I went on Saturday. Since it was before noon, there was only one other group. The old folk house had a nice atmosphere, and the service was polite with delicious food. The 2000 yen lunch was about 80% full, so I think it may not be enough for men. You can add udon or tofu (reservation required).

The other day, I went to "Suinawa Saryo" in Kurume City. It is a restaurant located in a traditional house dating back to the Azuchi-Momoyama period. Inside the restaurant, there are tatami rooms with sunken hearths, as well as a few table seats. The menu has recently changed to offer only two options. I ordered the Mountain Feast A (main meat dish for 2000 yen), Mountain Feast B (main fish dish for 2000 yen), bucket udon (300 yen), and chilled tofu (400 yen). I don't usually eat this kind of food, but eating in front of the sunken hearth was a nice experience. We made a reservation before going, and it was a good idea because they were turning away walk-in customers that day. Thank you for the delicious meal! ✨

Minou Saryo, located on the premises of Akai Otome Shuzo, was a place I had been curious about after seeing food photos on social media. I finally had the chance to visit. The restaurant is housed in a renovated old folk house, with a charming atmosphere. There are many tables, including those surrounding a hearth. Previously, they offered several set meals, including a limited 10-serving "tofu set," but starting in April, they have switched to offering one set meal option where you can choose between a meat or fish main dish for 2,000 yen (tax included). Payment is cash only. The meat option included fried chicken and ham topped with what seemed like roast beef, which was said to be delicious. The fish option featured sashimi and grilled mackerel, both of which were tasty. Both sets included a salad topped with chicken ham, a gentle-flavored dish of udo flowers, and almond tofu. The simmered dish had a rich flavor, and the multigrain rice portion was smaller, so I shared it with my husband. The miso soup included seaweed and had a good taste. The meal also came with coffee, allowing for a relaxing post-meal time. We enjoyed the carefully prepared, gentle-flavored dishes in the serene atmosphere. I made a reservation before visiting, and the service was very good. The staff at the restaurant were also polite and attentive. As it is a popular spot, I recommend making a reservation when planning to visit.

I purchased Rinsan's tofu at the Beni Otome Sake Brewery's store and then visited. Of course, it was limited to 10 servings, so I made a reservation before visiting. When the dishes were brought out, I couldn't help but exclaim "wow!" and I could hear the admiration from the table next to me. It's hard to prepare such a variety of dishes at home, so this meal was a real treat. The tofu was delicious too, and I left fully satisfied! The building was also a surprise, as it was a relocated structure from the Azuchi-Momoyama period.

I suddenly decided to go for a drive and have lunch at a place I was curious about, "Minou Saryo." I called to make a reservation and received a pleasant response that they had availability. The restaurant is located in the Chikugo region, surrounded by mountains known as the Minou Mountain Range. It is situated within the premises of the Beni Otome Sake Brewery's Minou Distillery. I was surprised to find that the restaurant is actually a traditional house with a thatched roof, built during the Azuchi-Momoyama period. Upon arrival at 11:30, I informed the staff of my reservation and chose a private tatami room. The building features a hearth and an earthen floor, giving it an old-fashioned charm. I had pre-ordered the "Tofu Meal" which is a limited menu available only on weekends, consisting of tofu sourced from a nearby tofu shop. The main dish, "Zaru Tofu," can be served either cold or warm. The cold tofu had a firm texture, while the warm tofu was soft and delicate. It was surprising to taste the difference in temperature. The meal also included traditional Japanese dishes made with high-quality ingredients. Although they offer the distillery's shochu to accompany the meal, I had to refrain from drinking as I was driving. Throughout the meal, several groups of customers arrived, but they were politely turned away by the staff due to the reservations. I recommend calling ahead even on the day of your visit. Overall, I enjoyed a mini-trip experience and a delicious meal. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I ordered a dessert set which included coffee, persimmon, sesame dumplings, and sweet red bean soup for 600 yen. I was able to enjoy a relaxing time in an old folk house with a hearth, listening to the view of the garden and background music. Next, I will try their meals.
