I was curious about the best yakisoba in Japan, so I visited today. I ordered the yakisoba set meal (with egg) for 680 yen, upgraded to a large size for an additional 200 yen, and had an iced coffee for 380 yen (with a 100 yen discount for coffee or tea after the set meal). The yakisoba in large size was very delicious and had a generous portion!

Today I had lunch at Awaza. I visited a cafe called Compass, which is known for having the best yakisoba in Japan. I ordered the yakisoba set meal with an egg, which cost 680 yen. It arrived in about 5 minutes, with rice, soup, and yakisoba all included. The yakisoba was nicely presented, with thick noodles and a well-cooked texture from the teppan. While I can't say if it's truly the best in Japan, it was quite delicious. The combination of egg, sauce, and mayonnaise was very tasty. It's affordable, delicious, and definitely worth a try. Thank you for the meal.

The café "Compass" has a sign on the wall claiming to have the best yakisoba in Japan. The café is located further west from the Nishi Post Office, near a bridge. The interior has a nostalgic manga café atmosphere with counter and table seating. The walls are lined with manga, making it a great place for salesmen to slack off. The café supposedly closes at 4 pm, but the menu says 6 pm. Maybe the closing time was changed due to COVID-19? I decided to try the "best yakisoba in Japan" for 550 yen (700 yen for a large serving). If you add a drink to make it a set, you get a 100 yen discount. So, yakisoba with iced coffee costs 830 yen. When the yakisoba arrived, it was topped with a fried egg, sauce, a lot of mayonnaise, and a lot of seaweed. It was a high-calorie dish, but the taste was... well, not necessarily the best in Japan. However, the café is a nostalgic place where you can relax on a hot day, browse your phone, or read manga. Overall, it's a classic café experience.

Compass is a super famous shop in Osaka. They roast carefully selected beans and brew them on the spot. They used to advertise as having the world's most delicious yakisoba, but because of the overwhelming number of customers, they now operate quietly. The yakisoba here is unlike any other. Just a 1-minute walk from Awaza Station. Definitely worth a revisit. #AwazaStation #OsakaGourmet #AwazaGourmet #OsakaCafe #Instagrammable #TabelogTop100

On the way from the west along Chuo Street, just before Awa-za Station, you can see the shop "Compass" with a large sign on the wall that says "The best yakisoba in Japan at the cafe Compass". The atmosphere of the shop is like a traditional coffee shop! I ordered the "Yakisoba (with egg) set meal" + "Iced coffee" for 960 yen (tax included). It's a set meal with Kansai-style yakisoba, rice, and miso soup. The "with egg" means that the egg is on top, not inside the yakisoba. I enjoyed a delicious coffee while reading manga from the shelf along the wall during my lunch break. Ah, Attack on Titan will soon be in its final volume. Thank you for the meal!

A café with the prominent sign "The Most Delicious Yakisoba in Japan." I had been curious about it, but it usually closes around 6 pm on weekdays, so I couldn't visit. One day, I happened to take an afternoon off and decided to stop by. The interior of the café is spacious, but the seating is limited. This is because there is a long row of manga shelves on the left side of the café, taking up space. I noticed salarymen taking a break and reading manga. It was envy-inducing. The yakisoba costs 500 yen and comes with an egg. You can also order it without the egg, but the price is unknown. The appearance of the dish is as shown in the photo. The sauce has a mild flavor, possibly homemade. However, the taste is just average. In particular, the noodles are not particularly impressive. If you're in this area, the yakisoba at "Ching" near Kujo Station is tastier...but it's probably not a good idea to nitpick like this (laughs). With this level of taste, it's more endearing to boldly claim to be "The Best in Japan" rather than trying to be fancy with phrases like "Delicious Yakisoba" or "Second Best in Japan" (laughs).

From Awa-za Station, if you head west along Chuo Odori, you'll come to a bridge right away. If you turn east from the top of that bridge, you can see the words on the outer wall of Compass. It made me smile involuntarily! Alright, let's take on the challenge! For some reason, I felt fired up (laughs). It's not a signboard, but the words are written so boldly on the wall, showing a lot of confidence. (In my mind, Antonio Inoki's entrance music was playing.) Inside the shop, it has an old-fashioned coffee shop atmosphere. There were two groups of customers. On the side, there is a shelf full of manga books. It's so full of manga that you might mistake it for a manga cafe, and all the customers were reading manga. The entrance music of Antonio Inoki disappeared quickly. I gathered my spirits and ordered the yakisoba for 500 yen. The large serving is 700 yen. There is no set menu, and no rice. You can order a drink set, so I ordered an iced coffee. The total came to 750 yen. Now, in a situation where my fighting spirit had waned, I ate the yakisoba that was served. Hmm... it's just delicious. The sauce doesn't have any particular features, and it has a half-cooked egg on top, giving it a mellow taste. I was imagining if there was a special secret sauce with unique features, so it was a bit disappointing. I apologize for my preconceived notions. Well, it's easy to eat, I suppose. Considering it's 500 yen, it's more than okay. After paying the bill and leaving the shop, for some reason, I was humming Southern All Stars' "TSUNAMI".
