Dotombori ◇ Kushikatsu Shiryori ◇ [Nishi Shinsaibashi 2-chome, Chuo-ku] Go south on the first street to the west of the Midosuji Mitsudera-cho intersection, and on the left side you will find Gan Yu at the back of the Mitsudera Center Building on the first floor of the building. I found out about this restaurant from a business card. I had this restaurant's business card along with a few others in the inner pocket of my suit. I wondered where I got this card from. Last weekend, when I visited a shop in Shinmachi and received this card, after a few days had passed, I couldn't help but come. The name "Mukatsuku" is pronounced as "Gan Yu". I bet 99% of people wouldn't be able to read it. This small town is located in the northwest of Yamaguchi Prefecture, by the Yuya Bay. The owner of this shop, Gan-chan, is from this town. I also lived in this small town during my childhood, and I felt nostalgic, so I decided to visit this shop. It is a small shop with about 8 counter seats, mainly serving kushikatsu, but they also have a wide variety of fish, including many from the Kizu Market (including many from Yamaguchi Prefecture). They also offer a selection of sake from Yamaguchi Prefecture: Junmai Daiginjo Mukatsuku (from Abu District), Choyo Fukumusume Semedzukeshu (from Hagi City), Kanjiro (from Iwakuni City), and Imo Shochu Yosuke (from Shunan City). I enjoyed their carefully selected Japanese sake and shochu. The Nagato Sangen Buta Bara Jibu-ni-style, the assorted fruit tomatoes, and the various kushikatsu were all delicious. Memories of driving around the Mukatsuku Peninsula with my family 35 years ago still come to mind. It's a wonderful place full of natural beauty. The Mukatsuku Marathon is now in its fourth year (I should participate once). "Thank you for the meal." I will definitely visit again next time, starting with this restaurant.
