Introducing a hidden gem on Oyafukodori Street, Hakata Ramen Shomaru. Located at 1-8-2 Maizuru, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, it can be found by taking the narrow path next to Yep Yep Steak on Oyafukodori Street, turning right, and walking down the narrow alley until you reach the corner at the end. If you're coming from Nagahama Park, it's behind the live house Drum Son. Shomaru is located in the same spot where Futoppara used to be. Upon entering, you'll find a nostalgic interior with table seating, a counter, and plenty of manga. The counter seating offers condiments like pepper, sesame seeds, and ramen sauce, with self-service water. Take a look at the menu which includes four types of tonkotsu ramen: the basic white, black with garlic oil, a blend of fish broth and soy sauce, and the spicy red with chili pepper. They also offer side dishes like mayo char siu rice bowl, gyoza, and various appetizers. This time, I ordered the white ramen with half mayo char siu rice bowl set, along with gyoza. After placing the order, you wait for a bit. During lunchtime, they offer one free extra noodle refill and the gyoza is only 200 yen, making it a great deal. The atmosphere is calm and cozy, with a hidden location and manga available, which may explain why most customers are men. The interior has a rich tonkotsu ramen shop vibe, slightly greasy and appealing to a male clientele. Finally, the ramen arrives. The white ramen comes with a simple topping of lots of green onions and seared pork belly char siu. The tonkotsu broth is rich and collagen-filled, with a high concentration but a moderate amount of oil, making it easy to drink. The pure pork bone soup, cooked with plenty of pig bones for a long time, is delicious! The seared pork belly char siu is incredibly tasty. The generous amount of green onions adds a nice touch. The thin noodles have a strong wheat aroma, good chewiness, and mix well with the soup. The mayo char siu rice bowl is so good it could be considered a drink. The gyoza is juicy and delicious. After finishing the noodles, I ordered an extra noodle refill. Lunchtime at Shomaru is a delight with the free extra noodle refill and the deliciousness of the extra noodles themselves! It was a delicious meal. I highly recommend it (^-^) Thank you for the meal. #HakataRamen #Shomaru #LAmenHOUSE #TonkotsuRamen #FukuokaRamen #RamenLoverGaso #Ramenstagram #gaso #ramen #tonkotsu #fukuoka #hakata

I had the White Ramen (650 yen)! Lunch comes with a free extra noodle refill, and 5 gyoza for 200 yen, which is a good deal. The ramen is simple, made with only pork bone and water, resulting in a rich and flavorful soup. It's delicious. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is cozy and welcoming. It was a great meal! Thank you!

As soon as I entered the shop, I was hit with a strong pork bone aroma. I thought to myself, this is promising, and ordered the black pork bone ramen. It lived up to my expectations with a rich pork bone flavor and oiliness that I enjoy. The gyoza I ordered on the side was also delicious.

I visited after a long time, but as always, the lunch deal with a free extra serving of noodles is great. I had the white ramen for 650 yen. The creamy pork bone soup is delicious with the noodles. The chashu is also tender and tasty as always. Of course, I got the free extra serving and left with a full stomach. If you ask, the staff will bring out the pickled ginger from the fridge for you. It was delicious as always today!!

I walked down a gloomy alleyway and arrived at a suspicious backstreet with a creepy atmosphere. It felt like one of those places where the henchmen from "Fist of the North Star" would appear. I felt relieved seeing the red lantern and curtain at the entrance of the shop. The interior was spacious and suitable for dining alone or with a group. I couldn't tell if there were any volumes of "Fist of the North Star" on the bookshelf. Black oil ramen with garlic flavor that stimulates the appetite center. The rich broth forms a thin layer on the surface, revealing a meticulous extraction of flavors. The noodles were very thin, perfectly complementing the rich pork flavor. The charred chashu was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I couldn't stop feeling happy. After finishing the black ramen and a bottle of beer, my stomach was full and satisfied. I bid farewell with a "thank you" and returned to the world of 199X. As I looked up at the night sky from the dark alley, I could see the stars clearly... Was that the Big Dipper? And next to it, shining brightly, was... the Death Star...?

As of February 2023, the rating is 3.25, but I doubt that. The location of the restaurant is not great, it's more of a hidden gem, but the interior is dirty and the taste is mediocre. In other reviews, it's mentioned as having rich soup, but it's more on the bland side. There is a club or live house next door, so it seems to be popular among that crowd. ★Please like if you found this helpful and also follow me if you can (^^)

On October 31, 2022 (Monday), I visited a quiet little restaurant tucked away in an inconspicuous alley off of Oyafuko Street. Upon opening the door, I was surprised to find that the place was fully packed. After a short wait, I was seated and decided to try the weekday lunch special, which consisted of "White Ramen + Half Mayo Chashu Don (850 yen)". The white ramen was a rich pork bone broth, and the chashu was perfectly seared, making it a delicious bowl. The chashu don was also generous with plenty of sliced pork, offering great value. The only regret was that I later realized they offered a free extra noodle refill during lunchtime, but unfortunately, I was already too full to take advantage of it. Despite that, I was satisfied with the delicious meal.

I didn't go to work but went to Shomaru, so I'll report on it. I'm a sweaty person, so I've always avoided it for lunch, but this time I tried the red ramen. I didn't know this before, but you can choose the spiciness level from 5 levels. I ordered the least spicy "basic" (because I'm a wimp when it comes to spicy food). It was delicious, and not that spicy. It was just right for me, who sweats a lot. Maybe the second level would be perfect. Now I know I can order red ramen for lunch from now on. Of course, I also had an extra serving. I'm looking forward to going back again. Shomaru accepts PayPay. Also, you can see YOASOBI's autograph. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 3.5/5. Our rating is 3.5 stars (see rating criteria here)

In Fukuoka's Shofukotakadori, there is a ramen shop called Hakata Ramen Shomaru. When you enter the narrow path at the back of the street, you will find this cozy shop. The interior is decorated with manga, creating a nice atmosphere. There is a wide variety of ramen available, but I personally like the Shiro Maru the most for its rich tonkotsu flavor. The char siu is seared perfectly, adding a delicious touch to the dish. The broth is thick and flavorful, making me always go for an extra serving of noodles. With plenty of green onions and side dishes available, it's a satisfying meal. They also offer snacks, making it easy to enjoy a bottle of beer. Located in a bustling area, it's the perfect spot for a fulfilling meal. #HakataRamen #RichTonkotsuRamen #SearedCharSiu #Deliciousness #CreamyTexture #MustHaveExtraNoodles #IrresistibleSeasonedEgg #BottleBeerForTheOccasion #SummerVibes #GenerousOnions

After finishing work, I decided to try eating at a place I don't usually go to. Last time, I couldn't get an extra serving of noodles with my half-mayo pork bowl set, so I came back for a rematch. This time, I ordered the "Wara" ramen. It had a fish broth aroma! It's a ramen with fish soup base and pork bone broth! The appearance is just like regular white ramen, but when you scoop up the noodles from the bottom, they are mixed with bonito flakes. The flavor was different from the usual, but it was surprisingly good. I finally made it to the extra serving of noodles. I visit this ramen shop once a month, and they accept mobile payment with "Shomaru PayPay". Rating: 3.5/5.

I went out for lunch at a new place while I was out of the office. I usually just have ramen with an extra serving of noodles (which is free during lunchtime), but this time I decided to try something different. I ordered the half mayo chashu rice bowl in addition to the white ramen. The B lunch set with the white ramen and mini mayo chashu rice bowl costs 850 yen. The white ramen alone costs 650 yen, so the half mayo chashu rice bowl is essentially 200 yen. It was such a good deal that I ended up feeling full just from that. I was disappointed that I couldn't get an extra serving of noodles. The ramen was as delicious as always, and I was impressed by the value of the meal. However, the mini chashu rice bowl was a bit lacking in flavor for my taste, as it had a strong pork-like taste with a ham-like texture. It may be more appealing to those who enjoy the taste of pork. Overall, I realized that my stomach can no longer handle the way it used to be. The ramen shop accepts PayPay and I would rate it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

After our New Year's party in Tenjin, we went to a ramen shop. I thought I had forgotten to take a picture, but I found it stored on my family's computer. I was planning on just having a light ramen to sober up, but I ended up getting the "Red SP" with all the toppings. The note said "SP" so I guess that means it's a special item. When I dug through the thick toppings, I found the thin noodles I was looking for. It was a full portion so the noodles were firm. You could choose the richness of the flavor, but since it was my first time, I went with the regular option. It was labeled "Red" so it had a bit of spiciness, but the base soup was surprisingly light and refreshing. The soft char siu went well with the spicy soup, and even though I was already full, I was able to eat it all easily.

I went to this restaurant based on a recommendation from a colleague at work. Thanks to the map app on my smartphone, I was able to find it easily without getting lost, but I don't think I would have made it with just my colleague's explanation. I'm grateful for the power of technology! I arrived around 6:30 pm after work, but they were still preparing to open! The opening hours are not fixed and vary depending on the day, so I was advised to inquire before visiting, but I didn't want to spend money on a phone call, so I spent some time wandering around the dim and eerie back streets near the store. I peered inside from outside and saw shadows of people preparing, so I waited with the hope that they would open at 7 pm. They ended up opening around 7:10 pm. I ordered the recommended all-topping ramen from my colleague. It arrived in a small bowl with a lot of green onions, a boiled egg, a slightly strong flavor, and plenty of small, charred and fragrant slices of pork. The toppings and noodles were to my liking, but the soup didn't suit my taste. There are three other types of soup available, so I would like to try the white La-men that other customers were ordering next time. The additional order of Mayochadon did not disappoint, it was delicious!

I visited this restaurant right after it opened, and it was my first visit in about ten years. I wanted to eat tonkotsu ramen, so I ordered the white ramen and the half mayo chashu bowl B lunch set for 850 yen. The white ramen had a strong tonkotsu soup, which I didn't dislike. It's a shame they didn't have red pickled ginger and spicy mustard greens. The mayo chashu bowl was also delicious.

Hakata-style ramen for the first time. I wonder if I will like the authentic tonkotsu flavor. As I nervously entered the curtain, a mysterious and appetizing smell greeted me. The interior of the restaurant had a nostalgic atmosphere with manga and TV. Looking at the menu, there were many types of tonkotsu ramen to choose from. I asked the staff for a recommendation and tried it. It was easy to eat. The aroma wasn't too strong, and the best part was the noodles. They slid down smoothly. I heard that the culture of extra noodle servings originated in the west, but I could eat bowl after bowl. It was delicious. The side menu rice was also satisfying in taste and portion. I will definitely visit again.

The shop is located near Nagahama Park, in a slightly scary area with abandoned buildings and live houses. It has been in business for 13 years. The shop's specialty is a super-concentrated soup made by simmering pork bones and pig's feet for over 20 hours. It is popular among young people. The shop has both table and counter seats. Start with a draft beer and order the red ramen with a boiled egg. The ramen is bright red with a slightly thick and spicy soup that stimulates your appetite. The noodles are thin and the char siu is seared after ordering, adding a fragrant meat juice that enhances the richness of the soup. It's nice that you can adjust the spiciness, and the menu offers a variety of options such as white, black, and Japanese-style ramen.

Stable taste and cost performance (^ ^) B lunch set that is not a volume of 800 yen! It comes with rich ramen and mayonnaise pork bowl for 800 yen! You will be satisfied with a full stomach. And there is a TV, lots of manga, and you can smoke. This is a truly appreciated shop for salarymen working around here!!

I had the White Ramen for 600 yen. For lunch, you get a free extra serving of noodles. It was delicious! The creamy tonkotsu flavor was amazing. I really got hooked on it. The chashu was well seasoned and they sear it right before serving, so it's tender and delicious. They also have Black, Japanese-style, and Spicy Ramen, so I went back to try them all. It was really tasty.

It's located in a slightly hidden street. I found it using a map haha There are various types of ramen such as white, red, black, but I ordered the classic white (regular tonkotsu?). I also ordered beer and some snacks, choosing chashu and gyoza. The chashu was so tender! It easily cut with chopsticks. The flavor was rich but not too heavy, so you could eat a lot of it! The gyoza was chewy and juicy, you could probably eat it even without soy sauce. The ramen was a solid tonkotsu flavor, but not overwhelming. I added a flavored egg topping, and the yolk was creamy and delicious. It balanced out the tonkotsu flavor nicely. Since it's a bit hard to find, it might be a real hidden gem haha I'm thinking of making it my regular spot.

White tonkotsu ramen for 600 yen is reasonably priced yet has a rich tonkotsu flavor that leaves you wanting more after finishing. The Chashu Mayo Donburi for 420 yen was surprisingly delicious with the green onions adding a nice touch. I would like to try the Katsuo Dashi and Tonkotsu Wafu Ramen next time.

A few years ago, I visited LA-Men HOUSE Shomaru in Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City. I ordered the Black LA-Men with a boiled egg (650 yen) and gyoza (270 yen). Wow, it's thick and greasy. It's rich but not too overpowering, and the right amount of chili oil adds a nice flavor, but it feels like they are focusing too much on richness. The thin noodles are overwhelmed by the strong soup, making the balance off, and I was disappointed that the chashu was 70% fat. The gyoza filling was too sweet for my taste, which was a bit disappointing. It might be popular with younger customers.
