement (^_^) The crispy coating and light delicious sauce go well even when taken home. It's great that there are many varieties to choose from! On this day, I had shrimp and broccoli, shiitake mushrooms, pork, and sandfish. Thank you for the delicious meal!

In the basement of Takashimaya Osaka, there is a Kobe Kitanozaka Kushi Katsu restaurant. They offer a wide variety of kushi katsu skewers, including some unique original options. You can choose between fried and raw skewers, which is convenient. You can also order by simply filling out an order form. The skewers are large and filling, and the quality of the ingredients is evident in the delicious taste. Each skewer comes with original sauce.

In March, it's the Osaka tournament... Watching sumo in those cramped box seats is quite uncomfortable. So, I reserved regular seats this time and brought my own food without going through the tea house. I wandered around the basement of Takashimaya and bought a bento, assorted tempura, and kushikatsu. I ordered the assorted pack of 10 for 1000 yen, which was already packed. I also got some beer from the convenience store near the Prefectural Gymnasium, since canned beer is allowed unlike at the stadium. In the end, I was full and decided to enjoy the food at home. I'll heat it up in the microwave, and it even comes with sauce. It's a mix of expensive items like shrimp, squid, and pork fillet, along with cheaper vegetables. It was a delicious treat for a beer snack in the evening.

There is a takeout restaurant in the Depachika of Takashimaya in Namba that sells kushikatsu. I bought some to enjoy while watching a day game at Koshien. Of course, I hoped that eating kushikatsu would bring good luck to the game. But let's put the game result aside for now, it's better not to dwell on it. You can buy the kushikatsu without it being fried, but we naturally bought the fried ones. Watching the kushikatsu being fried right in front of you makes you want to try them all, so it's dangerous to go buy them when you're hungry. Yes, I ended up buying too much. By the time we arrived at Koshien, they were just slightly warm, but still delicious. Pouring the sauce from the small square container and eating them is the ultimate beer snack. However, as for the game result...

Osaka also became famous for its inbound frenzy before the corona pandemic, with only kushikatsu being famous. From Shinsekai, Dotonbori, Kyobashi, Umeda, Juso... every combination of coarse and fine breadcrumbs, varying sizes of ingredients, thick and thin frying oil, hard and soft textures, sweet and spicy sauces, light and rich sauces... differs from each shop, truly a "kushikatsu road" during the Warring States period. The best way to enjoy freshly fried kushikatsu is to pour it down with draft beer at the shop, scoop the sauce with shredded cabbage. But the kushikatsu at "Kitano" is the epitome of unpretentious classic kushikatsu. Of course, buying freshly fried kushikatsu at the shop and reheating it in the toaster at home until crispy is delicious, but if you have a fryer at home, it is highly recommended to bring it home "raw" and fry it yourself while surrounded by the fryer. Ordering a set of fifteen and adding five seasonal limited edition skewers is recommended. You can eat twenty skewers for about 3,000 yen. It's the best in terms of cost performance and taste.

Wow!! I couldn't believe it when I found out that you can get freshly fried kushikatsu to go at the department store basement! It's amazing! And they had unique menu items like conger eel with plum and shiso leaf, summer vegetable skewers, shiso-flavored chikuwa, Kamo eggplant, and even a "Winpy" kushikatsu that I've never seen before. It was so exciting to see all these options. Osaka is the best! ★Shiso Chikuwa 173 yen: A genius idea to put shiso inside the chikuwa. It's the taste of happiness. ★Kamo Eggplant 173 yen: I had to order this rare item (not found in Hokkaido). It's fluffy and has an interesting texture. ★Summer Vegetable Skewers 206 yen: A great way to enjoy eggplant, pumpkin, and bell pepper in one skewer. This place is a dream come true for kushikatsu lovers! Thank you for the delicious meal! I want to try all the varieties (laughs)

I love kushikatsu, but it's hard to go out for dinner these days. When I want to have a luxurious evening at home, I buy kushikatsu from Kitanozaka. Enjoying kushikatsu with my family at home is delicious and makes me feel luxurious. I can cook at my own pace and adjust the heat to my liking. I start with beer and switch to highball as I enjoy the kushikatsu. It's freezing outside, but inside my home, I can relax without worrying about getting home. After filling my stomach and getting a little tipsy, I just lie down and relax. Another luxurious dinner tonight, thank you.

"Hey!! Want to make your home drinking experience more exciting? Check out this place I found in the department store basement. - A popular skewered cutlet shop - Various types of skewers available, including regular and seasonal options - Prices range from 100 yen to 200 yen per skewer (excluding tax) - Skewers are usually fried (but can be purchased raw) - Comes with homemade sauce - No extra charge for packaging You can order the skewers you want by writing them on an order form. The staff will then pick them up and show them to you in a strainer while announcing the names of the skewers. They are efficient, friendly, and very polite. Skewers include lotus root, Wiener sausage, sardine, pork tenderloin, and summer vegetables (pumpkin, eggplant, bell pepper). Dip them in the sauce and enjoy the crispy goodness. Even when they cool down, they are still delicious. The skewers have a good oil drain, allowing you to taste the crispy texture of the ingredients and the aroma of the frying oil. The homemade sauce is slightly spicy and goes well with the vegetables too. Bon appétit!"
