The tonkatsu sandwich, where you can choose between loin or fillet, was incredibly thick and a bit challenging to eat, but very tasty! Personally, the portion size was just right and I was quite satisfied. I definitely want to go back!

The friendly staff make it enjoyable just to chat with them, making it a great place to visit. Visited on a weekday just after 11 am, with only one other group of customers. Since the restaurant only has a counter, it might be difficult to bring small children. [What I Ate] Otoshi (appetizer) ¥500, Hirekatsu sandwich ¥1700. The otoshi is mandatory, so if you plan to eat, the minimum bill will be ¥2200. The hirekatsu was incredibly thick, taking a long time to fry. I actually waited for almost 30 minutes. The otoshi is probably necessary to space out the time. I had imagined the hirekatsu would be greasier, but it was surprisingly not too heavy. It was very tender and delicious! Although it seemed like a lot at first glance, they even said, "If you can't finish it, you can take it home," but I managed to finish it all (^_^;) With this volume, the price of over ¥2000 for three katsu sandwiches and otoshi is a bit daunting. Kyoto stroll trip in 2023 Part 1: For lunch on the first day, I went to Tonkatsu Shimizu for the second time. Today, I had both the loin and fillet cuts of tonkatsu, along with two beers. Everything from the appetizers was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating when the rice arrived! The fillet cut was moist and tender, while the loin cut had a satisfying crunch. I love them both ❤ The sweet and tangy pickles were a perfect match.

I was surprised by the size of the katsu, and couldn't stop smiling when I saw the cross-section. The sweet sauce and tender katsu matched perfectly and it was super delicious! I ordered the filet this time, but maybe the loin would have been better... If I have the chance, I'll definitely go for a rematch next time.

This day, there were 4 of us visiting, so we could try various dishes and we were extremely happy because they were delicious! We had the following: ★ Mysterious meat soup (this was too delicious) ★ Salt-boiled pork ★ Tonkatsu sandwiches (fillet, loin). The deliciousness of the tonkatsu sandwich needs no explanation... The portion is generous, and I had to take some home. The Fukujinzuke served with the tonkatsu sandwich complements it well. Takeout is also available, which is convenient for those short on time.
