It has been quite a long time since my last visit, probably over 20 years ago. After returning from Tokyo, where there are not many Chinese noodle shops in Kitakyushu, I decided to visit Fudoh. I entered the shop, purchased a meal ticket, and sat at the counter. The staff quickly explained the process to me. Once seated at the counter, I received instructions on where to hang my belongings and handed over my meal ticket. The Chinese noodles were delicious. It reminded me of the Sharyu in Tokyo. After having an extra serving of noodles, I was completely full. The shop had families, office workers, and solo female customers - a variety of patrons. It's a popular shop, so I will definitely visit again. Chinese noodles cost 830 yen, an extra serving of noodles costs 200 yen, so the total was 1,030 yen.

Located on the second floor of Charm Fukusuke Building in Uomachi Gintengai, 2-4-18 Uomachi, Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is "Chukasoba Fujiou," a ramen restaurant established in 1982. With over 40 years of history, this place is a longstanding favorite. When you come here, you have to try their soy sauce ramen. Simply choose it from the ticket machine, and I recommend adding spinach as a topping. In less than 5 minutes, your order arrives. Let's start with the soup - it's made fresh daily and has a light yet flavorful taste with a rich umami. The noodles are medium-thick curly noodles that are chewy and delightful. The spinach topping absorbs the delicious soup, enhancing its aroma. Despite being in a city known for tonkotsu ramen, Fujiou has been competing with its soy sauce ramen for over 40 years and remains popular. In my opinion, it's one of the best in Kitakyushu for soy sauce ramen. On a side note, Uomachi Gintengai is the birthplace of arcade shopping streets in Japan. There's a commemorative monument nearby, so it might be interesting to check it out while sightseeing (laughs).

I had the salt ramen lunch set! The gyoza filling was juicy and the skin was crispy. The noodles were flat and the soup had the perfect richness, creating a good balance with the noodles. It's a rare restaurant that offers menus other than tonkotsu ramen.

I felt like having ramen other than tonkotsu (pork bone broth) ramen, so I visited Fujio-san's place after a long time! In Kitakyushu, if you're looking for non-tonkotsu ramen, names like Genkaku and Fujio often come up. I wasn't completely hooked last time, but let's see how it goes this time. They use noodles from Tentei, a noodle shop in Kitakyushu, and their tsukemen is highly recommended. I ordered the tsukemen with extra noodles and rice! The tsukemen was delicious. The noodles were chewy and had a nice texture. The wheat flavor was also strong and went well with the spicy soup. The chashu was average, but when I mixed the cold noodles with the other toppings in my mouth, it was incredibly tasty! The rice was not mushy and was delicious! It was a taste that I would like to come back for. It would be even better if the staff were more cheerful and provided better service, but that's a bit lacking. It feels a bit gloomy. Nevertheless, the recommended tsukemen was very delicious! Thank you for the meal~.

I used to order miso ramen before, so this time I ordered the classic Chinese soba! Personally, this shop seems to be a one-choice for Chinese soba (^^) I'm not sure if the cutting was different by chance, but the two types of chashu were delicious!

[Ramen] I ordered the Chinese soba for 830 yen and added a boiled egg topping for 140 yen. The noodles were medium thickness. The soup had a balanced flavor of soy sauce, not too sweet or salty, but lacked a distinctive feature. The boiled egg topping was slightly firm with a good balance of saltiness. The chashu was large and thick, providing a satisfying bite. Overall, it wasn't something that I would go out of my way to eat again. [Service, Atmosphere] The interior had subdued lighting, creating an adult-like atmosphere. There were around 8 seats at the counter and 5 tables. It wasn't very spacious. The service was mediocre on the day I visited, although it could have been just a one-off experience. I visited around 1 pm on a weekend. The restaurant was on the second floor, and there was a line extending to the first floor. As I lined up, I was informed by a staff member that they would seat customers in the order of the names written. However, the paper to write names was at the entrance of the store, so you wouldn't know until you climbed all the way up the stairs. This caused confusion among customers, leading to complaints from those in line. It would be better to improve this system.

Fukuoka is known for its tonkotsu ramen, but in recent years there has been an increase in non-tonkotsu ramen options. Today, I was in the mood for something different so I decided to try a long-established Chinese soba restaurant. While the menu offered tempting options like tsukemen and tantanmen, I opted for the basic Chinese soba since it was my first visit. The flavor was universally appealing and delicious. Please note that they operate on a ticket system and only accept cash.

It's a revisit after about 10 years since my last visit! I climbed to the second floor using the stairs and purchased a basic ticket at the ticket machine. During busy times, I may purchase at the counter seats. I leave it to the guidance of the staff. I ordered the same Chinese soba with a boiled egg topping as last time. The long-awaited Chinese soba has the same refreshing taste based on chicken broth and is delicious. As I felt last time, the noodles served by the staff are slightly firm in texture. Personally, I prefer noodles that are a bit thinner and have a stronger chewiness. (laughs) It was a long-awaited ramen from Futo-oh. Thank you for the meal.

In the Fish Town shopping street in Kokura, there is a Chinese noodle shop that seems to be quite a longstanding establishment. You go up the stairs into the shop, where you buy a meal ticket first before ordering. It's a good idea to check the menu posted under the stairs beforehand. The interior of the shop has a chic and slightly dim atmosphere, perfect for focusing on the ramen. This time, I ordered the Chinese noodles. It was served in about 4-5 minutes. The Chinese noodles were very simple, but the chewy noodles and flavorful soup were outstanding. The soup had a soy sauce base with a chicken broth flavor, along with a rich taste similar to a tail soup. The sesame seeds added a nice touch. The thick and firm chashu was also delicious. Overall, it was a very high-quality Chinese noodle dish.

I went to a restaurant near Kokura Station to eat before going to Kokura Racecourse. It was featured on TV recently and caught my attention, so I decided to try it out when I stumbled upon it while walking. There was quite a line, so I thought it must be a famous shop. However, the ramen was a bit too salty for my liking and didn't really impress me.

Visited with high expectations, but ended up disappointed. The appearance of the salt ramen was decent. Took a sip of the soup in front of the bowl, and was surprised by the sharp saltiness. Tried the soup at the back of the bowl, but it had the same sharp taste. Took a bite of the noodles and found them to be cheap and unimpressive. Overall, I didn't like it at all. It's understandable if it was priced at around 500 yen, but not at 850 yen. The ambiance of the restaurant was stylish but that was about it. Maybe I should try the soy sauce ramen for a rematch since the miso ramen at this place is not worth it. Feeling down, I headed downstairs and left. Should have just gone to Gen instead.

I visited the restaurant during lunchtime and was able to be seated without waiting in line as there were only half the number of customers. I felt like having miso ramen today, so I chose that along with a side of half gyoza and small rice. First, the gyoza and rice arrived. The gyoza was crispy and delicious. It was good. The miso ramen had tasty soup, but the noodles were a bit soft and the broth seemed a little diluted. It's a matter of personal preference though. This place might be good for when you want to try something other than tonkotsu ramen.

I revisited the renowned ramen shop "Fuji-Oh" after 2 years, known for its delicious Chinese-style ramen. This time, I was intrigued by their Dan Dan noodles (1,100 yen) and purchased a meal ticket. The toppings included diced chashu, seasoned egg, bamboo shoots, green onions, bean sprouts, and spinach. When I tried the soup, I was expecting a stronger sesame flavor and spiciness from the chili, but the umami taste was more dominant. The diced chashu was tasty, but I felt like the seasoned egg and bamboo shoots were unnecessary. The noodles were a collaboration with the noodle maker "Teioku" from Kyoto, known for supporting Michelin-starred restaurants. The noodles were soft, and there was a lot of them, so I had to untangle them as I ate. Although the noodles were described as "medium-fine twisted noodles made with wheat germ," I couldn't really taste the wheat flavor. While the Chinese-style ramen was delicious, it didn't quite meet my expectations for a 1,100 yen "Dan Dan noodles." I believe there are as many "correct answers" for Dan Dan noodles as there are shops, so it's just a matter of personal preference. If I have the chance to revisit, I would like to try the delicious Chinese-style ramen I had before or maybe even the miso ramen that I haven't tried yet. Thank you for the meal.

According to Tabelog, it was stated that the restaurant is closed on Thursdays. However, when passing by the front of the restaurant, it was open as usual, so of course, I visited. The Chashu Ramen is priced at ¥1100, with an extra large serving of noodles for an additional ¥150. It was amazing! This is what real Chashu Ramen should taste like. It may be a bit pricey, but since I don't know when I'll have the chance to eat it again, I went for the extra large serving. The traditional Chashu was excellent! The flavor of the broth was outstanding, and it coated the noodles perfectly. It was a truly satisfying experience.

I visited the Chinese soba restaurant, Fujio, in Kokura Kita-ku, Kitakyushu City. It is located in a corner of a shopping street. After going up the stairs, the shop is on the left. Inside, there is an L-shaped counter and table seats. I ordered from the ticket machine on the left after entering, and was then shown to my seat. The bowl arrived after a while, with a clean golden-colored light soup. The noodles were chewy and curly, with toppings such as chashu, menma, negi, and sesame seeds. The portion was a bit small, but it was delicious. I should have ordered a large serving. Sometimes, having Chinese soba is nice too! If you are in the Kokura Station area, please stop by and try it out :)

I often go there during my lunch break or on days when I have a hangover. The ramen comes out really quickly, so it's perfect for people who get irritable when they're hungry. The soy sauce ramen is incredibly delicious, and I recommend it to everyone. Isn't this the best soy sauce ramen in Kokura Kita Ward? Next is the salt ramen! If you want something other than tonkotsu, this place is highly recommended!

I remembered that my senior recommended a ramen shop within walking distance from Kokura Station, so I decided to visit. The shop is located on the second floor after climbing the stairs. I arrived at 13:30 on a weekday and found a clean and welcoming atmosphere that seemed suitable for women. I ordered using a user-friendly touch panel with pictures. Being my first time at the shop, I decided to go with the classic option. The ramen came with green onions, bamboo shoots, and thick slices of pork. The broth had a strong and rich flavor, which I enjoyed at first but found a bit salty towards the end. The pork slices were thick but lacked flavor and had a distinct meaty smell that I didn't quite like. The bamboo shoots, however, were delicious! I believe the ramen was priced at 780 yen. There was also a lunch set available for around 1080 yen, which included rice and gyoza, but I didn't want the rice and ended up skipping it. I wished they had an option for just gyoza or fried rice. Unfortunately, the fried rice was sold out, which surprised me and another customer who came later. My friend ordered the tsukemen, which she found a bit light in flavor as she prefers stronger tastes. It came with an egg and plenty of toppings, and you could later turn the leftover dipping sauce into soup by adding hot water or broth. The portion was generous with plenty of noodles, leaving us both feeling satisfied. Thank you for the meal!

In Kitakyushu, there is a rare Chinese noodle shop that was established before the Heisei era. I had been wanting to visit for a long time, and finally my long-awaited visit came true! This time, I ordered the Chinese noodle lunch set with an extra serving of noodles. The lunch set comes with rice, 3 dumplings, and pickles. I took a photo before the dumplings arrived because I couldn't wait to eat them. The soup had a rich flavor with various vegetables and chicken bone aroma, and the noodles were chewy and satisfying. I ordered an extra serving of noodles for the first time with the Chinese noodles, and it came with char siu and green onions, along with extra soup, which was a pleasant surprise. Since it's not as thick as tonkotsu broth, having extra soup prevented it from diluting, making it delicious. Next time, I want to try the tsukemen!

I visited the popular Chinese soba restaurant Fujio in Kitakyushu Kokura for the first time. It is a rare soy sauce ramen shop in Fukuoka. Unlike the recent fish-based soy sauce ramen, this is a soy sauce ramen from an old-fashioned Chinese restaurant in Tokyo. And that's what makes it great. Some reviews mention a lack of punch or richness, but I think this natural and simple taste is what the owner was aiming for, not the soy sauce ramen from Tokyo. The chashu is also deliciously meaty. Thank you for the meal.

Located in the Gin-Ten Street in Uomachi, there is a restaurant called Fujiou. It is a ramen shop in the tonkotsu area. They serve salt ramen and Chinese soba. The Chinese soba comes with green onions as a topping. I didn't expect to find such delicious Chinese soba in this area! It was well-received by my kids who don't like tonkotsu ramen!
