2nd day of business trip to Fukuoka. I had quite a heavy drinking session the previous day, but surprisingly I didn't have a hangover, just feeling a bit sluggish. It was raining in the morning, so I decided to have lunch around the Tenjin underground shopping area and visited Menya Kentora Fukuoka PARCO store. The location is very convenient, just a short walk from Fukuoka Tenjin Station, directly connected to the underground of Fukuoka PARCO main building B1F. Menya Kentora is a super popular ramen shop with its main store in Tenjin. Following the success of their Dazaifu and Hakata Deitos stores, the Fukuoka PARCO store opened in October 2021. I was craving for their spicy tsukemen to energize my tired stomach, so I headed straight there! I arrived at 10:58, 2 minutes before opening. The ticket machine is located in front of the store, so I purchased my meal ticket first. This time, I ordered the Charcoal-Grilled Spicy Tsukemen for 1,400 yen, with extra spicy level, medium portion (300g), and a flavored boiled egg for 150 yen, along with a pork rice bowl (Mayo Tama) for 380 yen, totaling 1,930 yen. Just a note, the noodle portion can be upsized for free to medium, and for an additional 150 yen for large (400g). You can choose the spice level from mild/basic/spicy/maximum, and they also offer free adjustments for ingredients like green onions, oil, and stronger flavor. The store opened promptly, with only counter seats available for 15 people. They provided condiments like soup base, garlic, chili pepper, ramen sauce, bonito vinegar, pepper, chopsticks, toothpicks, paper napkins, water, and wet towels. Disposable aprons, hair ties, etc. were also available. The pork rice bowl arrived in about 6 minutes, followed by the spicy tsukemen in another 5 minutes. I started with the spicy tsukemen. The rich soup is made from pork bones, chicken broth, seafood, and aromatic vegetables. Even the basic spicy level was quite flavorful, and the extra spicy level had a good kick to it. The toppings included charcoal-grilled savory chashu, thick bamboo shoots, flavored egg, green onions, and domestic seaweed, with thick and chewy noodles. Oh man, it's been a while since I last had it, but Kentora's spicy tsukemen is still delicious! I think it's a great remedy for recovering from a heavy drinking session! Next was the pork rice bowl. They offer three types: regular, garlic chili oil, and Mayo Tama. As a fan of mayo, I personally recommend the Mayo Tama. It's a must-order as a chaser to the spicy tsukemen. I skipped the garlic to save myself for the afternoon meeting and evening drinks, and managed to finish everything. I even enjoyed the soup base until the end, and ended up quite full... The energetic customer service at Kentora is also fantastic. The main store, which opens from 10:30 for brunch, is great, and the PARCO store directly connected to Tenjin underground shopping area is recommended for rainy days!
