The other day, I went for a casual drink twice and had one win and one loss. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. This time, I got off at Nishitetsu Kurume Station. I planned to visit my familiar bar, but to my surprise, it was closed. So, I decided to check out a place called "Tonya Donya" that caught my eye while walking along Ichiban-gai. The signboard outside the shop advertised a set of 5 skewers and a draft beer for 800 yen instead of 1,230 yen. Let's give it a try. The shop was located on the second floor, up a steep staircase. There was also a third floor, which seemed to be for group reservations. Since I was alone, I sat at the counter seat. I ordered the advertised set of 5 skewers and a draft beer. First, a small dish of burdock and mayonnaise was served as an appetizer, which cost 300 yen (separately). Later, the skewers arrived, consisting of onion, sausage, chicken skin, fish cake, and smelt. The taste was average. Considering the cost of a draft beer at 400 yen and each skewer at 80 yen, the overall value was decent. However, the total bill came to 1,180 yen, excluding tax, which was close to the regular price of 1,230 yen. It would be helpful if the signboard mentioned whether the prices were excluding tax or included a cover charge. The chopstick wrapper mentioned a 500 yen discount for collecting 5 wrappers, but I don't plan on collecting the second one. Overall, the service of seeing me off at the exit was a nice touch. Thank you for the meal.
