I visited during the daytime on a holiday. The location is near the center of the Shinkansen ticket gate underpass at Shin-Osaka Station (to the right when entering from the central exit). The name of the store on this site is inexplicably listed as "Delica Station," but the official name (according to the receipt) is "(Kabu) JR Tokai Passengers Shin-Osaka Delica Station Central." I wish they would at least include "Central" in the name for clarity (New Yokohama Station is detailed in the description, so it's frustrating). The lack of consistency is evident. There are many similar stores in this concourse. Among them, this store specializes in bento boxes (including drinks). Today, I am returning from Osaka to Kanagawa. It's lunchtime on the Shinkansen. Before that, I bought a bento here. I purchased the Uzumasa Location Bento for 1,080 yen from the bento boxes displayed outwardly (similar to a supermarket or convenience store display). It is a bento box in the style of a location bento made by Kabushiki Kaisha Kyohayashi (trading as "Local Bento Hokusa"). The naming is important. It caught my eye somehow. And the price was reasonable. The first Shinkansen arrives a little early. I entered the well-air-conditioned train and enjoyed it immediately. According to trivia, "This is a famous bento box made by Hokusa, specially made as a custom bento box at the request of a famous actor. It contains a variety of colorful side dishes such as salted mackerel, eel, fried chicken, and simmered dishes, and is one of Hokusa's famous bento boxes often featured in TV shows and magazines." Whether this is true or not, it sounds like a good story. However, this bento box was well-made, and I was impressed. The way the rice was packed and the simplicity (elegance) of the side dishes were excellent. Bento box rice is often packed tightly, but this one was fluffy and easy to eat. The main dish was salt-grilled mackerel, which was also delicious. The simmered dishes and tamagoyaki were elegantly seasoned, leaving me feeling satisfied at about 80% full. All this for around 1,000 yen. I felt much more satisfied than with expensive bento boxes that include luxurious-looking items. It was a satisfying meal.

As the Shinkansen approaches its final stop, the prices become half off. It's really helpful. I can buy a bento and beer, and relax. Lately, I've been going on day trips more often, so this is a big help. Staying overnight is tiring. Being able to sleep at home is a big plus. I will continue to rely on this in the future.

Station bento club activity night shift! "WEST EXPRESS Galaxy Hyogo Gokoku Sakana Bento @ Shin-Osaka Station Delica Station" The name, packaging, and contents don't seem to match (lol). Although it's called a bento, there's hardly any rice in it, and it's mostly a box of snacks for drinking. It went well with beer and was delicious. ⭐( ̄∇ ̄*)ゞ

Shinkansen Breakfast Review: On this day, I was returning to Hiroshima for a memorial service. I had a bit too much to drink at a soba restaurant the night before, so I was feeling a bit hungover. Despite that, I was hungry, so I decided to have a light breakfast on the Shinkansen. I visited "DELICASTATION Shin-Osaka Central" inside Shin-Osaka Station on the JR Tokaido Shinkansen line. There were many delicious bento boxes and sandwiches to choose from, but I found what I was looking for! I tried the "Furusato no Aji Toncho" from Gokasho by Gashi, priced at 378 yen for one. I enjoyed it with a Suntory Kakuhai Highball on the Shinkansen. The "Toncho" is made with white steamed rice mixed with domestic soybeans and two types of kelp from a traditional kelp shop in Osaka. It has a nostalgic taste from 50 years ago, with the recipe remaining the same. It's a delightful combination of rice, soybeans, and salted kelp, with a crispy domestic plum adding a nice touch. It was delicious! Highly recommended! "DELICASTATION Shin-Osaka Central" is located at Nishi-Nakajima 5-16-1, Yodogawa-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture. Phone: 0120-596-010. Opening hours: 5:45 am - 10:00 pm. Closed on no specific days. Completely smoke-free. No parking available. Take the train to JR Tokaido Main Line Shin-Osaka Katsura Shinkansen ticket gate.

This is my first time in Hiroshima this season. I had a light breakfast before leaving home, but when I saw the bento shop, my stomach started growling! So, I decided to get something here, right in the center of the Shinkansen ticket gate. Soft Pork Cutlet Sandwich - 690 yen The thick cutlet is really soft and delicious. The name is not deceiving at all. The slightly sweet sauce has a spicy kick in the aftertaste, making it a perfect match for a highball or lemon chu-hi. It may not be filling enough for lunch, but it's just right for breakfast or a snack with 3 slices. I easily finished it before arriving at Shin-Kobe from Shin-Osaka. The egg sandwich also looked delicious, so I might try that next time.

Located right in the middle of the Shinkansen concourse, this bento shop is open early in the morning and very convenient. They offer a wide variety of items, so it's always busy, but the service is quick and efficient, making it easy to make a purchase. Their specialty is the "Naniwa-packed bento," featuring two large takoyaki balls! A clash of carbohydrates - this is Osaka!

I decided on the "Seafood Feast for 1,000 yen" at Shinagawa Station on my way back from Shin-Osaka to Shin-Yamaguchi. This bento box is filled with scallops, clams, asari clams, shijimi clams, and scallop adductors on a bed of rice. It's a simple yet luxurious bento box with a focus on various types of shellfish. The side dishes like tamagoyaki are kept to a minimum, allowing you to fully enjoy the rich flavors of the shellfish. It could also double as a great snack and would pair well with sake. I learned that Shinagawa is known for its shellfish, and I had a great dining experience. Thank you for the meal!

I purchased a light meal for the train ride at the JR Shin-Osaka Station, inside the Shinkansen ticket gate area. They had a variety of bento boxes, sandwiches, and onigiri displayed on the shelves. I chose a breakfast onigiri bento and also got a bottle of Asahi Super Dry. The contents of the bento were good with two onigiri and a small side dish. It didn't produce any strong smells, making it suitable for eating on the train. The price was also reasonable. Overall, it was a satisfying meal! This Delica Station is not only available in the concourse I used, but also on various platforms depending on your destination.

Today, I had a day trip to Kyushu. I took the 7:53 am Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka. I tried the "Hire Katsu Sandwich" from Delica Station. It costs 422 yen including tax and comes with three pieces. The shop also provides wet towels, which are placed inside the box of the sandwich. It may not be incredibly delicious, but it is still tasty. The consistent taste is what makes it special. Being able to enjoy the expected taste every time is amazing. I finished it quickly. Thank you for the meal!

When transferring to a Shinkansen at Shin-Osaka, I decided to purchase a bento box at Delica Station inside the ticket gates. Despite having only 10 minutes to spare, I had plenty of time to choose. After careful consideration, I selected the persimmon leaf sushi set, which included a mix of mackerel and salmon sushi and a can of beer. I enjoyed the bento box on the Shinkansen. Upon opening it, I found a leaflet with instructions on how to eat the persimmon leaf sushi. It advised to pick up the sushi with the leaf instead of chopsticks, not to use soy sauce, and to savor the aroma of the leaf. The sushi's origin dates back to the ancient Saba Kaido road connecting Yoshino and Kumano, and it is considered a taste of the hometown along the Kumano Kodo trail. The persimmon leaf used to wrap the sushi is large and thick, reminiscent of the texture and scent experienced when eating kashiwa mochi. The mackerel slices were very thin, likely to enhance the aging process of the fish. The combination of vinegared rice and mackerel was delicious. The salmon slices were thicker compared to the mackerel, similar to sushi from Toyama. Opening the leaf revealed the sushi, although slightly challenging to eat, the experience of using the leaf added a touch of elegance. Overall, it was a delicious bento box. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived at Shin-Osaka station early for my Tokyo business trip today, so I cancelled my reserved train and switched to a train I could board right away. I had a tight schedule to buy a bento box to enjoy on the Shinkansen. I quickly purchased a "Chicken Teriyaki Bento" from the Deli Station on platform 25 as the Shinkansen I was supposed to board was arriving. The bento consisted of teriyaki chicken on a bed of rice with minced chicken and egg on top, accompanied by boiled vegetables and potato salad. It was a filling and delicious meal, and I felt the value for money was great. After eating, I started feeling sleepy, but that's all part of the fun of traveling. I wonder what I'll have next time.

It's been a while since I visited Kagoshima to see my grandparents, RYU here! I took the Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka Station to Izumi Station, a 4-hour journey. By the time I arrive at my grandparents' house in Akune City, the sun may have already set. To avoid inconveniencing my 84-year-old grandmother, I called ahead and told her not to prepare anything as I would buy dinner on the way. The perfect travel companion? A bento box, of course! Inside Shin-Osaka Station's ticket gates is "Delica Station," where a variety of bento boxes are displayed, with multiple people always choosing their travel companions. Among them, I found something I recently discovered to be delicious - kakinoha sushi. So, I bought the kakinoha sushi and headed to my grandparents' house after the Shinkansen and car ride. When I arrived, the front door was ajar, a common practice here but not in the city. Typically, my grandmother would greet me, but this time there was no response. I cautiously entered and found my grandparents engrossed in watching sumo on TV. I greeted my grandmother, who was surprised and joked that she wouldn't even notice a thief entering. After presenting the souvenirs, my grandmother immediately offered them to the family altar. I also paid my respects by lighting incense. After catching up, it was time to enjoy the bento box I bought. I got kakinoha sushi from "Wizasa" or maybe "Nakatani Honpo." I intended to buy a different variety, but ended up with mackerel and salmon instead of shrimp and sea bream. Despite the mix-up, the kakinoha sushi was delicious - mild flavors, gentle acidity, and elegant leaf aroma. It's a great choice for those who are new to kakinoha sushi or prefer milder flavors. The Kagoshima dialect is so soothing and nostalgic. It's like my Kagoshima roots are reacting on a DNA level. Such a heartwarming feeling. Thank you for the meal.

Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box for 890 yen from JR Tokai Passengers. The lid says "Two deliciousness that chicken lovers can't resist." It includes chicken teriyaki, chicken mince, egg mince, simmered vegetables (carrot, taro, shiitake mushrooms, fuki), and potato salad. The bento box is filled with rice topped with chicken mince and egg mince, with four pieces of chicken teriyaki on top. A generous and satisfying meal. Also, enjoyed a bottle of water with Tigers mascot "Trucky" on it.

When traveling back to Tokyo from Shin-Osaka on the Shinkansen, even if you're full, it's still nice to have some alcohol and snacks to enjoy the 2.5-hour journey. I usually go for beer, but this time I found a small bottle of white wine at the Delica Station on platform 26 where the Tokyo-bound Shinkansen departs. It was a nice change from beer. I also got a luxurious coarse ground salami for snacks. After passing through the busy Kyoto Station, I enjoyed the combination of coarse ground salami and white wine. It was really good. The salami came in a pack of four pieces, each about 5 cm long, but one more piece would have made it even more luxurious. However, I think the amount of wine was just right.

On a sunny day in July 2019, I entered the ticket gate at Shin-Osaka Station to catch a Shinkansen. As I walked, I spotted a bento shop. They had a variety of bento boxes, and I decided to buy the Tokaido Meat Feast for 1210 yen. It seemed to be made by JR Tokai Bus Passengers. It included Osaka sukiyaki, Nagoya miso katsu, and Tokyo yakitori in a bowl. The sukiyaki had shirataki noodles and pickled ginger, giving it a gyudon-like taste. The sweet taste of the miso katsu with hachimitsu miso was delightful, and the tamagoyaki was well done. The yakitori had tsukune meatballs and the sauce was deliciously soaked in. Each dish had its own unique touch, perfect for those who want to try a variety of flavors. While the bento may seem a bit pricey, I think it's essential for fully enjoying your journey. Since I'm not cycling this time, I also indulged in a canned beer. What are your must-haves for a trip? Any recommended bento boxes? Thank you for the meal! (^ . ^) (-.-) (__)

Today, we're going on a field trip together! We're meeting at 6:30 in Shin-Osaka! We're heading to the famous ○○○ restaurant known for their persuasion meals. ○suki-san wasted no time in buying beer! And not just any beer, a 500ml selection first thing in the morning! Truly living up to the charming ladies' character! Everyone followed suit and charged up with alcohol at Toribee. We needed some snacks, right? So we got some cutlet sandwiches to share. I took a bite, and it tasted like a cutlet sandwich with sauce flavor! Now, let's head to our destination!

Kansai Flavor Bento Box ¥980- I made a mistake in choosing a bento box last time, so this time I made sure to check both the price and the contents carefully! It seems like they really packed a lot in this one. I chose this one because it's packed with goodies (^^) If the entrance to Kinki/Kansai is Shin-Osaka Station, is this a good choice? The meat is from Shiga, not Kobe. Choosing menchi-katsu to prevent the meat from becoming cold and tough was the right decision. I can feel the dedication and variety of carefully chosen items in this bento box (^^) Thanks for the meal.

Inside the JR Shin-Osaka Station Shinkansen ticket gate, there is a shop called "Delica Station" which is part of the JR Tokai Group, with roots tracing back to the "Nippon Shokudo" which used to operate dining cars for Japan National Railways. Despite facing competition from other group companies within the closed space of the ticket gate area, Delica Station has two stores in operation. The flagship store is located in the center of the Shinkansen ticket gate concourse, strategically positioned with a wide range of bento boxes, drinks, and sandwiches displayed on all sides of the large store, leaving no blind spots. This massive bento-selling machine dominates the station premises with its extensive lineup and overwhelming quantity, specialized in selling bento boxes. However, it is limited to JR Tokai Group's bento boxes, and there are issues with taste and cost performance, neglecting local bento companies. Personally, I prefer purchasing bento boxes at JR West Japan's conventional line ticket gates due to these reasons. Nevertheless, I decided to see if there was any bento that caught my interest. I bought the "Tokaido Shinkansen Bento," a bento box that combines the flavors of various regions along the Tokaido Shinkansen route. While I believe the pricing is quite competitive for a JR Tokai Group product, I think they should put more effort into improving the contents.

Genre: Station bento, light meal, takeout Area: Inside Shin-Osaka Station Access: Inside Shin-Osaka Station Parking: Available Credit card payment: Possible Number of uses: First time Number of reviews: 1st review Just one more push until the end of forced labor. Haha, let's avoid using such expressions. I was heading back north on the Shinkansen and wanted to grab dinner before that, but I was short on time. So, I decided to stop by "Delica Station." Exterior and interior: Shiny and brightly lit, with a white-based design that really stands out. Seating: Takeout only, so there are no seats. Menu: Mainly focused on station bentos, sandwiches, drinks, etc. There were over 20 types of station bentos available. I ordered the following: - Generous Egg Sandwich (530 yen) → including tax. I ended up choosing this safe option because by this late hour, almost everything else was sold out. The bread was soft, the eggs were not too finely chopped or too large, and there was ham included as well. It's more of a standard type of sandwich, perfect for when you're feeling a bit peckish. Strong points: It's great that you can quickly grab takeout and eat it on the Shinkansen! Plus, the variety of station bentos is a big plus. Service: Just average. Overall: It's been a while since I visited Osaka, and even then, I didn't get to do any sightseeing in the prefecture. Well, my main purpose was to visit USJ, so it can't be helped. But I was really surprised by how dominant Tabelog is! Sorry for getting off track, but there was a new area in front of the Shinkansen ticket gates at Shin-Osaka Station. It was bustling with various bento shops, and this shop was also working hard to compete. I hope they continue to thrive. Thank you for the meal.

Hello, this is Okura. I have arrived at Shin-Osaka Station. Well, saying that I arrived is a bit funny, because I am actually heading to Tokyo now. I am going to a gathering called Meshi-tsu no Shaon-kai, or study session, or drinking party, whatever you want to call it. So, I am heading to Tokyo to participate in that gathering. Speaking of trains, there are ekiben (train station bento), so I bought one at the beginning of my journey at Shin-Osaka Delica Station. First, cheers! This time, I bought the Mentaiko Gyutan Donburi from Yamaya, which was around 1380 yen. And also the Uni to Unidon flavor comparison bento, which was around 1100 yen. The Mentaiko was delicious as expected. The gyutan was, well, more on the tasty side. Eating on the train really enhances the deliciousness. The Uni was best in the middle. I also enjoyed some Osaka-style appetizers while drinking beer. Ah, train travel is so nice, being able to drink beer.
