When I went to the shop around 3 p.m. on a weekday, there were quite a few breads left. There was a wide variety of choices, especially lots of bagels. I purchased the limited-time peach, cream cheese, and sansho pepper bagel, as well as the strawberry and chocolate? bagels. The bagels themselves had a simple taste that highlighted the quality of the ingredients, which was very good. I also bought the French toast, which was simply delicious. I would like to go buy more again.

It is located about a 12-minute walk from Kitayama Station. Bagel with chestnut for 220 yen: Sweet chestnut chunks are generously mixed in. The combination of the moderately sweet and chewy dough with chestnuts is delicious. Bagel with spicy cod roe for 260 yen: A bagel that I always buy when I go to Grandeur. The amount of spicy cod roe and the spiciness are just right and delicious.

Visited the restaurant after 12:00. As a popular spot with 100 seats, the interior was bustling. ・Cheese, Walnut, and Honey Focaccia First impression was the gentle sweetness of honey. Cheese and honey complement each other well. Walnuts add a textural accent. ・Custard Danish Sweet. Blissful. Sweet. Rich custard cream and beloved Danish pastry, irresistible for those with a sweet tooth. The gentle taste of custard, egg, a nostalgic flavor. ・Pirozhki Time for a flavor change. Crispy breadcrumbs on the outside, with onions and meat inside. Enjoy the crunchy texture of onions. Refreshing scent like salt, pepper, and lemon, with a taste reminiscent of a salty sauce.

I passed by again... rode my bike back a bit... Is this the place? Went inside... around 13:00, quite a lineup... Their specialty seems to be this bread... And today is the anniversary festival with 60 yen off lucky bread. Paid 380 yen for a Kyoto-style bread with 5 colored beans and cream cheese... Will go there next. Had it for lunch the next day... it got a bit squished but it was truly sweet and soft, really good.

On the 22nd, the chigiripan was on sale, and I couldn't resist wanting to try everything, so I ended up buying 7 for lunch by myself! It was my first time trying freshly baked melon pan. The outside was crispy, the inside was soft, and the more I chewed, the rich buttery aroma spread throughout my mouth, making me feel completely happy. The most delicious one was the cream puff! It was great value for money, and I will definitely go buy it again!!

I love Grandeur's brioche cream pan. It's my first time trying a brioche dough cream pan, and it's also my first time having a cube-shaped cream pan! I really like the rich custard cream. I'm glad I found it♪ Today's companion, the patissier, was delicious, but the brioche stole the show! The canapé with cheese, potato salad, mentaiko, and baked cheese had a perfect and exquisite harmony, it was delicious! Thank you for always providing delicious bread♪ Thank you for the meal!

There were many types of bagels, and they were shining beautifully, so I chose a plain bagel without hesitation. I wanted to explore the interior of the store more. At the cashier counter, they carefully put each piece of bread into a plastic bag for you. The golden melon bread was subtly sweet and had a crispy outer layer.

A bakery located a short distance north of Shimogamo Shrine. I bought this bread thinking it might be the kind that comes to mind when you think of Kyoto. The matcha bagel had a chewy texture and a matcha aroma. I couldn't tell if the filling inside was matcha or chocolate, but it had a rich sweetness. The sweetness of the chestnut naturally complemented it. Thank you for the meal. I'm not a big fan of bagels in general, but even I enjoyed this one.

In December 2022, during my 3-night, 4-day trip to Kyoto, I had made a dinner reservation at the nearby Spanish restaurant CLIMA, so I decided to stop by quickly beforehand. It was close to 6 p.m., so the selection was somewhat limited, but I ended up buying quite a few things. Kyoto-style rolled omelette sandwich for 313 yen, Legume (vegetable sandwich & potato salad sandwich) for 470 yen, Beef Stew for 260 yen, Canele for 190 yen, Canele White Chocolate Caramel Nut for 230 yen, Butter Caramel Rusk for 248 yen. Truly a well-established bakery in Kyoto! The combination of hearty bread with beef stew and the Canele were especially delicious.

I bought the limited-time matcha bagel and it was delicious, with the firm texture typical of a famous bagel shop! The other bread also looked very tasty, so I bought a lot. I tried them little by little, and my personal favorite was the mentaiko bagel!

The reputation is well-deserved. The filling of the bagel is similar to a meat bun and has a strong smell. The deep flavor of onions and minced meat (probably sausage) is complemented by the aroma of herbs, combining the strong umami of Chinese cuisine with the mellowness of Western cuisine. The bagel itself seems to have been adjusted to be soft and easy to eat. The canelé is perfect. The tart is exquisite (the rich aroma of apples is very nice). The scones are subtly sweet and just right with jam and butter (actually, it should be clotted cream, but butter works well too). The place is always crowded, and there are often elderly customers, so be prepared to wait in line patiently.

I walked a little from Kamogamo and went to the Grandeil Kamogamo store. It is a bakery famous in Nagoya, and it is a branch of Antiqua. The interior of the store is full of stylish items, although there are no large, hearty breads like in Antiqua. I bought the Beef Stew Bread. They bake beef stew inside the bread. The aroma and sweetness of the beef stew go well with the semi-hard baguette, making it a very delicious bread. It uses quite a bit of oil and is a rich savory bread.

I bought a delicious and visually appealing canelé with cream on top, and it looked so delicious that I had to try it. The taste matched my expectations, which was lucky. The Earl Grey bread, probably a limited-time item, had a subtle Earl Grey flavor remaining, and it was delicious.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while. I was particularly intrigued by their "Brioche Cream Pan." So, on a certain weekday in September, I decided to go check it out. The closest subway stations seemed to be Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma Line's Kitaoji Station, Kitayama Station, and Matsugasaki Station. When I measured on the map with my finger, it seemed roughly the same distance from anywhere, but it looked like Kitayama Station was the nearest. I walked there and arrived at the shop around 1:40 p.m. (see Photo 1). Upon entering, there was a register on the left and bread on the right. The size of the shop and the number of bread for sale seemed quite standard. Now, about the "Brioche Cream Pan" I was looking for... I found it! (1 piece for 220 yen) There were only a few left, but I managed to secure one. Phew. Since I was there, I thought of getting one more... and after considering, I found that the "Golden Melon Pan" seemed to be popular. (1 piece for 170 yen) So, I purchased that as well. Since there was no seating inside, I walked around for a bit and found myself at the Kamogawa River. There was a nice bench on the riverbank, so I sat there elegantly to enjoy my treats. The "Brioche Cream Pan" (see Photo 2)... the highlight of this visit. Generally, when you think of cream puffs, you imagine them in a round shape, but this one was like a cube of sandwich bread. That was a big feature. As I took a bite, I could taste the rich buttery aroma in the fluffy brioche dough. Inside, there was a thick, dark custard cream with the richness of egg yolk. Yes, it was delicious. The "Golden Melon Pan" (see Photo 3)... didn't look very shiny on the outside. However, when I took a bite...!!! A crispy texture and the flavor of melon. Then, slowly seeping from the dough was a slightly salty butter cream. It was even more refreshing than I had imagined. This made the melon flavor stand out even more. It's not often you find a melon bun with such a fruity impression. I was surprised. The taste was outstanding. Delicious! A hit. Finished eating. I closed my eyes and savored the taste in my mind. The "Brioche Cream Pan" tasted just as I had imagined, but the "Golden Melon Pan" exceeded my expectations in a good way. Ah, so this is the taste of a famous shop. If you ever find yourself nearby, be sure to give it a try.

It takes about 10 minutes to walk from Kitayama Subway Station, so I rarely visit the Grandir Shimogamo store. It was a few years since my last visit, as I drove to the northern part of Kyoto City for a late lunch. As expected from a famous store, customers kept coming even in the early afternoon, and the staff efficiently handled the crowd. They effectively promoted new and seasonal items to keep regular customers interested. The displayed baking times were clear and helpful. They also have event days like half-price focaccia or 20 yen off on bagels. Since I had never bought sandwiches at Grandir before, I indulged and bought two for lunch this time. The Kyoto-style dashimaki tamago sandwich (313 yen) was neatly packed with bread and rolled omelette, featuring a unique touch of roasted seaweed with a hint of mustard for accent. The dashimaki was not too sweet, firm, and did not get soggy even after some time, making it a good sandwich to carry around. The Specio Avat (590 yen) was my choice as I wanted to try both the potato salad sandwich and the pork cutlet sandwich. The potato salad had a slightly firm and crunchy texture with a chunky, slightly spicy, tangy dressing that had an adult-like flavor. The pork cutlet sandwich had no vegetables, just the cutlet all the way to the edge, tender and addictively delicious with its sweet and savory sauce. The canelé (190 yen) had a beautiful brown color, and among the soft-surfaced canelé types, this one ranked high for me! The chewy inner texture resembled a high-quality custard baked into a pastry, very satisfying. It's also a great gift to bring back. The coffee (100 yen) was made one cup at a time by the machine after ordering at the register, served piping hot. It had a gentle, refreshing aroma and a mild taste. It would go well with any type of bread. For those who may have overlooked the coffee here, I recommend having it with the bread. I think Grandir has made a significant contribution to the image of Kyoto as a city with many stylish bakeries. They have been supported by Kyoto locals for a long time, perhaps because they value both classics and a bit of change. Next time, I would like to try the classic torn bread or baguette. Thank you for the meal. Thank you very much.

I have eaten bagels several times before, but the bagels at "Grandeur" were exceptional. Unlike previous bagels that were often chewy on the outside but dry on the inside, leaving me feeling unsatisfied afterwards, the bagels at this shop were different. Made with natural yeast, these bagels had a soft and pleasant texture. I could chew on them forever. The sweetness and aroma of the wheat were also wonderful, and I wanted to savor them as they were, without any toppings. Although I initially thought this was typical of Kyoto, I was surprised to learn that the company is based in Nagoya, and they opened a store in Kameido, Tokyo in May this year. It's great that they are more accessible than I thought!

The voluminous egg and crispy croissant were great(^^) First visit to a bakery in Kyoto Kitayama known for its bread! Visited on a Saturday at 10 AM, no waiting outside, entered immediately! Among the high-quality products at Grandir, this time I purchased the Egg Croissant Sandwich! The voluminous egg with crispy croissant was great! Enjoyed it very much(^^)

In the northern area of Kyoto, there is a restaurant here that seemed familiar, and I realized it's actually affiliated with the one near the city hall! When I visited in the evening, they had a nice selection to choose from, which was lucky! The most impressive part was the patissier - the cream inside was incredibly delicious! They had cream puffs displayed in the showcase next to the register, so maybe next time? Thank you for the meal.
