August 22 was the anniversary of my aunt's passing (paternal side). Every year, we would invite a Buddhist monk to perform a memorial service, but due to the pandemic, this year we kept it simple with just family members. I offered "Chidori Sabure," a snack that my aunt used to enjoy, at the family altar. I bought a pack of "Chidori Sabure - 4 pieces of Japanese lemon butter Chidori Sabure." I thought my uncle would eat it, but he said he couldn't finish it alone, so he accepted it as a gift. I tried the "Japanese lemon butter Chidori Sabure." Although it claims to have Japanese lemon butter, I couldn't really taste the lemon butter flavor. As I continued eating, I enjoyed the crispy texture of the Sabure, and it wasn't bad, but I was a bit disappointed. I haven't tried the regular "Chidori Sabure" before, so I can't compare the two flavors, but I would like to try a different Japanese confectionery next time. Thank you for the meal ☆

September 25, 2020 Purchase - Snack for one day. I went to AEON Izumi for errands and checked out the autumn wagashi at Chidoriya Soke. Chidoriya Soke also has two stores in Takatsuki. The chestnut-themed wagashi includes "Chestnut Daifuku" until September 26, "Horokuri Daifuku" from September 27 to November 5, "Steamed Chestnut Yokan" from October 1 to 31, "Mikasa" from October 19 to around March, and "Chestnut Mochi" from October 23 to 29. I bought the Chestnut Daifuku as a souvenir for my family. 6 pieces for ¥680. Soft mochi with chestnut and red bean paste. The chestnuts weren't as prominent as expected, but the red bean paste with a firm texture was rich and delicious. It's quite filling, so it's more of a substantial snack than just a tea treat.

Snack of the day. After having lunch at Pasta de Pasta in AEON Izumi, I bought a souvenir for my family at Chidoriya on the first floor. Nana-fun-tsubaki Spring Yomogi Mochi ¥530. Chidoriya is famous for its Chidori Manju. Their main products are long-lasting half-baked sweets and dried sweets for gifts. However, they also have seasonal fresh sweets, albeit in small quantities. One common sight during this season is Yomogi Mochi, usually in the form of Daifuku. What's unique about Chidoriya's Yomogi Mochi is that the rice grains are still visible, making it more like Ohagi than Daifuku. It has a strong Yomogi flavor, generous red bean paste, and a satisfying texture. It has a simple yet high-quality taste. I remember enjoying it a lot when I had it with the Sakura Green Tea I bought from Itoen before. It's a highly recommended snack for spring.
