At the Ecute Omiya event corner at Omiya Station, Kyorakudo was selling their products. While their Muscat of Alexandria mochi sweets "Hitotsubu no Muscat" seemed to be popular, I was drawn to their "Mochitoro Warabi Mochi." I bought it and sprinkled some kinako powder on top when I got home. The warabi mochi was soft and sticky, stretching well when scooped with a spoon. I could taste the richness of brown sugar, but it wasn't too sweet, and it paired well with the fragrant kinako powder. There was also a pudding with warabi mochi in the same section, but I wanted to enjoy more of the warabi mochi, so I think I made the right choice here.

I bought Muscat almond and Muscat warabi as a snack at my stay. It's the season of Muscat of Alexandria. I intended to only buy almond, but ended up purchasing warabi as well, which is in a size that can be eaten in one bite. I planned to eat them at night in the hotel, but ended up falling asleep and ate them in the morning instead. The almond is unexpectedly soft, so when I ate it, the base quickly crumbled. The Muscat has a gentle flavor, so it might be overshadowed by the almond. The warabi came with kinako, saying you can dip it if you like, but honestly, it doesn't really go well together. I thought about taking a bite and then dipping it, but warabi, or rather the Muscat wrapped in a thin skin, is better as it is.

I was drawn to the chestnut sweets and ended up buying a Mont Blanc daifuku and two chestnut warabi mochi. The Mont Blanc daifuku had cream and chunky sweet bean paste inside. The combination of chestnut paste and red bean paste was really good. The chestnut warabi mochi was more like chestnut paste covered in kudzu jelly than warabi mochi. The chestnut paste was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

"Oh? Looks like something interesting here." With that thought in mind, I decided to purchase tomato daifuku and strawberry mochi from this shop. This traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Hankyu Umeda, personally, I was aware of its existence as they also offer fruit daifuku, but I had never actually purchased anything from them before (mainly because I always bought fruit daifuku from my favorite shop nearby, "Isshindo," in Hankyu Umeda). I stopped by this shop this time because I was intrigued by a confectionery that I had never seen at other shops before. That's how I ended up buying "Hitotsubu no Otome no Namida" and "Hitotsubu no Ichigo Warabi." "Hitotsubu no Otome no Namida" is a daifuku made with a unique tomato called "Otome no Namida" from Kochi Prefecture, shaped like tears, wrapped in mochi. It was my first time trying a daifuku with a vegetable, in this case, a tomato. As instructed by the staff, I took a bite in one go (to prevent the juice from splattering), and I enjoyed the thick skin with a firm texture, different from a regular tomato, along with a refreshing and gentle sweetness. The "Otome no Namida" had a taste that was closer to a fruit with less greenness and acidity. On the other hand, "Hitotsubu no Ichigo Warabi" was a new product they had recently released, consisting of a whole strawberry wrapped in thin mochi along with strained sweet bean paste. While I had tried mochi wrapped in sweet bean paste before, I had never seen or heard of mochi wrapped in fresh fruit. Perhaps due to the subtle difference in texture between mochi and mochi, it left a unique impression, different from a regular strawberry daifuku. These confections come with kinako (roasted soybean flour), which is common with mochi, but personally, I felt that they were delicious even without it. I did not confirm how long they will be offering the tomato daifuku and strawberry mochi, but if you come across them, I recommend giving them a try.

I purchased chocolates at "La Maison Du Chocolat Umeda Hankyu Store" on the same floor as "Kyoraudo Hankyu Umeda Main Store," but I couldn't buy enough, so I added "Hokuhoku Kuri." As the name suggests, it had a fluffy texture and I could taste the natural sweetness of chestnuts. It also had small pieces of chestnuts, providing a different texture and making it enjoyable to eat. Thank you for the meal.

In the basement of Hankyu department store, you can find a stylish tomato snack called "Maiden's Tears (Sweetia)" from Kochi Prefecture. It is a confection made by wrapping the tomato "Maiden's Tears," which has a sweetness close to fruit with little bitterness and acidity, in gyuhi (soft rice cake). Each piece is carefully hand-wrapped, offering a unique texture different from traditional tomatoes due to its thick and firm skin. The harmony between the dessert-like "Maiden's Tears (Sweetia)" and the gentle sweetness of gyuhi makes it a seasonal limited edition treat. This rare confection from Kyorakudo, known for its muscat grapes, is made with ingredients such as tomato, sugar, mochi flour, and mizuame (starch syrup). It is best enjoyed at room temperature and offers a balance of sweet tomato flavor with a hint of acidity. A box of four pieces is priced at 1000 yen.

"Hokuhoku kuri" and "hitotsubu no shion" are delicious. They are quite expensive, around 300 yen each, but tasty. Kyourakudou is famous for its "hitotsubu no muscat," which is a classic favorite. However, their winter grape "shion" is also very delicious. (Photo from Kyourakudou's website)

At the "Kyorakudo" store in Hankyu Department Store Umeda, I bought a pack of four muscat grapes for 1,080 yen. They look just like muscat grapes. It's a luxurious snack with four pieces. The muscat grapes are wrapped in a thin layer of mochi, and the inside is fresh and juicy, very delicious.

The sweetness of the mizuame and the acidity of the muscat grapes complement each other perfectly, enhancing the deliciousness.

"One grape muscat" The sweet bean paste is light so it doesn't stand out much, giving you the feeling of eating the grape itself ★"

When I went back to my hometown, my mother couldn't forget the dessert she received a few years ago... It was a sweet made with whole muscat grapes and it was incredibly delicious... My sister bought some Land Pearls from Gokichi Tea House, but she said they were tasty but not the same as the ones we had before... So I tried to order some online, but then I found out they have a store at Umeda Hankyu Department Store, so I decided to go buy some. They had samples available and they were delicious, so I bought a pack of 4 for myself (1080 yen) and a pack of 12 for my family (3240 yen). However, my mother later told me that it was similar to the ones my sister bought recently... This made me wonder which muscat dessert my mother couldn't forget and also raised doubts about her memory. I tried them myself and they were good, but considering the high price, I don't think I would buy them regularly for myself. Of course, receiving them as a gift is always nice... My sister personally thinks that the Land Pearls from Gokichi Tea House are tastier.

I came to Umeda and visited Kyorakudo. They had delicious autumn chestnuts for 270 yen including tax. When you eat it, you'll experience a smooth texture with the flavor of chestnuts, along with the richness of butter and cream. The sweetness is also satisfying. However, it's a bit pricey. Thank you for the meal! Release date: October 2015. Nankaihawks1's Gourmet Guide. Nankaihawks1's blog: http://hawks1.exblog.jp/

While wandering around the basement of Hankyu Umeda looking for a gift box of sweets, I encountered someone who offered me a sample. It looked exactly like a muscat grape. Wait, is this a candy? A sugar sculpture? I was intrigued by its appearance, but when I took a bite... it was delicious! It's a muscat grape! The juicy fruit is wrapped in a chewy skin, making it a luxurious treat. Each grape costs 250 yen before tax, adding to the indulgent experience. And it stays fresh for a week, just like a real fruit.

Continuing with Osaka souvenirs. My family and daughter bought dorayaki and monaka at Kintetsu Department Store, then went to Hankyu Umeda Department Store for more shopping... and ended up buying this souvenir!! The prices were so different!! But I couldn't say anything (lol). As usual, we shopped at the basement floor of the department store. What caught our eye immediately was this strawberry daifuku. It certainly stands out. It seems that the current trend for strawberry daifuku is to have the strawberry on top of the daifuku rather than inside. The strawberry on top is from Fukuoka's "Amaou" variety, red, round, large, and delicious... Indeed, just having this strawberry on top is a pass!! We tried it right away. The strawberry is truly "Amaou" as the name suggests!! The daifuku and strawberry are almost the same size!! The sweetness of the daifuku is mild. The mochi (sweet rice cake) is soft and moist. The filling is smooth red bean paste! I usually prefer chunky red bean paste, but maybe smooth red bean paste is better for strawberry daifuku? We bought it often!! Some wasteful spending is inevitable!!... right? Thank you for the meal.

Sweets reporter Chihiro here. Thank you for visiting. I got the Daioichigo Daifuku at Kyorakudo in Hankyu Umeda.
- Daioichigo Daifuku (399 yen)
This strawberry daifuku uses amaou strawberries. A super large amaou strawberry is placed on top of the daifuku! The mochi is chewy, with a nice melt-in-your-mouth texture and a gentle sweetness from the red bean paste. The strawberry was juicy and chunky, so big that you can't fit it all in one bite. The red bean paste was elegant, making this a popular sweet for the upcoming season. If you want to try a luxurious strawberry daifuku, be sure to check this out. Amaou strawberries are a must-have for sweets like this!

I was looking for a snack that I could enjoy in small quantities, and I happened to come across something I had seen on TV at Hankyu Department Store. I was a bit hesitant because I might end up being convinced to buy it, but I was intrigued so I approached the store (lol). What I found there was a single grape☆ I tried a sample of a half-cut one, and it was even more delicious than I had expected ( ´艸`) Furthermore, I also tried a sample of a single piece of Pione grape, and it was delicious too ♡ At that time, I ended up only buying one of each, but I couldn't resist wanting more ( ´艸`) Next time, I want to buy a pack of 8 pieces of each, including souvenirs ♡

I had a reason to go to Osaka, so I was walking around Hankyu while I was there, and I was offered a sample to try. I ate it as I was told, and I was surprised! The good smell of chestnuts, the perfect sweetness, and the gentle texture, it's indescribable, a taste that lingers. It's so delicious! I ended up buying it without thinking. When I got home and looked at the ingredients, it only listed "chestnuts, sugar, fresh cream, butter, egg yolk, milk", with no additives. It makes sense. No wonder the taste lingers. I wish I had bought more. I have a little regret. Normally, many of the foods we eat contain various additives, but it seems that the body naturally understands when we eat natural foods. Hokuhoku chestnuts seem to be a limited-time item, but it was really good that I happened to be walking by and was offered a sample. It's a great treat that I'm glad I encountered. When I go back to Osaka, I would like to try a different treat from here.
