I went to Kurume University Asahi-machi Campus for some business and on the way, I noticed a shop that caught my attention. It was called "Chisou Ogata." The fluttering curtain at the entrance immediately caught my eye. After finishing my errands, I decided to stop by this shop located on Iryo-dori. There is a parking space for one car located on the north side of the shop labeled as number 1. (The space labeled as number 2 is actually for a different shop's contract parking). Additionally, there are about 4 parking spaces across the road, but they are parallel parking spaces, so it's honestly not very convenient.
I visited the shop at 1:00 PM. Upon entering, I could see that there were 5 counter seats, 1 table for 2 people, and 3 tables for 4 people. There might be more seating space in the back as well. The 4-person table was already occupied by other customers, so as I was alone, I decided to sit at the counter. Looking at the menu, they had 4 categories - eel dishes, omurice dishes, set meals like ginger pork, and bowl dishes like tuna belly bowl. Among them, I was most interested in the "Eel Omelette Rice (1,600 yen, tax included)" and ordered it.
The service time was over 20 minutes. It seemed to be a mother and son duo managing the operation. Finally, the tray arrived with the dish. Under the fluffy omelette, the neatly arranged eel was hidden. By cutting the omelette with a spoon and opening it to the sides, the completed omelette rice was revealed. I started eating. To describe it, it was like eel on top of omelette. The combination worked really well. Considering there are dishes like "unatama," it's no surprise that "eel and egg" go well together. The eel sauce-coated rice had chopped seaweed on top. The aroma of seaweed added a nice touch and enhanced the deliciousness.
The price of "Unaju" is 1,800 yen, so having an omelette on top for 1,600 yen feels like a good deal. Additionally, it came with miso soup and side dishes like lotus root, burdock, carrot simmered dish, simmered daikon radish, sweet and sour pickled Chinese cabbage, and pickles. Each side dish was well-prepared. If they were served during the waiting time, it would be great to snack on while waiting. The friendly shop owner mentioned that they also offer various izakaya menu items at night, making it sound like a fun place. I wish there was a shop like this near my home. Thank you for the meal.
