Today's recommendation is the hokke fry set meal! Unlike the usual breaded hokke fry, this one was fried like karaage, making the meat juicy and delicious. I enjoyed it with Shijimi soy sauce, which was a perfect match! Next time, I will try the salmon flake bowl and karaage!

The peak hours during the drift ice season were very crowded. I came to enjoy the kama-meshi, but it would take over 30 minutes, so I changed to grilled fish. I didn't feel the uniqueness of Abashiri (I don't know what makes Abashiri unique), but the staff were busy yet provided polite service. I will revisit during a quieter time.

The clam rice dish takes 20 minutes to cook, so I usually order something else. On a busy weekend afternoon, I decided to try the clam rice for the first time because I really wanted to eat it! I also ordered clam bibimbap. That day, there was an event featuring fresh clams from Yubetsu, so the clam dishes were discounted. The bibimbap came with cream and cheese that you can mix in while cooking to change the flavor. The clam rice came with broth that you can also adjust the flavor of while eating. Both dishes were incredibly delicious. Although the clams shrunk a bit during cooking, there were still plenty in the dish. Even after adjusting the flavor, they were still tasty. Towards the end, the clam rice became a bit salty, but it was still enjoyable. The dried tomatoes added a slightly sour accent to the dish. Apparently, clams and tomatoes are a good nutritional match. Overall, I was very satisfied.

Despite entering the store right before closing time, the staff kindly took our order. They even brought me a band-aid after I slipped and got injured in the unfamiliar snow outside. The scallop grilled on a hot plate and the seafood chirashi were delicious! I want to come back next time for the kamameshi revenge!

It is located near the Michi-no-Eki in Abashiri. There are several souvenir shops nearby. I planned to have seafood since it is a restaurant with a view of the sea, but they were really pushing the Shiretoko beef kamameshi, so I decided to try it. I enjoyed it while changing the taste with dashi soup along the way. The meat, needless to say, was truly melt-in-your-mouth quality. Next time, I would like to try seafood in the summer. The atmosphere and service of the restaurant were pleasant.

Food orders stop at 8 o'clock. I arrived before 8 o'clock and ordered everything I wanted to eat at once. I ordered individual items, such as scallops, oysters, octopus skewers, tsubu skewers, and marinated herring. These are for grilling. In addition, I also had grilled squid guts, seared rockfish sashimi, Shiretoko beef tataki, garlic shrimp, and more. The herring was impressive when I had it in a set meal, and it was really delicious. If you pay attention to the grilling, the octopus skewers and tsubu skewers are also soft and tasty. As someone who has been living in Okhotsk for a long time, I think they could put a little more effort into the oysters and scallops. Even though the scallops are small, they are delicious, and maybe it's just the right size considering the other items you can eat. As for the year-old oysters... when you grill them, they shrink and you can't really feel the firmness. The grilled squid guts were also delicious. Maybe the location here is not so good. It's good for tourists during the day, but maybe the locals find it a bit intimidating to come for dinner. Despite being delicious, it was very empty on weekend nights. It would be nice if this place could become a restaurant that locals can visit regularly.

On the second day of our trip to Hokkaido and Okhotsk, after enjoying a kayaking experience at Lake Abashiri, we had a delicious seafood lunch at the lovely restaurant "Robata To." We tried the special dish of the region, the rare and precious Ibaragani crab pot rice for 2500 yen. The crab flavor was rich and the rice was fluffy, with the tender Ibaragani crab melting in our mouths. We even made ochazuke with the remaining rice. The restaurant had a terrace with a stunning view of the Okhotsk Sea and Shiretoko. The staff were very kind and welcoming, making it a truly enjoyable dining experience. When you come to Abashiri, make sure to visit this place! Even if you come back to Abashiri next time, you must eat here. We ordered the kids' salmon ikura bowl, which was served with white rice. You can also order rice separately as a side dish for kids, like tarako or natto. This is so convenient! They also have kids' chairs, making it easy for families to dine in. The restaurant is located at Abashiri Ban'ya, where you can see the sea and even watch ships pass by from inside. During this season, you can enjoy your meal on the terrace. I had the kamameshi, which was so delicious. I enjoyed it twice, and the tea pickles with added dashi were irresistible. The scallops were very fresh, and the shijimi soy sauce featured on "Matsuko's Unknown World" was amazing. You can buy this soy sauce at Ouchide Dai Hokkaido or Imakono Shoten, so it's convenient to get souvenirs here. They also offer game meat dishes, and my daughter loved the deer meat dumplings, which were flavorful and delicious. I wonder if they sell just the deer dumplings separately – I forgot to ask. I even had seconds of the deer dumplings! You can also enjoy robatayaki dishes, and the restaurant is always busy with customers. The parking lot is spacious, making it camper-friendly. The famous glass shop next door offers glassmaking experiences for children, which is a great addition to your sightseeing trip.

It has been a long time since I visited Abashiri. Last time was five years ago in October when I came with my father who wanted to go to Hokkaido as a souvenir for the afterlife. We couldn't leave the next day as a typhoon hit, so we couldn't take the famous Shiretoko sightseeing boat. I promised myself to visit again someday, but it seems like it became a souvenir for the afterlife for real. Ghosts don't appear easily as they say. This time, in the snowy season, there's nothing better than having a seafood bowl with fresh seafood caught locally. The large, plump shrimp, ikura, octopus, scallops, all enjoyed with local sea ice beer in broad daylight. Of course, I couldn't miss the local Zangi, and the venison dumplings were a unique treat. I had a great time enjoying local specialties.

Opened on October 25, 2021, this restaurant seems like it will also open for dinner soon. It has table seating and a hearth where they can cook grilled dishes. It seems like ramen takes 10 minutes, grilled fish set takes 15 minutes, and kamameshi takes 20 minutes. I heard that kamameshi takes 20 minutes, so I opted for the set meal, but if it was only a 5-minute difference, I might have chosen kamameshi. I ordered the set meal with octopus and herring. The herring was a big hit. I'm not a big fan of mirin-dried fish, but this one was quite light and had a great fatty flavor. It was juicy and delicious. It was one whole fish. The bones were mostly removed, so it wasn't a concern. The octopus was half a piece, also juicy and delicious. The miso soup had clams in it, possibly locally sourced. All of this for 790 yen including tax, great value. I would love to come back when the fish is in season.

"The restaurant 'Akari' I visited the other day was under construction. I thought it had closed down, but it turns out they were just renovating. I heard that a new restaurant was opening, so I decided to check it out. I went alone because the person who told me about it wasn't available to join me. The new restaurant is located in the same building as the Glass Museum, which was built by the owner of the Glass Museum. The place was quite spacious and had a good vibe. I ordered the 'Shikatantanmen' even though I usually dislike deer meat. The noodles were thick and chewy, not my favorite, but the broth was flavorful. The portion size was just right for me, but might be too small for others. The broth had a slight hint of ginger, which added to the taste. Overall, the experience was pleasant, and I will definitely visit again in the future."

The interior of the restaurant was bright and beautiful! I went with my wife and 9-month-old child. The staff were friendly and kind, and they interacted with my child in a gentle manner, which made me happy. We had deer meat rice bowl, deer meat dumplings, and grilled skewers, all of which were delicious. My wife had the seafood rice bowl and was satisfied, although it was missing the salmon roe. The staff noticed and brought it to us. We had a seat with an ocean view near the sea.
