FUK Coffee, which relocated from Haruyoshi to Gion, has expanded its presence not only outside the prefecture in NGS (Nagasaki), OSA (Osaka), and HIJ (Hiroshima), but also within Fukuoka prefecture at Parks (Ohori Park) and Seaside (next to PayPay Dome within EZO Fukuoka). I found out on Instagram that their roastery, Rastery, has opened in Ogosha. It's the 5th day of Golden Week, a weekday, but I took a day off to enjoy some coffee in Fukuoka city. In between my activities, I headed to FUK Coffee. I actually came once in the morning, but they were closed until the afternoon, so I returned later. The shop is located in a bustling area with cars passing by on the main street. Unlike other shops, there is a large roasting machine in the back, with Hario spiral drippers lined up. The seating consists of a long bench for about six people and two small tables for two, giving it a cozy atmosphere. I mentioned that I'm a fan of the shop and that I've been into French press coffee lately, so they recommended the Rwandan coffee for me. Instead of paper cups, they served the coffee in ceramic cups with the shop's logo on them. The coffee had a beautiful brown color with plenty of coffee oil. It had a refreshing acidity with a hint of sweetness. They used to outsource their roasting to other companies, but with the expansion of their shops, they decided to start roasting in-house. Due to the location, not many young people visit the shop, and it's quiet and peaceful as it doesn't stand out in front of Marukyo (a Fukuoka supermarket). (Indeed, the other customers who came later were around my age as well.) When it comes to FUK Coffee, collecting stamps with each shop's logo on them is a fun activity, but they mentioned that they don't have an original stamp card for this shop, so I got my card stamped at the main shop instead. It's not easy to come all the way here, but I look forward to the beans roasted here being sold at each shop in the future.
