BAR BRERA in Kurosaki is a place where you can enjoy a wide variety of hard liquor. I first visited 12 years ago and ordered a Gin and Tonic with Bombay Sapphire and Wilkinson, which has been my favorite combination ever since. I used to visit occasionally, but due to the pandemic, I hadn't been in a while. However, they recently relocated to the Kurosaki Omotesando shopping street and reopened on November 18th. On my first visit, the place was full, so I returned the next day. BRERA is known for its wall of whiskey bottles. They have expanded the shelves from the previous location, but I'm sure they will fill up eventually. The counter made of single piece of camphor wood was also lovely. For my first drink, I opted for whiskey. Not being very knowledgeable, I asked for something milder and was served it neat. (With a chaser on the side.) ■ Glen Allachie Speyside Single Malt Whiskey. It had a nice woody aroma and a soft mouthfeel. I only intended to have one drink and leave, but by the time I finished, a friend arrived. They ordered a Gin and Tonic made with a gin that is hard to come by, so I ordered the same. ■ HEIGHT OF ARROWS Gin from a distillery in Edinburgh, made with only 3 botanicals: Juniper berry, Skye Island sea salt, beeswax. Simple yet the juniper berry stands out, and the sea salt enhances the sweetness of the gin...quoting the Master's explanation. I can't put it into words, but it was a delicious Gin and Tonic that made me want more. Thank you for the meal. Bonus. -Japanese Toilet Adventure- The whiskey bottles lined up on the counter are impressive, but the wall shelf in the hallway leading to the restroom is also filled with empty bottles they have used in the past. It's amusing to see the mahjong tile labels lined up. There may be three legs missing for a full set, but if they collect fifty thousand bottles, they will have a complete set for a three-color straight, bringing back unused knowledge. I enjoyed the space not just for the alcohol but also for the ambiance.
