A shop quietly standing on the first floor of a mixed-use building. The chef and a familiar waitress were running the place. We visited without a reservation and ordered a sashimi platter, simmered fish, grilled fish, rolled omelette, sushi rolls, and soup. Everything was very meticulous, and I felt that the quality was high for the cost. I hope it doesn't get overrun by foreign tourists...

After finishing my business in Nishiki, I wandered around the market and shopping street. The restaurant is located on the first floor of a building in the drinking district entered from the Karasuma-dori Barubiru. I started with a glass of beer and enjoyed it with sesame-dressed green beans. Sashimi assortment... turban shell, Spanish mackerel tataki, flounder, horse mackerel, bonito, red snapper, octopus, young bluefin tuna... Conger eel tempura... Crispy and fluffy, delicious red snapper head soup... A big red snapper♪ Okara, grilled whole squid, fox grilled skewers, three types of sake, all deliciously enjoyed.

I wanted to eat fish, so I looked around the area and found good reviews, so I visited. It's located in a hidden place that is not easy to enter at first glance. I ordered a sashimi platter, morokyu (cucumber and seaweed salad), rolled omelette, horse mackerel fish balls, grilled halfbeak, and hokke (Okhotsk atka mackerel). They all had generous portions and the taste was top-notch. Especially the hokke was firm and I had a good quality one. They also had a good selection of sake, so I want to come back soon.

The dishes only consisted of fish and vegetables, but I was very satisfied. The sashimi was excellent, and it was a rare treat to have fugu. They even had unusual dishes like eel liver. I would love to come back again! Due to the impact of COVID-19, there were fewer customers, so I can't say how it is normally.

Upon arriving for the first round at 6:00 PM, there were about 8 seats at the counter. The atmosphere was calm with a view from the back of the counter. They timely asked if we needed more drinks as they were running low. The fish was as good as the reviews said, and I haven't been this satisfied with a sashimi platter in a long time. The location in Kyoto city was also surprising. The tempura and other dishes were carefully made, providing a pleasant dining experience. Since we didn't drink alcohol, the bill was reasonable. I think it's a place suitable for couples, spouses, or friends in any situation.

I walked quite a bit from Hankyu Kawaramachi Station, but Kyoto Sanjo Station is a more convenient location. We used it for a party with friends at Sashimi restaurant Uoshin in Kiyamachi. The sashimi platter reflects the name of the restaurant with its attention to detail! The portion and quality are both sufficient. The sashimi was delicious, so we added simmered and grilled dishes. The simmered dish was tilefish, which is rare at other restaurants, but the seasoning was gentle, allowing us to taste the deliciousness of the fish itself! And when it comes to Kyoto, it's sweet sea bream. We had sea bream grilled, forgetting to ask for the scales to be left on, which was the only mistake. We should have asked for it to be grilled with the scales on, but the sea bream was delicious. We ordered various other dishes and had quite a bit of sake, but it was more affordable than we had expected. Thank you for the meal. It was delicious. I will visit again!

I used to come here often. They only use fresh fish and update their ingredients on their blog every two days. The owner of this place was a regular at the Japanese sake bar "Zen" (now closed), which I also frequented, so we used to run into each other there. He would say things like, "Even though we serve shochu because it's good for business, sake is still the best with fish" and "The most profitable item on our menu is the assorted sashimi." Over the years, there have been some changes in the staff. There used to be another chef besides the owner, Makino-san, but now it's just him and a female staff member in charge of customer service and miscellaneous tasks. As a result, it's almost impossible to have a conversation with the owner. I remember seeing him make hand-sized nigiri sushi when he had some free time in the past. The menu has also changed a bit... they didn't used to have an "hassun" dish before. I ordered the sashimi platter. The appetizer was a steamed egg custard. The platter included turban shell, sea bream, sweet shrimp, spotted sardine, saury, goblin fish, and octopus. The freshness was good, the white fish was tender, the spotted sardine was just right without being too firm, and the saury was rich in flavor. It seems like they measure and serve the sake at the right temperature using a thermometer. I wish I could have stayed a bit longer, but I have other places to go today. I will come back again.

It's great to be able to eat delicious fish in Kyoto, but the cost performance might not be the best.

I visited on a weekday night. The restaurant is located in an alley between Kiyamachi and Kawaramachi streets, about 300m from Kawaramachi Station. There is no parking lot, so I parked at a nearby parking lot. [Atmosphere] The interior of the restaurant has a calm, adult atmosphere with a Japanese taste. There are counter seats and table seats, making it easy for even solo diners to enter. [Food] The menu consists of a regular menu and a daily recommended menu. The daily recommendations do not have prices listed, but the staff will tell you if you ask. On this day, I ordered the following: Assorted sashimi (1780 yen x 2), Grilled blackthroat seaperch with salt (3000 yen), Eel liver skewer (600 yen x 2). The assorted sashimi included horse mackerel, bonito, sweet shrimp, octopus, anglerfish, yellowtail, and turban shell, offering quite a volume. All were fresh, but the anglerfish, in particular, had a rich flavor. The grilled blackthroat seaperch had seasonal fat and was a large fish grilled whole, offering a generous portion. With each bite, the flesh was fluffy, and the high-quality fat and delicious flavor spread in the mouth, creating an exquisite taste. If you want to eat delicious fish around Kawaramachi, this is a recommended restaurant. Considering the content, I think it's a good value at around 5000 yen per person for food and drinks.
