I had a day off on a weekday, so I went to "Western Food Bonjour" which offers a great weekday lunch deal. This place is famous for its hamburg steak. They also have lunch on weekends, but it's much more expensive. The location is around the middle of Shijo-Karasuma and Oike, a little to the east. I arrived around 1 PM because I had other errands that day. For the weekday lunch menu, you choose a main dish and an additional mini side dish. The main dishes are A: "Hamburg Steak with Demi-Glace Sauce," B: "Simmered Hamburg Steak with Tomato Sauce," C: "Minced Cutlet with Spicy Mayonnaise." I chose the "Hamburg Steak with Demi-Glace Sauce" and added "Wagyu Beef Stew" as the extra side dish. Unfortunately, the beef stew was sold out because I arrived late, so I ended up ordering C: "Minced Cutlet with Spicy Mayonnaise" and "Scallop Fry." The minced cutlet was crispy and delicious, especially with the spicy mayonnaise sauce. The scallop fry was the highlight of the day, crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and bursting with scallop flavor. Despite some unexpected events, the food was delicious, so it was all good in the end. Looking forward to trying the beef stew next time.

I arrived at the hotel near the restaurant at 11:30, but there was already a line. Only 11 groups were allowed in, and we had to wait for the second round. The atmosphere inside was nice. The smell was appetizing and we were hungry. We placed our order quickly and when we sat down, the food arrived relatively fast. However, it wasn't piping hot, which was disappointing. The spaghetti was served on a hot plate, so it was hot. We shared A lunch and cream croquette with my daughter. The curry rice was also delicious.

I went to a Western-style restaurant and ordered: A lunch set (mini hamburger, shrimp fry, mini curry), Neapolitan pasta, crab cream croquette, and sparkling sake. Everything was shared between two people. The Neapolitan pasta came out on a hot plate, was piping hot, and had lots of ingredients, making it very delicious. The hamburger was popular and tasty, but the mini curry had a flavor that I really liked. The restaurant has only 11 seats, including table and counter seats, so I recommend lining up 10-15 minutes before on weekends.

I made a reservation in advance. The slightly unique demi-glace sauce may divide opinions. The soft handmade hamburger is suitable for both children and the elderly. The kind owner and the cozy atmosphere make you want to have a chat. I recommend trying their lunch menu.

Western food Bonjour️ Mini hamburger lunch + homemade Wagyu croquette After the Gion Festival in Kyoto, which marks the end of the rainy season and the start of summer, under the scorching sun, we enjoyed delicious hamburgers at Bonjour after admiring the float procession. The croquettes were also scrumptious, making it a lunchtime where we could forget about the heat! 🌟

This is a Western-style restaurant located in Karasuma Rokkaku. I had a lunch set with a demi-glace sauce hamburger and cream croquette. The hamburger comes on a plate with shredded cabbage, tomato, fried egg, and spaghetti, making it look exciting like a children's lunch. The meat is tender and has a gentle texture. The cream croquette has a thin crust and is filled with so much cream that it overflows when cut. For the hamburger lunch set, you can choose from three main options: simmered hamburger, demi-glace sauce hamburger, and minced cutlet, and you can choose one item from a set of Japanese beef croquette, shrimp fry, crab cream croquette, chicken cutlet, and conger eel fry. It comes with rice and soup, making it a generous set. You can see the cooking process from the counter, and the sizzling sound and aroma stimulate your appetite.

The information about the meat used in the hamburger is displayed inside the restaurant, and it seems that the chef minces it in the shop. The hamburger was very tender and made with very good meat, it was delicious. The sauce was a rich and tasty demi-glace. The shrimp fry was also well-seasoned and crispy, a dish that makes you want to eat it again. The side dishes and soup had a lineup that felt like a typical old-fashioned Western-style restaurant. I would like to visit again to eat the hamburger!

I visited around 1 p.m. on a weekday and was promptly seated at the counter. I ordered the hamburger lunch set from the lunch menu. You can choose between demi-glace or tomato sauce, and I chose demi-glace! Plus, the lunch comes with one side dish of your choice, so I picked the crab cream. The hamburger was fluffy and the demi-glace sauce had a unique flavor that I really enjoyed. The staff at the restaurant were very friendly, and I would love to go back again!

Located a 5-7 minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station is the Western-style restaurant Bonjour. Established in 1951, this longstanding Western restaurant exudes a classic upscale atmosphere rather than that of a casual diner, allowing patrons to savor authentic dishes akin to those found in a hotel. The chef, with years of experience in the kitchen, offers impeccable service, creating a pleasant and relaxed dining experience with just the right amount of tension. During this visit, I ordered the standard hamburger steak set with fried egg and the crab cream croquette. While there were plenty of other menu items I wanted to try, being alone, I reluctantly settled for these two dishes. The hamburger steak, with a choice of four sauces, was cooked to perfection with a tender texture, sealing in the savory juices of the beef and the smooth flavor of the half-cooked egg, complemented by the tangy richness of the demi-glace sauce like that of red wine. The crab cream croquette, freshly fried after ordering, was served piping hot and paired excellently with the creamy béchamel sauce and the demi-glace sauce, creating a delightful combination. The rice, soup, and salad were also superb. Overall, Bonjour is a delightful Western-style restaurant where everything is delicious, so be sure to pay a visit. Bon appétit!

Kyoto Rokkaku Western Food Bonjour Holiday Lunch - Hamburg Lunch On the last day of Golden Week amidst heavy rain, I came to this Western restaurant, which has been in business for 70 years, craving delicious hamburg steak. The hamburg steak here is tender, juicy, and flavorful, with a depth of sweetness and umami that shows the care put into making it. It's an amazing hamburg steak that even evokes a sense of awe. In my opinion, it's the number one hamburg steak! #HamburgSteak #HamburgLunch #HamburgSteak #FriedEgg #HolidayLunch #KyotoWesternFood #KyotoWesternRestaurant #KyotoWesternDiner #WesternFood #WesternRestaurant #WesternDiner #KyotoLunch #KyotoGourmet #Kyoto #KarasumaRokkaku #KyotoRokkakuWesternFoodBonjour #WesternFoodBonjour #Bonjour

While walking on Rokkaku Street at noon, I noticed a restaurant with about 2 groups of people lined up in front of it. I made a mental note to return and came back around 1:30 p.m. The interior of this long-established restaurant, in business for 70 years, has a cozy atmosphere with just two counter seats and two table seats. I ordered the A lunch set (2,300 yen). The hamburger steak was incredibly tender and literally melts in your mouth! It might be the softest hamburger steak I've ever had! The shrimp fry was also large and juicy. The curry rice had a nostalgic taste similar to Worcestershire sauce. Overall, I highly recommend the hamburger steak!

I wanted to have some Western-style food, so I came here. It's a popular restaurant with limited seating, so I arrived 20 minutes before opening and was the first in line. The restaurant quickly filled up. I ordered the Hamburg lunch set A. For one of the side dishes, I chose the crab cream croquette. The dishes seemed to be carefully made. They were very delicious. If I had to say something, it would be that the portion size was small. It felt like I finished eating in no time (laughs). Thank you for the meal!

It's a super famous restaurant. I've always wanted to go there for a long time, but never had the chance, wasting time... However, this time, my wife also wanted to go, so we visited for lunch at the last minute. Since we didn't make a reservation (a thing of the past), we arrived 10 minutes before opening and had to wait for one group... By opening time, there were already 4-5 groups waiting, and it quickly became full. Amazing, Bonjouro-san. On their website, it said "No children allowed," so I thought the chef might be picky... but it was the opposite!! A very kind, gentle chef. The popular A lunch set has a great portion size, and the demi-glace sauce is excellent. The curry, too, is superb for a Western-style restaurant! Great value.

I visited the restaurant I was curious about. I ordered the Black Wagyu Hamburger Lunch Set A at Bonjour. I chose fried oysters as an additional dish. The set includes salad, spaghetti, sunny-side-up egg, soup, and rice. The hamburger was tender, juicy, delicious, and had a rich meat flavor. The demi-glace sauce was also delicious. The fried oysters were juicy, with a firm texture, and delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The melty hamburger is still going strong today! Visited alone for lunch, second time. Arrived at 11:45 but already full. Had to wait for 2 groups... as expected! The hamburger with tomato sauce and choice of side dish, beef stew for 1,300 yen, just like last time, was unbelievably tender until the last bite! The pinnacle of soft hamburgers! There are many hamburger restaurants around Karasuma, but for me, Aki or this restaurant is at the top. The downside is that they only serve lunch on Thursdays and Fridays. Thank you for the meal ♫

Located in Karasuma Rokkaku, Bonjour is a popular Western-style restaurant established in 1951. Due to its central location, it often has long lines during lunchtime. The customer base is diverse, including tourists. The standout dish here is their unique hamburger. The meat is so tender that it might make you wonder if it's even cooked. It's flavorful and the cooking method brings out the meat's aroma and richness, showcasing originality. The demiglace sauce served with it is also unique, with a rich flavor that lacks acidity, giving it a down-to-earth taste. The chef mentioned that they prefer this taste over the bitterness and acidity found in typical demiglace sauces. The combination of demiglace sauce and hamburger is a classic, but here it is prepared with attention to detail and without unnecessary flair, creating a hamburger that can only be enjoyed at this restaurant. It's rare to find a place with such a distinct experience. Additionally, for lunch, you can order a side dish along with the hamburger, such as the delicious fried oysters with mustard mayo, a creation likely inspired by the chef's preference. The 1300 yen lunch set includes a small but flavorful hamburger, accompanied by a warm atmosphere. The minestrone soup, with a hint of Japanese dashi, may reflect the chef's aversion to strong acidity. The restaurant's popularity may stem from its adherence to traditional Western cuisine using quality ingredients, meticulous preparation, and the chef's unique touch maintained over the years. It reminded me a bit of Grill French. It's delicious. For those who haven't visited yet, this is a must-visit spot for locals. That's all, hope this helps! 😉

Visited alone for lunch, even though it was past 1 pm, I managed to secure the last seat. Ordered the Hamburg Steak A with a side of Wagyu croquette for 1,300 yen. There are many famous hamburger restaurants around Karasuma Gojo, but personally, this place is ranked number one for me! The hamburger had a crispy exterior and a juicy interior - it was really juicy! The Wagyu croquette didn't have a strong Wagyu flavor, but the buttery aroma and rich taste were delicious. The rice was also fluffy and tasty. The food takes some time to be served (around 20 minutes), so it's recommended to go when you have some extra time. I'm planning to visit again. Thank you for the meal~

Located a 5-minute walk from Exit 5 of Karasuma Oike Station, this long-established Western-style restaurant was founded in 1951. I arrived on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and there were two people waiting outside. We entered the restaurant after about a 10-minute wait. I ordered the A lunch set for 2300 yen, which included mini hamburger, fried shrimp, and mini rice curry. Soup was also included. The hamburger was made from minced meat of four selected cuts of Japanese black beef, giving it a fluffy texture with juicy meat juices, very delicious. The curry, a menu item since the restaurant's founding, is made by simmering 20 types of spices, 7 types of fruits, vegetables, and yogurt for a long time, resulting in a well-balanced blend of spice heat and fruit acidity, very tasty. The lunch menu offers a variety of Western dishes with attention to detail, making it a great value.

Located an 8-minute walk from Shijo Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway. No parking available. Our restaurant is a well-established Western-style restaurant in Kyoto founded in 1951. I often passed by and had always wanted to visit this place. The exterior is on the first floor of a mixed-use building and doesn't look very impressive. However, the interior has a warm atmosphere typical of a Western-style restaurant. It's a small place with counter seats in the front and table seats in the back. I was seated at the counter. I visited just before noon on a weekend and was informed that there would be a 30 to 40-minute wait after the person ahead of me. Despite that, there were even people waiting outside, showing that it's quite a popular spot. I ordered the A lunch set for 2,300 yen including tax. It came with soup, a mini hamburger, shrimp fry, and mini curry rice. The size of the hamburger was indeed small, but when you put it in your mouth, the texture as it crumbles and disappears is fantastic. Made with high-quality black wagyu beef, it's full of flavor. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that it's the ideal form of a Western-style restaurant's hamburger. Next, the shrimp fry. It wasn't made by combining small shrimp but was a single piece. As a result, you can fully enjoy the plump texture typical of shrimp. Lastly, the curry was a thin European-style type with a rich depth and flavor. The service was polite. Although the prices are a bit high, it was a satisfying lunch. I would like to visit again.

Visited for the first time for lunch during Golden Week. The atmosphere is like an old-fashioned Western-style restaurant with many regular customers. Luckily got a seat and ordered the Black Wagyu Beef Pilaf with Butter Soy Sauce (served with omelette) for ¥2,000. It was served about 20 minutes after ordering. The good aroma of the butter pilaf, the omelette shining brightly, visually beautiful, giving a real Western food vibe, got me excited...! Started with a bite of the shining omelette. The moment it entered my mouth, the egg melted softly and juicily... Delicious* Almost at the level of a drink. The irresistible texture of the omelette makes it really delicious (*´◒`*) Next, took a bite of the pilaf. The nice aroma of butter soy sauce wrapping each grain of rice and the fragrant savoriness spreading in the mouth is good! Couldn't stop eating this one too..! The meat is indeed tender and tasty, but not too fatty and not very filling, so in a good or bad way, it didn't quite give off the Black Wagyu Beef vibe. Completely full now. Thank you for the meal* Due to the limited number of seats, it was full 30 minutes after opening. I recommend visiting right after opening. A nostalgic, old-fashioned Western-style restaurant in Kyoto. If you have the chance, please do visit.

A luxurious dinner at a long-established Western-style restaurant in Kyoto. After finishing the Nara itinerary and moving to Kyoto, I immediately had dinner, which was the first meal in Kyoto this time. I wanted to eat a reasonably priced Kyoto kaiseki or obanzai, so I picked several restaurants near the hotel, but unexpectedly, they were all full. Well, it's the second day of Golden Week, so I underestimated it. However, while walking around checking out the restaurants, I came across a very interesting place, so I decided to go there. It's a Western-style restaurant that has been around for 70 years. It exudes a wonderful atmosphere. As soon as I saw it, I was intrigued. On the second day of Golden Week, I arrived at 19:50, with 5 customers already there, and entered without waiting. It's a sophisticated restaurant with a slightly upscale feel for a Western-style restaurant in town. Looking at the menu, the prices are a bit higher than regular town-style restaurants, with set meals all exceeding 2,000 yen. They also have a wide selection of wines. I'm looking forward to it. Today's order: Standard Hamburger with Fried Egg and Cocktail Sauce for ¥1,800, Crab Cream Croquette for ¥1,700, Weltenburger (German beer) for ¥700, Matsumoto Black Queen (red wine) for ¥700. The hamburger is delicious!! It has a fluffy and soft texture, incredibly juicy, and the meat tastes delicious. It's so soft that once you cut it with a knife, it's hard to stab with a fork because it crumbles a bit, making it a bit difficult to eat, but the texture and taste are perfect. It's so fluffy and soft that it almost melts in your mouth. The sauce has a slight acidity and sweetness that perfectly enhances the taste of the hamburger. The Crab Cream Croquette is also exquisite. It's crispy! It's crunchy! Inside the light and crispy coating, the creamy crab cream overflows endlessly. The creamy sauce has a moderate sweetness and is packed with the deliciousness of crab, making both the texture and taste delicious. It's a high-quality Western dish with meticulous and reliable finishing. The taste justifies the slightly higher price compared to regular town-style restaurants. Oh, it was delicious. If it were in my local area (Tokyo), I would want to visit at least once a month for this quality. The friendly and homely owner is also lovely. I would love to visit again when I come back to Kyoto. Thank you for the meal.
