京夏終空
Orihaku Kaikan, Kashio. When it starts to be promoted as a "Kyoto Deep Izakaya" on the internet, it ceases to be deep. Such restaurants are not originally meant to be promoted online, but they are already buried under a lot of information. Previously, I wrote about the "Kyoto Deep Izakaya" in a review of Sakata at Chinaka. I dare to correct one thing, if someone were to mention "Kyoto Deep Izakaya," places like "Rido Dining Street" or "Shitomikai Kan" would immediately come up, but that is considered a deep izakaya only to a few Kyoto locals or the younger generation of Kyoto locals, while for most outsiders, it is a deep izakaya, and for the people of this area in Kyoto, it is in Nishijin Kyogoku (part of Chinaka), and places like Kan'yuen in Shijo Omiya are more suitable to be called "deep izakaya." If a place like "Kamba" is introduced on a show like Bar Wanderings, its rating on Tabelog would immediately exceed 3.70. I do think that "Kamba" is a good place. However, no one pays attention to the real izakayas in the depths of Nishijin Kyogoku, just a 2-3 minute walk from there. It's too extreme, and somehow sad. The so-called Chinaka is not along Senbon Street, but deep in Nishijin Kyogoku, where the true essence of Showa-era deep izakayas lies... If I were to make one correction, places like Kan'yuen in Shijo Omiya or Orihaku Kaikan in Nishijin have more Osaka locals than Kyoto locals, so it may not be entirely considered "Kyoto Deep." I thought things would calm down once the Hankyu Express passes through, but what's the situation like now? That's Orihaku Kaikan in Nishijin. It was around the area opposite the "Sai" corridor. It was the middle of a drinking spree with a young man from Nishinokyo. Smoked dishes go well with sake, so I tried that. The classic, duck meat, Kin Toriyoshi? Clean and tender. Quail eggs, richer than chicken? Takuan, for me it's "takuwan," but opinions differ even in Kyoto. In terms of taste, it definitely reminds me of Iburi Gakko. And the essence of smoked dishes, octopus. This is delicious. Carefully smoked octopus. When you bite into it, the flavor oozes out, and the aroma escapes through your nose. The recommended beer at this place, Heartland, goes well with it. I also had one or two more dishes. It was just the right atmosphere, and I felt like I was treated with care. Not rowdy, like drunken shouting, but just the right amount of energy and calmness. Well, it will probably change drastically depending on the day and the clientele...
