Secret Base JR Kokura Station Located 3 minutes walk from the Kokura Castle entrance, in a mixed-use building on the 2nd floor just before reaching Chuginn Street from the alley entrance near McDonald's and Lotteria. Lunch available only on Wednesdays from 12-2pm, with pub time in the evenings. No parking available, but coin parking nearby. It is operated as a workspace rental, but lunch is available only on Wednesdays. Look for the sign outside the stairs as a landmark. The exterior may give off an unclear impression of what is inside, but once you go up the stairs, you will find the entrance door. The interior features a large table, counter space, two-seater sofas, and group seating, creating a bright and casual atmosphere for communication among users. At the counter, inform them of your lunch order and make payment upfront. The menu consists of one dish only, with variations each day, typically priced at 700 yen, but may vary slightly. There are also drink options available with a wide selection of alcoholic beverages. A water server with orange-infused water is provided. The lunch set includes croquettes, chicken and burdock stew, simmered hijiki seaweed, pumpkin salad, miso soup, rice, and coffee. The croquettes are freshly fried and delicious, while the other dishes are equally satisfying with generous portions. The miso soup is packed with vegetables, and the rice is tasty. The coffee, served in a paper cup, is great for takeout. Overall, the homemade-style dishes are tasty and reasonably priced, making it a hidden gem. Although lunch is only available once a week, the establishment seems to focus on entrepreneurship and customer interaction rather than a typical restaurant. They also provide catering services for events like parties. It's an interesting place worth checking out.
