This is a seafood processing food shop in the Taste Alley corner of Seibu Ikebukuro Department Store, which is shaking due to the sale to a fund and conversion to Yodobashi. When I passed by on a weekend in Ikebukuro, I saw a sign that they would be selling King Salmon miso pickles starting at 1 pm on Saturdays. The salmon dishes at Kajimaya are delicious, but they are expensive so I rarely buy them unless there is a special occasion. I went back later after looking around other places until the designated time. However, the food floor is large, so even though I had passed by once, it was quite difficult to find the shop again. It was only after asking at the information desk that I remembered it was in a corner of Taste Alley. The King Salmon miso pickles come with two small pieces for 1300 yen (tax included). I also bought a bag of Niigata specialty "Yamakai-zuke" with vegetables and shiokara for 540 yen. The King Salmon miso pickles I ate at home were delicious. However, if it's the same King Salmon, I might prefer the Kyoto Kasuzuke from Ningyocho Uogu. Uogu uses New Zealand farmed salmon, while Kajimaya uses wild Alaskan salmon if I remember correctly. The difference in taste may be due to the way they are pickled. What was actually a hit this time was the Yamakai-zuke. The amount and quality of shiokara in it are different from what you find in supermarkets, and the price is not that different. If you see it, I recommend buying it. Nevertheless, the structure of the basement of Seibu Ikebukuro is complex and confusing. I am against converting it to Yodobashi at this point, but I hope they will tidy it up a bit more.

I have been selling "King Salmon Croquettes" recently. It is unclear if they are sold every day. The frozen product seems to be the main item, but there are also freshly fried croquettes available. The croquettes with a fox-like color are displayed in large quantities in the showcase. I purchased a 5-piece pack of "King Salmon Croquettes" for 800 yen excluding tax, which was placed in a white box labeled "Kashimaya's side dishes". They are made with Hokkaido potatoes, onions, and Russian salmon, and they are quite delicious. It would be nice if they also had the main store's "King Salmon Fry". Next to the croquettes, there is also Uonuma-grown new rice, showing the business spirit of Kashimaya.

There are many bottled salmon flakes in the world, but the salmon tea pickles from Niigata Kashimaya are still the most delicious in my opinion. Being authentic is definitely a contributing factor, but the cooking method is also completely different. The cheapest salmon flakes in a bottle can be bought at a 100-yen shop, but of course, Kashimaya's products are not cheap. However, their value is more than worth it, which is why they are long-time bestsellers. They are often eaten with hot rice or rice balls. It's rare to have them with tea pickles. Doesn't it feel like a waste? For tea pickles, even cheap ones or dried ones would suffice. Also, the salmon roe soy sauce pickles are exquisite. They are best enjoyed piled on top of freshly cooked, hot rice. It's like being able to taste the deliciousness of the production area without having to go to Niigata or Hokkaido. The scallop simmered in soy sauce is also delicious. It's already tasty on its own, but if you use a whole bottle to cook mixed rice, it becomes incredibly delicious. Add some chicken for a meaty flavor, mix the umami of inosinic acid and glutamic acid from the fish stock, and the taste will be doubled or tripled. That's Niigata Kashimaya for you. I really want to visit Niigata again.

"My wife bought this freshly made dish because she said there was a long line for it! It was sold at the kitchen in the department store basement. Although I don't usually comment on side dishes, this one was delicious, so I'll make a note of it. It was a dish made by simmering salmon and rolling it up with kelp. The salmon was cooked perfectly, easily falling off the bone, and tasted great. The refreshing umami flavor of the salmon, simmered to perfection, combined with the kelp wrapping, made it irresistible. It was quite salty, so it's best enjoyed as a side dish with rice. For breakfast, pairing it with rice and miso soup would make a delicious meal."

Received a gift set from Niigata Kashimaya, a seafood processing company. Despite being consumed in December 2013 due to certain circumstances, I am posting this review as a memo. The freshness of the review is outdated, but I will update it promptly. At that time, the prices were based on the current ones listed on the online shop. Here is the review of the items we tried:
- Salmon Tea Pickles: A signature product of Kashimaya made with king salmon, perfect as a side dish for rice or for a luxurious ochazuke. (¥1836)
- Soy Sauce Marinated Salmon Roe: Our salmon roe-loving child enjoyed this a lot, and the parents also found it delicious when eaten with rice. (¥2160)
- Capelin Roe Beshiko Pickles: There is a large bottle priced at ¥2700, but the smaller bottle is currently unavailable, so the price is unknown.
- Miso Marinated Cod: Fatty cod marinated in miso, best enjoyed by grilling carefully to avoid burning. (¥648)
- Miso Kasuzuke Cod: Cod marinated in sake lees, a common dish with marinated fish. (¥648)
- Salmon Trout Kasuzuke: Soft and fatty salmon trout marinated in sake lees, a blissful treat. (¥648)
- Matsumae Pickles: A great snack to accompany alcohol, consumed quickly. (¥648)
- Squid Red Pickles: Traditional salted squid that brings out the sweetness of the squid as you chew. Perfect with rice or alcohol. (¥432)
We received a delicious gift that our family enjoyed and savored. It's great to be able to share this experience. Thank you for the meal.

Revisited Kajimaya in the B1 area of Seibu Ikebukuro South Exit in March 2010. I bought some special event products from the temporary sales area next to the store the other day, but today I purchased their regular items. Salmon tea rice topping \1100 and squid miso pickles \400 (both excluding tax). The classic salmon tea rice topping is made from king salmon that is grilled and shredded. It is very fatty and delicious, I enjoy it not only on tea rice but also on plain rice or in onigiri. I sometimes send bottled salmon tea rice topping as a year-end gift, and it is always well-received. The taste of squid miso pickles that I learned in Hokkaido. Squid is marinated in soy sauce, green chili pepper, and rice malt for a year. It has a slightly sweet flavor and can be enjoyed as a snack or a side dish with rice. It had been a while since I had salmon tea rice topping, and it was still delicious! It has a moist and refined taste that is completely different from the salmon flakes sold in supermarkets. Today, there was a small event being held next to the store. It will be until March 2nd, so if you have the chance, please visit. In addition to the regular packaged and bottled products, there were some new products that I had never seen before, so I decided to try them out. Moreover, they were available in small quantities at affordable prices. Grilled spicy cod roe \600, grilled tarako \500, and king salmon pickled in soy sauce \340, all excluding tax. According to their website, you can also have a king salmon pickled in soy sauce bowl at the tea shop on the 2nd floor of the main store – it looks so delicious with all that fat. I tried the grilled tarako, and as a fan of semi-raw grilled tarako, I found it to be delicious! It is perfectly cooked through but still slightly moist, making it a great match for rice or as a side dish for alcohol. Maybe they are just really good at seasoning. However, the salmon tea rice topping is a bit pricey even for a 100g pack at \1155, so I wouldn't buy it without a special occasion... But it's really delicious, you know~

The basement floor of Seibu Department Store Ikebukuro Main Store has a sales booth for "Niigata Kajimaya". The booth is of a decent size, similar to the adjacent "Uokyu". This time, I requested delivery and chose the bottled set of sake tea pickles, ikura soy sauce pickles, and simmered scallops, known as the 3-G set. It is a set of Kajimaya's signature products! Then, I noticed that there is "Salmon Miso Pickled Cut" available from 1 pm. It is a combination of Nordic salmon and Echigo miso, very delicious. I thought that Kajimaya's cut-offs were only sold at the Niigata Exhibition held at Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi near the end of the year, but it seems different. The cut-offs are perfect for bento box side dishes or onigiri fillings, and I was impressed by the price of 540 yen including tax!

In mid-January 2022, I used a gift to enjoy a bottle of Niigata Kashimaya salmon tea pickles. At first, I was skeptical about the product name, but after trying it, I was blown away by its exquisite taste. The pickles had a refined taste, with a moist texture and a subtle flavor of flaked salmon. It was so delicious that I couldn't help but rave about it to my wife. The pickles were a bit pricey, but definitely worth it for the quality. I would recommend it as a thoughtful gift for someone special. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Introducing a variety of assortments from Niigata's Kajimaya. Each product is sophisticated and delicious, with a refined taste. The products have a relatively short shelf life, indicating that they are free from additives and preservatives. The salmon is particularly praised for its delicious taste, but other items such as squid in red sauce, spicy cod roe, and thinly sliced pickled turnips are also delicious. The miso-grilled salmon flakes are moist and flavorful, perfect with fluffy rice. The salmon tea pickles have a strong salty taste and go well with both rice and alcohol. The spicy cod roe onigiri has a rich bonito flavor and a satisfying texture. The squid in red sauce is elegant and pairs well with dry sake. The thinly sliced pickled turnips have a crispy texture and a unique taste. Kajimaya's products are elegant and flavorful, highlighting the natural taste of the ingredients with a touch of broth. They are perfect for enjoying a taste of Japanese cuisine in small portions at home.
