Visited "Tanno Shoten" on March 18th. Last visit was on December 24, 2022. This is my first visit this year. I always come here to buy seafood, dried goods, and dried fish. Today's main purpose was to buy "salmon flakes". My daughter requested me to buy "engawa" as well. They offer a variety of items depending on the season, making it fun to browse around. Today's rare items (didn't buy, sorry): - Gokko (male 350 yen, female 500 yen): Sometimes seen in supermarkets, but only for a short time. Unlike the dissected version, here they sell the whole fish. It's quite a task to dissect it, but gokko can be used almost entirely when made into soup. However, my wife vetoed this idea... too bad. - Hakkaku (small 300 yen, large 350 yen): Also occasionally seen in supermarkets, but this hakkaku is quite large. It's also quite affordable. But I always think it's hard to fillet... The usual way is "sliced into three pieces", but due to the shape of hakkaku, a lot of meat would be wasted, so they call it "daimyo cut". The first time I had it was grilled hakkaku. In the summer, when it's in season, we usually grill it at a camp, but it's a bit cold in Hokkaido in the early spring. - Kakashi bread from Okameya (370 yen): I was surprised to see bread from Okameya being sold here, and it was my first time meeting Baguette-chan on the bag. I think they didn't give me a bag when I bought it at Okameya... Was the bag sold separately? I heard that "Nijusan-ya Coffee Shop" near my house also sells it, so I used it once. Today's purchases: - Salmon flakes (1530 yen, 1350 yen): Sold by weight, but the unit price is unknown. I should have weighed it at home. We marinated it and had it for dinner, it was delicious. - Engawa (400 yen): Price and size-wise, it's a flounder. I've had it before, but this time it has less fat. I think this amount is just right and delicious. The crunchy texture and oily taste are exquisite. - Salmon scraps (450 yen): I forgot to take a picture, but I bought salmon scraps. We made miso soup with them at home. I still don't know if salmon eyeballs are delicious... Are they tasty? They're too hard. - Kazuchii (380 yen each, bought 3): Last time I visited, Kazuchii was also sold at 380 yen, and I thought it was a clearance price. But today, it's the same price, and it even has a fourth-anniversary version on the package. In other stores, it's over 500 yen, so why can they offer it at such a low price? I bought 3 packages as souvenirs for my daughter. The reason there are only 2 packages in the picture is because my wife ate one (laughs). There were also items like Matachi (small 650 yen, large 1200 yen), Hairy Crabs (3300 yen), and Hokkai Shrimp (2500 yen) that I didn't buy, but I was really torn about it. Thank you for the meal.
