On a Saturday, I had some errands to run in Umeda, Osaka, and thought of stopping by for a quick drink before heading home. I stumbled upon a restaurant called "Maxitei Osaka Station Front Building No. 3." It's a casual izakaya with locations in both the Osaka Station Front Building No. 2 and No. 3. The restaurant is located on the basement floor of the food and beverage area in the Osaka Station Front Building No. 3. I arrived at 4:30 pm, and at that time, there were about 8 pairs of customers, 3 groups of three, and 2 groups of five, I think. The exact number of seats was unclear, but I believe there were around 7 two-person tables and 8 four-person tables. I was seated at one of the two-person tables. I decided to start with a drink:
1. Draft Beer (medium) - ¥210
They had a happy hour deal until 6:00 pm, where you could get any number of draft beers for ¥190 each. It seemed to be Kirin Ichiban beer. Next, I ordered some food:
2. Assorted Skewers (5 pieces) - ¥650
The skewers included lotus root, eringi mushroom, red wiener sausage, pork, and beef, served with cabbage and Worcestershire sauce. The breadcrumbs were fine and crispy, though a bit oily. The beef and eringi were particularly delicious.
3. Dashimaki Tamago (rolled omelet) - ¥500
The rolled omelet was fluffy with a subtle dashi flavor, served with grated daikon radish and soy sauce. It had a Kansai-style taste, not too sweet.
4. Assorted Sashimi (3 types) - ¥760
The sashimi platter included tuna, bonito tataki, and marinated mackerel, served with garnishes like seaweed, cucumber slices, lemon, wasabi, and soy sauce. The sashimi was fresh and tasty.
