International judge and coffee specialist, Mahiro Sugano, uses carefully selected beans from around the world to make coffee the star of the show. Freshly ground and brewed hand-drip coffee blends include three different types: Hoshino Blend, Hikoboshi Blend, and Orihime Blend. In addition to coffee, they also offer tea, soft drinks, and alcohol.
Established in 2007 through a business merger, Doutor Nippon Restaurant Holdings operates this coffee chain. The first store was opened in Warabi City, Saitama Prefecture on March 18, 2011, and within a decade, they have expanded their presence both domestically and internationally, with a wide range of stores opening up.
The menu is created by leveraging the expertise of Doutor and Nippon Restaurant Systems (NRS), which also manages popular restaurant chains like Yo! Okonomiyaki and Tamago to Watashi.
The interior of the stores features chic wood furniture, chandeliers at the entrance, and a sophisticated atmosphere that allows customers to relax. With seating for 100 people, including window seats and table seats, the spacious layout provides a comfortable dining experience.
As of September 2021, there are a total of 280 stores in Japan, with the highest number in Tokyo (66 stores), followed by Saitama (29 stores), Kanagawa (18 stores), and Osaka (19 stores). Internationally, there are 19 stores in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Indonesia.
Located just a short distance from Shinsaibashi Station on the Midosuji Line, the store is on the 2nd floor of the D+ Kitashinsaibashi Building, easily identifiable by the au style store on the 1st floor. Nearby, you can find the popular omurice restaurant, Naniwa Omurice.
Some of the main menu items include oven-baked souffle pancakes, French toast, ice cream assortments, gratin, lasagna, pasta, beef curry, curry with pork cutlet, hamburger plate, croquette plate, ham and vegetable egg sandwich, fruit sandwich, salad with plenty of vegetables and ham, and omelet rice.
The ordered menu item, Beef Stew Omurice Doria, arrived in about 10 minutes. The beef stew sauce and the omurice sauce were delicious, with chunks of beef and mushrooms. The egg was slightly runny and not too thick, and the ketchup rice inside was flavored with bacon.
The dish was served on a wooden tray that looked like it could be placed on a hot plate, with a white plate, spoon, fork, and stainless steel knife. A Kalita coffee mill, a hand grinder, was placed on the frame of the table seat's edge as an interior decoration.
As of September 2021, the operating hours are from 9:00 to 20:00, with last orders at 19:30. The restaurant is open every day and does not serve alcohol.
