I visited the newly opened "Kobe Cook World Buffet" located in the large commercial facility at the site of the former Ion Mizuki store (formerly Daiei Mizuki store). I arrived on a Sunday just before 6 pm for the evening session which starts at 5 pm. After getting a ticket at the reception ticket machine in the windbreak room, I had to wait for about 30 minutes as there were 20 groups ahead of me. The restaurant is operated by Kobe Shoji, a subsidiary of Business Super, making it somewhat like a direct sales business! The prices are paid in advance, with men paying 1,600 yen, women 1,300 yen, and elementary school students 1,000 yen on weekends and holidays. There are both table and counter seats, so even if you are dining alone, you can feel comfortable. The kitchen is partially open, allowing you to see the kitchen from the windbreak room. I first tried three types of pizza: Salami Ham Cream Pizza, Teriyaki Chicken Pizza, and Margherita. Although I could see the process of spreading sauce on the pizza dough and adding toppings in the open kitchen, the taste of the freshly baked pizza was just average. If you happen to pick up a cold pizza, it's a different story. I'm not sure if they really had over 100 different dishes from around the world as they claimed. One of the main dishes, "Beef Tongue Stew," was already sold out by 6:30 pm. I also tried dishes like Mapo Tofu, Sweet and Sour Meatball, White Fish Fry with Tartar Sauce, Herb Breaded Chicken Thigh, Bistro-style Pork Cutlet, Hamburger Steak with Mushroom Sauce, Negi-flavored Rolled Omelette, Tomato Sauce Doria, and Young Chicken Ajillo. Some dishes would have been delicious if they were freshly made, but there was nothing particularly noteworthy. I also had the salad bar, but I made a big mistake by pouring too much coriander sauce, making the salad unappetizing with poor presentation. As coriander is not my favorite, the salad turned out neither tasty nor delicious, leading to a big regret. The drink bar included a separate 1,000 yen option for all-you-can-drink alcohol. There were also ice cream and soft serve, so I tried to make a coffee float but failed. The Cremeschnitte (a Croatian specialty pastry with custard and cream sandwiched between flaky pastry) was delicious. When I brought back mango and vanilla ice cream, my family said it looked like pumpkin and potato salad. Finally, the crepe batter that the boy was silently baking was deliciously chewy. Although I'm not a dessert person, the desserts were all enjoyable without any misses. I don't think I'll revisit, but thank you for the meal.
