I vaguely remembered that there was a jazz club in Daimyo Ichome called JazzClub KINGFISH. It was only a 5-minute walk from the hotel, so I decided to go check it out at 22:30. As expected, there was a live performance going on. There were only four people in the audience, all of them young. I sat at the counter and ordered an I.W.HARPER on the rocks. Since they didn't have my favorite whiskey, I decided to go with bourbon. It had been a while since I had bourbon. The performance started with a piano solo, and the last two songs were with the drummer. The final song was Chick Corea's "Spain," which I love, so I was very satisfied. Fukuoka has been a hub for music from the Showa era to the present day. Artists like Inoue Yosui, Kaientai, Tulip, KAI BAND, THE ROCKERS, CHAGE & ASKA, Matsuda Seiko, Nakamura Ayumi, Fumiya of The Checkers, Hiromi Go, Masaaki Sakai, Ayumi Hamasaki, Shiina Ringo, MISIA, and many more have gained fame from Fukuoka. Unfortunately, I only know vocalists and bass players in the jazz scene. Upon researching, I found out that there are quite a number of jazz clubs and jazz cafes in Fukuoka. It feels like I've discovered a new source of enjoyment in Fukuoka. The club seemed to be open later, but I was worried about the hotel's curfew (I wasn't sure if there was one), so I decided to leave at that time.

Just had my first visit to Mambo, which recently had its ban lifted. I was essentially the only customer, but the master was very welcoming. The live performance that day was by a young pianist from Fukuoka, who delivered a performance with substance over three stages. The interior of the restaurant is spacious, with a focus on seating for two people and even a counter, creating a nice atmosphere. The cocktails are made one by one by the master, shaking them with care, giving them an authentic touch. Located on the second floor along Kokutai Road, the place is clean and has a good vibe. They accept card payments. Just be aware that they stock relatively high-quality alcohol, so the prices are accordingly high. Make sure to confirm the prices when placing your order.

I went to "Jazz Club KINGFISH" located on the 2nd floor of Matsuya across from Imazumi 1-chome bus stop in Fukuoka City. This jazz bar opened in Daimyo in 2014, and is known for its live music, extensive selection of Scotch whiskey, and delicious fish dishes caught by the owner himself. With around 200 bottles and 100 cocktails available, you can enjoy both music and drinks at this stylish bar. I had the tuna bowl for lunch, which was fresh and delicious. The interior is stylish with jazz music playing in the background, and the owner's fishing lures displayed at the counter. I recommend trying the katsudon or curry rice next time.

I enjoyed drinking with a girl while listening to jazz stylishly. The atmosphere was not calm and I was taught how to drink whiskey carefully. It was a fun experience.

An abundance of alcohol and live music - so wonderful, it's simply amazing!

I had been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while, so I had high expectations. The food was as expected, but it was disappointing to see that the performer seemed a bit tired. This is just my personal opinion.

Located on the second floor of a building along Kokutai Street, this bar welcomes you with a 27-kilogram Kingfish caught by the owner. The staff greets you with a smile. The bar opened in 2014, so the interior is clean and welcoming, perfect for beginners. Fukuoka is known for its many traditional jazz bars, but this bar stands out with over 200 types of whiskey, 100 cocktails, and a diverse food menu. The owner sometimes catches fish in the morning, and depending on the catch, you might even get to enjoy sashimi. With a variety of drinks and food options, including unusual items like sashimi at a jazz bar, this place is truly impressive. On this visit, we ordered Chivas Regal 12y, Johnnie Walker, Grasshopper, Midori Mojito, Tuna Cutlet (from the daily fish dish), Margherita, and Blue Cheese. The music charge ranges from 1,000 yen from 8:00 to 10:00 PM to 500 yen from 10:00 PM until closing. We arrived around 9:00 PM and enjoyed the music, drinks, and food until 12:30 AM. Even for jazz novices like us, it was a delightful experience, and we look forward to returning in the future.

The atmosphere is great, the music, food, and drinks are all delicious. The owner, who is knowledgeable about whiskey, shares interesting stories. The staff all seem to love this place, creating a warm and welcoming environment. The dishes made from fish caught by the owner were also very tasty. ✨

There are both counter and table seats available. Live jazz performances are held every day. With various guest musicians, you can enjoy a variety of music. They have a wide selection of whiskies, which is quite satisfying. The food menu is surprisingly diverse, so you won't have trouble finding something to snack on.
